Chapter 1724 He Is My Husband

"It's okay."

Elliott moved the files off his knee.

Although he was waiting for Julia, he also took the opportunity to handle some work matters.

Julia was about to get into the car when an excited voice suddenly came from behind.

"Julia, I finally caught you! I knew you must have a man, no wonder you were always looking at your phone."

Aaron suddenly popped out from a corner. "Let me see which man made you heartlessly dump all the work on me."

Julia's face turned serious, but it was too late to stop Aaron.

Aaron quickly squeezed to the car door and saw Elliott, dressed in a white shirt, with a handsome face and a hint of coldness in his eyes, sitting inside with the car light on.

Aaron was stunned for a while. He had seen Elliott before, Laura's brother. "So it's Elliott. Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought it was Julia's boyfriend. But Elliott, what are you doing here? Talking business with my sister?"

Aaron's clear and straightforward gaze made Elliott feel awkward and unsure of what to say.

Julia, however, glanced at Elliott, who remained silent, then looked at the curious Aaron beside her, and calmly put her bag inside. "You said I have a man, so of course, he's here to pick me up from work."

Aaron's mouth dropped open. "Julia, you're so funny. Now you're even joking."

"I'm not joking. We got our marriage certificate." Julia said as she got in and skillfully fastened her seatbelt.

This left Aaron dumbfounded.

"Aaron, hello." Elliott greeted seriously.

Aaron was shocked. He truly didn't expect Julia to like someone as expressionless as Elliott. He had always wanted to set Julia up with Garth, thinking Garth was more refined, mature, and suitable for a strong woman like Julia.

"Julia, are you married?" Aaron couldn't believe it. "Mom and Dad probably won't accept it, right?"

"They don't accept it, so the CEO position is now yours," Julia said flatly. "Close the door, don't block us. I'm very tired and need to go home and rest."

Aaron, still in a daze, closed the door. After watching the car drive away, he slapped himself hard twice.

He realized he wasn't dreaming.

Julia glanced in the rearview mirror and shook her head helplessly.

With Aaron's foolish look, how could he handle the board of directors?

Just as she withdrew her gaze, a dazzling crown-shaped diamond ring appeared in front of her.

Elliott then stepped on the brake. "Put your hand out, I'll put it on for you."

Julia was surprised for a few seconds, then happily extended her hand, reminding him, "Put it on my ring finger."

"I know." Elliott lowered his head, looking at her slender, fair fingers, his heart pounding faster.

No one knew that putting a ring on her ring finger was his most cherished dream when he was young.

Now, he had finally achieved it.

"It looks pretty good." Julia examined it for a while. "You didn't pick it, did you? Your taste isn't that good."

"Laura picked it." Elliott glanced at her meaningfully and added, "I have good taste."

Julia understood his implication and deliberately said, "Really? You didn't say that before."

"I was foolish."

Julia couldn't help but smile, then noticed he was also wearing a men's ring on his ring finger.

Alright, he was already announcing to others that he was married.

She held his hand, brought it to her lips, and kissed his ring and finger.

Elliott almost lost his grip on the steering wheel, his face flushed. He put the car in park and leaned over to kiss her without hesitation.

She always had a way of making him lose control easily.

Since they were on the road, he didn't dare to be too reckless. After kissing for a while, he held her hand and asked, his eyes dark, "Can you come home with me sometime?"

By "home," he meant the Miller family.

Julia was stunned for two seconds before nodding, "Okay."

"You agreed so quickly?" Elliott was surprised.

"I'll have to meet your parents sooner or later." She sighed softly. "I'm just curious why you're taking me to the Miller family so soon."

"I saw someone from the Penrose family at dinner tonight." Elliott didn't hide it from her. "I don't know how they found out about us, but I didn't tell anyone."

He implied that the news might have come from her side.

Julia quickly thought it over. Only her parents and Garth knew on her side. Her parents valued their dignity and wouldn't say anything for now, so it had to be...

"You suspect Garth?"

"Depends on whether you told anyone else." Elliott meant that if she hadn't told anyone else, it was probably Garth. "Garth likes you."

"What did the Penrose family say to you?" Julia was curious.

Elliott coughed awkwardly. "They said I was planning to marry their daughter, but after getting involved with you, I immediately dropped her. They want me to ask you to let the Penrose family invest in the Jude Group's northern hydroelectric project, or they'll spread rumors about me and their daughter. They probably want to ruin our reputations. I don't care about my reputation, but will your parents misunderstand that I'm after your money? Maybe you should explain to them that you forced me into this."

"I already told my parents, but they don't believe it," Julia said with a laugh.

Elliott was speechless. He understood; who would believe it? To outsiders, Julia's status was too prominent. The Miller family was also significant, but compared to her...

Having a powerful wife was also a kind of helplessness.

"The Penrose family has a good plan." Julia suddenly said. "That hydroelectric project is no small matter. If they cooperate, the Penrose family could easily earn over a billion dollars. More importantly, with this project, the Penrose family could leverage the Jude Group's reputation and attract more investments. Forget it, no one knew about your engagement to Isadora except your two families, and there was no marriage certificate. Let them say what they want; they have no evidence."

"When we canceled the engagement, I gave Isadora two stores under my name." Elliott lowered his eyes guiltily. "I wanted to repay her for saving my life."

Julia blinked in surprise. She hadn't been involved in the latter matters and didn't know he had done that.

"Dear," seeing her suddenly silent, Elliott was a bit at a loss. "You're not angry, are you? I wanted to compensate her more at the time, to settle things once and for all, so the Penrose family wouldn't bother us again."
