Chapter 56 Knows exactly what I'm thinking

That remark struck a deep-seated hatred in Cassie's heart. "Arthur, do you have a heart? Do you even hear yourself?"

"Am I wrong? You keep telling reporters that the Brookses locked you up and abused you, but you look all glamorous and healthy. Seems like you're living quite well. The Brookses are unfortunate to have a daughter like you. Do you know that because of what you said, Height Architectural Decoration Company's reputation was ruined, its stock price plummeted, and its market value evaporated by over two billion dollars?"

"The real misfortune was me falling for you in the first place." Cassie wished she could gouge out his eyes.

Afraid she might die of anger, she started walking away.

"Wait." Arthur rushed over and grabbed her arm. "Olivia and I are getting engaged at the end of the month. You have to come. You tarnished Height Architectural Decoration Company's reputation, so you need to help restore it."

"Screw you. I wish Height Architectural Decoration Company would go bankrupt. You betrayed our relationship, and you have the nerve to ask me to attend your engagement party? Do you have no shame?" Cassie shouted angrily.

Arthur remained unfazed. "That day is also Natalie's 80th birthday. Natalie has always been so fond of you. Her health is poor, and every year counts. Are you not planning to attend?"

Cassie's body stiffened, and she glared at him fiercely. "You people are despicable."

"You have to face the consequences of your actions," Arthur said coldly.

"Don't worry. I'll be there," Cassie replied.

She thought to herself, 'I'll bring Joseph with me. I'll crush you all under my feet! I'll make Joseph so obedient that if I don't agree to let Olivia in, she won't be allowed in!'

Cassie stormed off in a rage.

Arthur watched her back and shook his head helplessly before heading towards David's villa.

David was sitting on a chair under a tree, looking at the design plans. When he saw Arthur approaching, he frowned and discreetly rolled up the plans.

"Are you really going to renovate the villa?" Arthur's sharp eyes immediately noticed the plans in his hand.

"Did your grandma tell you that?"

"Yes." Arthur quickly smiled. "You're usually so busy. You should leave this kind of thing to Height Architectural Decoration Company. Olivia is a designer there. Give her a chance."

David rubbed his temples and stood up. "Arthur, I'm familiar with the designers at Height Architectural Decoration Company. Their designs are luxurious and high-end, but they're too traditional and rigid. I've lived abroad for a long time, and I prefer the styles over there."

"You could communicate with the company. Its reputation is damaged right now. Could you help them out?" Arthur asked.

"No way," David said, waving his hand. "I can agree to a lot, but I have high standards for where I live. I don't want to settle. I've met Olivia, and honestly, she lacks experience. She knows nothing about the latest materials and high-tech appliances. She'll ruin my house."

Arthur felt a bit embarrassed since Olivia was his fiancée. "But she did a good job with the center design last time."

"Come on, she won that bid because I put in a good word for her," David replied, visibly displeased. "You should be grateful Felix's situation ended without dragging us into it. Otherwise, we'd be in trouble."

Arthur's heart sank. "Fine, if you don't agree, then forget it. By the way, is that a blueprint in your hand? Who designed it? I'm just curious."

"Billy, a friend I met back in Ravenwood City, is starting a branch here in Silverwood," David said, handing over the blueprint. "This was drawn by one of his company's designers. She sketched out a plan in less than half an hour and completely understood my vision. I'm very satisfied."

"Cassie?" Arthur was stunned when he saw the signature in the bottom right corner. He remembered running into her at the door earlier. So, she was the one designing David's house.

"Yes, that's her."

"David, you can't hire her," Arthur said in a complex tone. "She's the one I told you about before. She used to be my girlfriend, but her character has become questionable. She accuses others of plagiarizing her work and even slanders her parents."
