Chapter 1386 He Is So Radiant and Dazzling

[Hey handsome, come find me. I won't make you chase me; I'll chase you.]

[Hey cutie, it's getting cold. How about I warm your bed? I promise it won't cost you a dime.]

Laura was floored by all the online comments.

Okay, she had to admit Michael was a looker, but these girls today were just too bold.

Still, she got it. Back when she had crushes on celebs, didn't she also leave some shameless comments when she saw hot guys?

If she didn't know Michael, she'd probably be jealous after seeing that video too.

But being the one in the spotlight today, Laura felt a bit smug and proud.

Cassie hit her up on Facebook: [Feeling smug, aren't you?] Cassie knew her too well.

Laura texted back: [Nah. I've already had him, and he's just alright.]

Cassie replied: [You're just showing off.]

Laura blushed. Okay, maybe she was showing off a bit.

Just then, a sweet violin tune filled the restaurant.

It was nice, and the melody seemed familiar. She listened for a bit and then recognized the song.

It was a song Laura knew well from her teenage years.

She remembered singing a duet with Benjamin at a club once.

But the club's rhythm was totally different from the violin, which was more lingering and melodious, like a guy singing a sweet song with a soft, gentle voice.

She wondered who was playing it.

She couldn't help but look towards the violin.

Under the retro, dim lights, Michael was dressed in a vest and trousers, with a violin on his shoulder and his bow moving gracefully across the strings. The melodious sound flowed like a gentle stream.

He looked incredibly charming as he played the violin and gazed at her.

Laura was stunned.

In her mind, Michael was just a spoiled rich guy.

She thought Michael was unromantic.

But tonight, Michael was like a prince, so striking.

She never even thought Michael could play the violin.

Actually, a noble young man like him should have learned various skills from a young age, so it wasn't surprising he could play the violin.

But Laura had probably never seen it.

They say talented men can make one's heart flutter.

She seemed to be no exception.

Michael walked up to her, followed by two waiters pushing a heart-shaped cake with a piece of pure white chocolate embedded on top. The chocolate had a few words written in black sauce: "You are my sweetie."

Looking at those words, Laura blushed.

Did Michael have to suddenly become so affectionate?

After Michael finished playing the violin, he opened a long box next to the cake, revealing a crescent moon necklace encrusted with diamonds. It was exquisite.

Laura, being somewhat of a fashionista, recognized the high-end luxury brand from the logo on the box, but she had never seen this design in magazines.

"This is custom-made," Michael said, blushing a bit. "I had a moon-shaped necklace made just for you, and it has your name inside. Do you like it?"

Laura's eyes sparkled with mixed emotions.

The necklace was stunning and clearly pricey. Of course, she liked it.

What woman wouldn't love a fancy restaurant, a handsome guy, and expensive gifts?

But she didn't expect it to be Michael.

A guy who had hurt her before and with whom she often fought. She was torn.

Laura wanted a stable, warm marriage, but she and Michael had too many issues. They always ended up fighting after a few days, and she wasn't sure how long this peace would last.

Even his declaration of love left her puzzled.

To this day, she didn't get what he saw in her.

"Laura." Seeing her quiet, Michael bit his lip and said seriously, "I proposed to you because I wanted to spend my life with you. Yeah, we fight a lot, but it's not because I don't like you. Maybe we're just used to it. But as a man, I shouldn't argue with you about everything. I should be more understanding. I want to apologize for the past and promise to be good to you and Maeve in the future. I really like you."

"I like it when you're mad, when you smile, even when you scold me."

"That day after our fight at the Jude Mansion, I was a mess when you left. I couldn't eat or sleep. I can't stop thinking about you. Maybe I had feelings for you long ago, but I didn't realize it. I hope you can give me a chance."

"From now on, you won't have to do any chores. I'll treat you like a princess."

As he spoke, Michael's face turned even redder. So did Laura's.

Laura had never imagined such cheesy words from him.

It made her heart flutter.

She even found Michael's confession kind of cute.

"You say such sweet things, but who knows if you'll change again." She pouted and glared at him.

Honestly, for Maeve's sake, she didn't really want a divorce. But during childbirth and the celebration party, their fights were too intense, making her very uncomfortable.

"I won't. If I ever make you unhappy again, you can kick me out of the room. I promise I'll be on my best behavior."

Michael cautiously moved closer, "Let me put the necklace on you."

Laura gave him a playful glare but didn't refuse.

Michael was thrilled and quickly bent down to put it on her.

Laura lowered her head and suddenly noticed something in his sleeve.

She pulled it out while he wasn't looking, and her face instantly turned sour.

"Laura, you look beautiful with the necklace." Michael looked down and saw the small note in her hand and panicked.

"Michael." Laura glared at him angrily, "You are such a liar. Your confession had to be read from a hidden note. Tell me, who wrote this note for you?"
