Chapter 1507 Your Girlfriend is So Timid

Derek turned away, ignoring her, and quickly scarfed down the ice cream. After finishing, he winced, "Stop hitting me, my teeth are freezing."

"Serves you right for snatching away my ice cream," Laura said, half amused, half annoyed at his misery.

"I was just worried you'd get a stomachache," Derek said, looking at her helplessly. This time, Laura felt a bit touched.

She pursed her lips and pulled a brown scarf from a shopping bag, handing it to him. "I got this for you. Don't complain that it's ugly."

Derek wrapped it around his neck twice and grinned, showing off his white teeth. "Lookin' good, right?"

Laura laughed. "So tacky."

"What's tacky about it?" Derek shot back, clearly displeased.

"I meant the way you're wearing it," Laura said, standing on her tiptoes to take off the scarf. "Lower your head, I'll fix it."

Derek obediently lowered his head. She leaned in and looped the scarf differently, changing his whole vibe.

He was already tall with long legs, and today he was wearing a coat. With the brown scarf, he looked even more like a  gentleman.

The more Laura looked, the more satisfied she was. "I have good taste, don't I?"

"You used to have terrible taste, but it's getting better," Derek said with a smile.

Laura glared at him but then thought about it and realized he had a point. "Never mind. Wanna try some rides?"

"Aren't you scared?" Derek asked.

"I just checked the map. This tunnel ride doesn't seem scary. Lots of kids love it," Laura pointed out.

"You're a kid too, so it fits," Derek nodded.

"I'm a beautiful and adorable kid," Laura huffed and walked straight ahead.

"Wrong way, it's this way," Derek pulled her back, smiling as he corrected her.

Derek had bought the priciest tickets, so they didn't need to wait in line. Once inside, it wasn't long before Laura was screaming and clutching Derek's hand.

After the ride, Laura was curled up in Derek's arms.

A ten-year-old boy behind them looked at Derek disdainfully and said, "Your girlfriend is such a scaredy-cat. This ride isn't scary at all, but she kept screaming and hurt my ears."

Laura was mortified.

Derek smiled and ruffled Laura's hair, saying to the boy, "Because she's a girl, and girls can be scared if they want."

The boy pouted and said, "I definitely won't find a scaredy-cat girlfriend like that."

Laura, furious, said, "I bet you won't find a girlfriend at all."

Feeling embarrassed, she dragged Derek away angrily. "It's all your fault for shoving me onto that tunnel train. I was the only one screaming on that little train. So embarrassing."

"Yeah, it's all my fault. I shouldn't have brought you here," Derek admitted, stifling a laugh. "I didn't realize you were even more scared than the kids."

Laura's face flushed. She knew she was being unreasonable; she just wanted someone to vent to.

"Let's go ride the Ferris wheel, okay?" Derek raised an eyebrow. "You won't be scared of the Ferris wheel, right?"

"Of course not, I've ridden a Ferris wheel before," Laura said confidently.

But as soon as they got on the Ferris wheel and it started to rise, Laura's legs turned to jelly. "Oh my God, this thing is so high. I'm terrified of heights."

Derek stayed quiet.

"Can we just go around once and get off?" Laura was almost in tears.

"Don't worry, I'm right here." Derek moved closer to her.

The Ferris wheel swayed a bit, and Laura screamed, grabbing his arm and refusing to look outside.

Derek put his arm around her shoulder, his voice gentle in her ear, "Check out the night view."

Enchanted by his voice, Laura glanced down. Suddenly, with a bang, fireworks exploded near the castle. They were at the top of the Ferris wheel, and the fireworks were super close.

Any woman would love something this beautiful.

Laura had never seen fireworks from such a height. In the starry night sky, it felt like a dazzling galaxy was right beside them.

"Isn't it beautiful?" Derek whispered in her ear.

"Yeah, it's gorgeous." Laura nodded, a bit dazed. "Why are there fireworks tonight?"

"They do it every night at eight," Derek shouted over the pops of the firework.

Laura checked the time; it was exactly eight o'clock. She started to piece it together. She looked away from the fireworks and at the dazzling Derek beside her. "Did you plan this?"

Derek smiled and asked, "Are you happy?"

Laura nodded.

She felt not just happiness, but also deeply touched.

She might never forget this night, these fireworks.

No one had ever gone to such lengths for her before.

Derek was not only thoughtful but also incredibly romantic.

As Laura thought back, Michael used to give her a gift every morning for a month, which made her very happy and touched. But now, did Michael personally buy and choose those gifts?

Probably not.

For those luxury items, as long as Michael said the word, someone would buy and prepare them for him.

Laura didn't know why she was comparing what Derek was doing tonight with what Michael had done before. Maybe the fireworks tonight were just too dazzling.

They made her forget her fear of heights.

Laura had originally planned to get off after one round on the Ferris wheel, but she ended up staying for two rounds.

When they got off, the fireworks had ended.

Laura had overheard a female tourist nearby say, "The fireworks tonight were so beautiful, even better than the videos online."

As they were going down the stairs, Laura ran into the same female tourist. The tourist smiled at her and said, "How did you manage to book it? You got to ride the 14th Ferris wheel at this time, that's amazing. My boyfriend and I have been trying to book it online for days without success."

Laura was confused, asking, "What's special about the 14th Ferris wheel?"

"Every night at eight, the 14th Ferris wheel reaches the top, and you can see the first burst of fireworks. It's the most classic and romantic attraction here. They say couples who ride it will be together forever. Tons of people try to book it online," the tourist explained with a smile.

Laura was stunned.

She turned to ask Derek.

"Watch your step." Derek held her close.

Laura then realized she had almost missed a step.
