Chapter 1269: "Cassie, your face is so red."
"Yeah, I didn't see that coming either," Cassie finally sighed after a long pause.
Lucas shot her a look but kept his mouth shut. "Just be careful. Take him to the urologist today to see if it's just a fluke or if he's really back to normal. I'll let Dr. Olivia know, she was handling his, uh, issues."
"Thanks."
"No need to thank me. Joseph's my buddy," Lucas said, feeling down.
He'd known Joseph forever, and Joseph probably got him better than anyone. He never thought things would end up like this.
Cassie noticed and thought Lucas might not make the best boyfriend or husband, but as a friend, he was rock solid.
After lunch, Cassie took Joseph to the urology department.
It was pretty empty, so no worries about running into anyone.
Dr. Olivia had stayed late 'cause Lucas asked her to.
At first, Joseph didn't wanna go into the exam room with Dr. Olivia. It took some chocolate and cartoons from Cassie to get him in there.
But soon enough, Joseph was crying, "No taking off, no taking off. Cassie said no one but her can take off my pants."
Cassie was at a loss.
She acted like she didn't hear a thing.
Dr. Olivia came out, looking defeated, "Ms. Brooks, can you come in? He's too strong, I can't handle him."
Cassie felt awkward but had no choice.
Inside, Joseph was clutching his pants, his face all scrunched up in defiance.
She walked over, bent down, and patted his short black hair, "Joey, listen to the doc. She needs to check you out."
Joseph pouted, "But you said no one but you can take off my pants."
Dr. Olivia, sipping water, quickly hid behind her cup, pretending not to hear.
Cassie was mortified but said, "This time, the doc can do it. He's just checking if you're okay. Be good, alright?"
"Okay, I guess," Joseph grumbled.
Finally getting Joseph to agree, Cassie walked out, relieved.
Behind her, Joseph told the doc, "I said you can take them off, but no funny business. Cassie said only she can touch."
Cassie almost tripped.
Barely keeping her balance, she bolted out.
Her face was burning the whole time.
She didn't look up until Dr. Olivia and Joseph came out.
"Cassie, come here," Dr. Olivia called, "I've checked him. He's all good now."
Cassie awkwardly asked, "So why couldn't he get it up before?"
"I ran all sorts of tests on him before. He was hurt, but those wounds healed a while ago. I told him it might be in his head. Some guys, after trauma, get scared," Dr. Olivia smiled, "Now his mind's like a clean slate. He doesn't even remember being hurt, so no pressure. Maybe that's why he's back to normal."
Cassie got it.
She wasn't sure if this was a blessing or a curse.
"Alright, don't stress too much," Dr. Olivia coughed lightly and grinned, "You've done a great job teaching him. Just keep it up."
Cassie felt her face heat up.
With a blushed face, she dragged Joseph out of the urology department.
"Cassie, your face is so red," Joseph said innocently, "Do you have a fever?"
"No."
Cassie noticed Joseph's language skills were getting better fast, way better than a typical two-year-old.
Back in the ward, Cassie looked at him seriously, "Joey, from now on, if there are other people around, don't repeat what I say to you in private, okay?"
Joseph looked puzzled.
Cassie awkwardly gave an example, "Like, if I say in private that no one but me can take off your pants, or touch certain places, or kiss your lips, don't tell others."
Joseph blinked and thought hard for a long time before saying, "But what if someone tries to kiss me?"
"Just say, 'Please don't kiss me, and you can't touch here.' You don't need to mention me," Cassie interrupted him.
"Oh." Joseph nodded, seeming to get it, "Why?"
"Because it would embarrass me," Cassie looked into his eyes, "And I'm not treating you like a baby."
"Then are you treating me like a big baby?" Joseph's eyes sparkled.
Cassie couldn't help but think, 'Yeah, you're not a big baby; you're a man.'
"No, I'm treating you as someone I love," Cassie pressed her cheek to his chest, "You don't get it now, but I'll teach you what love is."
"Oh, I know, like how I love chocolate and cartoons," Joseph nodded seriously.
Cassie smiled bitterly. She thought, 'You don't understand anything. Never mind, I'll teach you slowly.'
At five in the afternoon.
Cassie suddenly got a call from Rosalind.
"Cassie, something's wrong. Sophia's been kidnapped," Rosalind's panicked voice came through, "I just picked up Sophia and Oliver from school. On the way back to the estate, Sophia said she wanted to buy something for you, so I went with her. Then she was grabbed by someone on a motorcycle. The driver and bodyguard chased for a long time, but the motorcycle went into the mountain path, and the car couldn't keep up."
"What?" Cassie dropped the water cup in her hand.
Joseph was startled and quickly sat up. He looked at her in confusion, "Cassie, what's wrong?"
Cassie had no time to pay attention to him and urgently asked, "Did you call the cops?"
"Yes, I also notified Joel and Mrs. Cameron," Rosalind said, choking up, "But recently Mr. Hernandez had an incident, and the Hernandez Group is in trouble. I'm worried it's the Hernandez family's enemies. They might not be after ransom or kidnapping but pure revenge."
If it were for ransom or kidnapping, there would be less worry about Sophia's safety.
But if it were purely for revenge, that would be terrible.
Cassie almost couldn't stand.
"Mom, we have to save Sophia," Rosalind's voice suddenly changed to Oliver's. He was usually such a cold boy, but now his voice was choked up, "I'm sure this has something to do with David and Olivia. For my sister's safety, you should immediately mobilize all of Dragon's personnel. No matter the outcome, first control those two."
