Chapter 74

"Cassie was taken aback. ""Auntie, you must be mistaken. Our cat just got chubby.""

""No, I met your husband before, and I asked him too. He admitted your cat was pregnant.""

""My husband?""

Could she be talking about Joseph?

Yes, Joseph occasionally took Dakota for a walk, but Dakota wasn't pregnant.

""Auntie, you must be mistaken.""

""No, even though I have a bit of presbyopia, your husband has a one-in-a-million appearance. There's no one as good-looking in the entire community. I even think he looks better than the stars on TV. And my cat and your cat have known each other for a long time. They have played together several times.""

As the auntie spoke, she brought her cat over, and Dakota immediately greeted her with a ""meow,"" as if they were old friends.

Cassie was completely flabbergasted. Dakota was pregnant!

Wait, is Dakota a female cat?

Oh my God, she always thought Dakota was a male cat!

Dakota was so clingy. She even acted like a male cat.

""You have poor eyesight, young lady. Look at how fat its belly is. It's obviously pregnant. Didn't your husband tell you?""

""Thank you for letting me know. It's my first time raising a cat."" Embarrassed, Cassie said farewell to the auntie and quickly took a taxi to the pet hospital.

After the veterinarian performed the ultrasound, he adjusted his glasses and said, ""Young lady, you're really something. Your cat is about to give birth.""

Cassie's mind was filled with jumbled characters.

What?

She hadn't even recovered from the news that Dakota was pregnant, and now it was about to give birth!

""The due date is still more than ten days away,"" the veterinarian said. ""During these days, you should pay special attention to her. But I see that the cat's fur is shiny and smooth, so I estimate that she has good nutrition and physical fitness. She should be able to deliver on her own.""

""Um, doctor, I want to ask if cats vomit when they're pregnant.""

""Some cats do, and they may lose their appetite in the early stage.""

Cassie had no idea how to leave the hospital. All she could think about was how she had been deceived!

According to the timing of Dakota's pregnancy, Joseph should have known about it when Dakota vomited and he took it to the hospital for a check-up. And it was clearly pregnancy-induced vomiting, not because Cassie had fed Dakota chips and beef that upset its stomach.

So what was she feeling guilty about all these days?

Why was she trying different ways to cook for Dakota to aid its digestion?

She hadn't done anything wrong, but Joseph had falsely accused her, making her feel guilty every time she saw Dakota. Had she been played? That was her only thought.

If it weren't for Joseph saving her twice recently, she would have really wanted to go over and slap him. Every time she came home late, he would stand there and use Dakota as an excuse to morally condemn her.

When Cassie got back home, Joseph hadn't returned yet, and she couldn't resist falling asleep because of the medication she had taken.

In the morning, while brushing her teeth in the bathroom, she heard the sound of the master bedroom door opening. She immediately wiped her mouth and rushed out. ""What are you doing?""

Joseph's expression was cold, and there was no way she could expect him to seek her forgiveness.

""You already knew about Dakota's pregnancy, didn't you?"" Cassie stared at his face after she finished speaking and noticed a momentary unnaturalness in his complexion, albeit subtle.

""Is it pregnant?"" he replied nonchalantly and averted his gaze. "
