Chapter 1176 I am Cassie

"I didn't bring any clothes to Whisperlyn City, so I bought a few sets," Everett said with a charming smile. "Great to see you! Can you help me pick some out?"

Just as Cassie was about to respond, a salesperson approached with a brown suit. "Ms. Brooks, is this the suit you mentioned earlier?"

"Yes," Cassie nodded. "Could you get me one size larger?"

"Of course." The salesperson went to get the new size, sneaking a glance at Everett as she left.

"Why did she call you Ms. Brooks?" Everett asked, confused. "Isn't your last name Chapman?"

"Sorry, my last name is actually Brooks," Cassie said with a helpless smile. "I'm Cassie."

"Cassie, that's not fair. I told you my real name because I consider you a friend, and you gave me a fake name," Everett said, looking a bit hurt.

If it were anyone else, Cassie wouldn't have bothered to explain, but Everett was different. The familiar and warm feeling he gave her made her not want to see him upset. "I'm sorry. I'm somewhat of a public figure, and my reputation isn't great. When I met you in Silverwood, I thought we'd never see each other again, so I made up a fake name."

"A public figure?" Everett blinked. "Are you a celebrity or an artist?"

"No," Cassie shook her head. "I'm kind of a social influencer."

Everett said, "So, we're reintroducing ourselves now. You live in Whisperlyn City, right? I'll be settling down here too. Great, you're my first friend in Whisperlyn City. Nice to meet you again."

He extended his right hand like a gentleman.

Cassie shook his hand.

The salesperson returned with the suit. Cassie said, "Please wrap it up for me, and also get me the same size in that olive green suit on the left."

"Are you buying clothes for your husband?" Everett asked, trying to hide his jealousy.

Cassie pressed her lips together and spoke honestly, "Strictly speaking, he's my ex-husband and my current boyfriend."

"But Michael said you were married."

"I am married, but I have no feelings for my husband. I was deceived into marrying him. We've been separated for a long time and are planning to divorce through legal procedures," Cassie said, seeing his shocked expression. "Sorry. My love life is quite messy. I'm currently back with my ex-husband, and we have two kids."

"I didn't expect you to have two marriages at such a young age," Everett said with a sigh. "Since you divorced, it must have been due to incompatibility. Why did you get back together? Because of the kids?"

"Partly. The kids are one reason, but another reason is that I still love him," Cassie admitted openly.

Everett was stunned for a moment, a complex emotion flickering in his eyes.

After a while, he said, "I'm a bit shocked, but it's okay. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

"Thank you," Cassie said, a bit surprised. Most people would have a hard time accepting it.

But regardless, Everett's words made her happy.

"You've got good taste. How about helping me pick out some clothes?" Everett's fingers brushed over the new clothes.

"You're handsome; you'd look good in anything," Cassie said, giving him a once-over before picking out a few brightly colored items.

"You want me to wear this orange shirt?" Everett's mouth twitched. He never wore such bright colors.

"Didn't you say I have good taste?" Cassie said, puzzled. "Besides, with your great physique and at your best age, there's no need to dress so darkly. Young men should dress more brightly."

She picked out more than ten items in one go.

The clothes in this store better suited Everett's age: a white pinstripe shirt paired with jeans or a sky-blue checkered shirt with beige cropped pants.

Cassie thought, 'If I had a younger brother, I'd definitely dress him like this.'

Everett was stunned; these clothes were quite different from his usual style.

He particularly liked black, but Cassie didn't pick a single black item for him.

"Sorry, I think I picked too many."

"I'll take them all," Everett said, pulling out a black card.

Cassie was taken aback. She remembered Joseph had a card like that before. It wasn't something an ordinary person could have, and the clothes in this store were very expensive. Everett spent a million dollars without hesitation.

"Everett, you should call your family. This costs big money."

"No need. It's nothing." Everett smiled. "My family has so much money that I couldn't spend it all in my lifetime."

Cassie was silent, pondering, 'Is this a kind of humblebrag?'

"By the way, since you're from Whisperlyn City, do you know of any good villas or estates? I want to buy one so my parents have a place to stay when they visit at the end of the month," Everett said, looking at her deeply.

"The best villas are in the west of the city, near the ocean," Cassie said after thinking for a moment.

"Do you have time to accompany me to look at them? I'm not familiar with the area." Everett shrugged, looking at her expectantly.

"I need to arrange for my kids to start kindergarten in the next couple of days."

"How about in a few days?" Everett checked his watch. "It's getting late. Let me treat you to dinner."

"If you're busy, I can just grab a quick bite nearby," Everett said, his handsome face tinged with loneliness.

Cassie, who had planned to refuse, suddenly felt a pang of sympathy. "I'll treat you to dinner, but I need to get home early. I can't stay out too late."

"Great, thank you." Everett's eyes lit up. "But there's no need for you to treat me. I'll treat you."

Cassie smiled. It didn't matter who treated whom; it was just a meal.

For convenience, Cassie chose a barbecue restaurant upstairs.

"I don't know if you like barbecue, but this is a pretty famous chain in Whisperlyn City. The food is quite good," Cassie said as she sat down, her phone suddenly ringing.

Seeing the number, she felt a bit guilty as she answered.
