Chapter 1511 Jealousy

Megan saw Michael staring at Laura so hard it pained her. She knew she looked awful right now, and standing next to Laura just made it worse. Clenching her fists, she said, "Laura, did you bump into me on purpose? I'm already a mess, can't you just leave me alone?"

Laura looked confused. "Are you nuts? I didn't even see you."

Megan's body shook, and tears started to form. "Yeah, I am nuts, and it's all your fault."

"I can't deal with this," Laura said, trying to walk away as people started to notice.

"Hold up." Michael grabbed Laura, a bit too rough, pulling her close.

The familiar scent of Laura hit him, and he stared at her, lost for a few seconds, forgetting what he wanted to say.

It wasn't until Laura pushed him away, glaring at him with disgust, that he snapped out of it and said, "Apologize to Megan."

"Sorry, is that enough? Can I go now?" Laura didn't want to get caught up in this. An apology was no big deal, especially since it was her fault to get distracted by her phone.

"You don't mean it." Michael, seeing Laura's eagerness to leave, got more irritated.

Laura got mad. "What do you want me to do, get on my knees and apologize?"

Michael sneered, "If it weren't for you, Megan wouldn't be in a wheelchair. She even has to use the disabled restroom now. I'm telling you, even if you kneel, it won't help."

"Michael, I'm warning you, don't talk nonsense. I can sue you for defamation," Laura shot back coldly.

"Laura, what's going on?"

Just then, Remy walked over from the restaurant, glancing at Michael and Megan with slight confusion.

Seeing this unfamiliar guy, Michael's anger flared. "Laura, are you on a date with this old man today?"

"What old man? He's the same age as you." Laura huffed, seething with anger.

"You're really something," Michael mocked, "You switch boyfriends so fast. How can you even date someone like him? Do you think you're being fair to Maeve? It's late, and instead of being home with her, you're here with this ugly dude."

"Idiot, he's a young physics professor. One of his brain cells could outsmart an idiot like you," Laura snapped back, "And what right do you have to talk about Maeve? As her father, have you ever shown any responsibility towards her? Get lost, you make me sick."

Michael spat gruffly, "You think I want to see you? Vicious woman."

Michael sneered at Remy, "I warn you, stay away from Laura. She's vicious. See the lady in the wheelchair? Laura personally severed her tendons and disfigured her."

Remy frowned.

People around them started pointing at Laura and gossiping, their eyes filled with disdain as if she were truly vicious.

"Michael, I'm telling you for the last time, if you think I harmed her, call the police. Don't slander me."

Laura didn't want to stick around any longer and turned to leave.

Remy quickly followed her.

Watching them walk away, Michael burned with a fury to tear Remy apart.

Megan called his name twice before he snapped out of it. He looked down and saw Megan in tears.

"Michael, are you still hung up on Laura?" Megan tried to act all understanding, but Michael's jealous look was killing her. "I know I look awful and ugly now, I can't compare to Laura."

"Megan, don't say that. Ever since Laura hurt you, I've been completely done with her," Michael said, reaching out to grab Megan's hand.

"Stop lying to me. You despise me, that's why even though we're married, you still won't make love to me." Megan cried.

"It's not like that. I just don't want to hurt you because of your health." Michael felt helpless.

They hadn't been intimate yet, partly because of her health, but also because he just didn't want to. He didn't like Megan anymore; he married her out of responsibility.

Megan used to be like a goddess to Michael, a dream from his youth. But now, Megan was too thin, with scars all over her body and face. Those scars made him feel guilty, but they didn't spark any desire in him.

Sometimes, even when Michael felt uncomfortable in the morning, he would think of Laura's charming figure in bed.

But now, Laura was no longer his.

Thinking of that guy just now, Michael felt very resentful.

Michael also hated Laura. Why did she have to be so cruel to Megan? If Laura hadn't been so vicious, he would have had a reason never to divorce her. That was why he always said such harsh things to Laura.

Actually, if Michael had just sent Megan abroad back then, it would have been fine.

But it was too late for regrets.

Michael had no choice but to make do with Megan.

She wanted a wedding, so he gave her one.

He gave her everything because, apart from atonement, his life seemed to have no other meaning.

Megan glanced at Michael's despondent look and sneered inwardly. It wasn't that he didn't want to hurt her; he despised her.

But what could Megan do in her current state?

Laura and Remy returned to the restaurant, but the vibe was totally off.

Especially Laura, thinking about Michael and Megan, the two people she hated most being in the same restaurant, she didn't want to stay any longer. "I'm done eating."

"Okay." Remy stood up and said, "It's still early, we can wait a bit."

"I'm a bit tired, I want to go back," Laura interrupted him.

Remy was stunned for a couple of seconds, then nodded. "I'll take you."

"No need, I'll call a car myself. Besides, it's not convenient for you to go to the Presidential Palace area," Laura refused.

After Remy paid the bill, he walked out with Laura and saw her into a taxi.

Looking at her reflection in the window, Laura felt the night had been terrible, but she still told the driver to stop up ahead.

As soon as she got out of the car, Laura received a call from Derek. "Why did you finish dinner so early?"
