Chapter 594
David was a man who, in every sense, deserved to be treasured.
"David, I regret to say that I cannot make any promises at this moment. My sole purpose for returning is to exact revenge," Cassie declared with unwavering resolve.
"I understand. I've waited for three years, and I can wait longer," David reassured her, patting her head gently. "Prepare yourself for the 30th-anniversary celebration of Leo's Group at the Leo's InterContinental Hotel."
Leo's Group.
A grand celebration was underway.
Over the years, Leo's family had weathered a myriad of trials and tribulations.
Three years prior, Leo Chapman, after a prolonged coma, had abruptly awakened. Upon regaining consciousness, he had insisted on divorcing Vera, who had fiercely opposed the decision. The matter had escalated to court, where their divorce was granted, but they were still bound by their shared daughter, Luna.
Luna's marriage to Felix had catapulted her status. Throughout the years, she had not only held the position of vice president of Leo's Group but had also co-founded an e-commerce company with the Chamberlain Group. Rumors circulated that the total market value of Leo's Group had exceeded a staggering six trillion dollars.
The day marked the 30th anniversary of Leo's Group. The company was hosting a banquet of unprecedented grandeur, extending invitations to not only the crème de la crème of Madison's stars but also the city's old money.
Within the banquet hall,
After Leo Chapman had finished entertaining a group of guests, he glanced over to see Atlas, encircled by influential businessmen.
A whirlwind of complex emotions swirled within Leo's heart.
Three years ago, his awakening had brought about significant changes.
Cassie had taken her own life, and a once insecure Atlas had stepped into the role of the company's CEO. Atlas had transformed, exuding confidence and strategic acumen, despite still being confined to a wheelchair. He had even replaced many of Leo's trusted confidants.
However, considering Atlas was his younger brother and had been nurturing Luna, Leo Chapman had chosen to turn a blind eye.
Over the years, Luna had blossomed into a mature and hardworking individual. Yet, every time Leo saw Luna, he was reminded of the debt he owed Cassie.
"Leo, I've been looking for you," Vera approached, concern etched on her face. "When do you plan to announce tonight that Luna will officially become the CEO of the company and establish a joint venture with Chamberlain?"
A flicker of disgust passed through Leo Chapman's eyes, "Who invited you here?"
"Why shouldn't I be here? I am Luna's biological mother," Vera retorted with pride. "Look at how capable Luna has become. After all these years, aren't you confident in her ability to take over Leo's Group with Chamberlain?"
Leo Chapman chose to ignore her. Vera's mere presence was enough to turn his stomach.
"Dear Sister-in-law, Big Brother," Atlas greeted, wheeling himself over with a smile.
"I've told you before, she's not your sister-in-law anymore," Leo Chapman warned sternly.
"I know, it's just a habit," Atlas replied with a smile. "Big Brother, seeing Luna's accomplishments, I can't help but feel old. It's truly the era of the younger generation. The guests have been praising you for being fortunate enough to have such an exceptional daughter."
Leo Chapman nodded, "Luna has indeed excelled in the past two years. It's fitting to let her assume the role of CEO. I will make the announcement later when she takes the stage."
