Chapter 1019 Oliver is My Child

Nathaniel was floored by Joseph's words.

After a long pause, he stammered, "Mr. Hernandez, how did you find out?"

Joseph, grappling with pain and sorrow, was equally shocked.

'Did Nathaniel just say what I think he did? Am I hearing things?' Joseph thought, confused and momentarily speechless.

The longer Joseph stayed silent, the more panicked Nathaniel became. "Mr. Hernandez, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."

"So Oliver is my child?" Joseph quickly tried to confirm.

Nathaniel, thinking Joseph knew everything, grew even more anxious. "Mr. Hernandez, I'm sorry. You should talk to Mrs. Brooks about this. It's between you two. I promised her I wouldn't say anything."

From Nathaniel's tone, Joseph was certain. He knew Nathaniel too well; if it wasn't true, he would have denied it outright.

It seemed that Oliver, the kid in kindergarten who looked a lot like Cassie, was his son.

Just moments ago, he had thought Oliver was David and Cassie's child.

The thought had driven him to the brink of despair.

He never expected Cassie to deceive him.

'Wait, I remembered Cassie was pregnant with twins back then, so there should be another child.'

In a flash, Joseph thought of Sophia. He had initially believed Sophia had lost her mother, and because Cassie took special care of her, Sophia became so attached to Cassie.

Cassie had been too good to Sophia.

If it were before, he wouldn't have doubted it, as he believed those two children were gone. But now, Sophia and Oliver were in the same kindergarten and had a good relationship. Considering that Liam was involved in Cassie's fake death, maybe he had known all along that Cassie's children were still alive. 'So, could it be that Sophia was actually my daughter?'

When this thought resurfaced, Joseph was so excited he trembled all over.

"Nathaniel, who is your boss?" Joseph demanded coldly through gritted teeth. "I ask you, is Sophia also my daughter, not Liam's?"

Nathaniel was extremely frustrated. Joseph, who had been numb for three years, was suddenly enlightened, putting a lot of pressure on him.

Joseph sneered. "If you don't tell me, I can just do a paternity test myself."

Nathaniel had a headache. He knew that once a paternity test was done, there would be no hiding it from Joseph. He said, "Mr. Hernandez, the children are indeed Mrs. Brooks's, but they have nothing to do with you. You just donated a sperm."

These words were the only time Nathaniel had ever talked back and been disrespectful to Joseph in all the years he had worked for him.

But Joseph didn't blame him at all. In fact, Joseph was so excited that his eyes turned red.

He really had children. And they were twins!

When Joseph first heard that Sophia was Liam's daughter, he was so jealous and envious. Joseph never expected Sophia to be his daughter.

No wonder, even though he didn't like children, he found Sophia so adorable.

"Nathaniel, I need to know the truth from back then," Joseph said excitedly.

Nathaniel was stunned. "You don't know the truth, so how did you find out that the two children weren't dead?"

"You don't need to know that," Joseph said, his voice trembling and losing patience. "Nathaniel, I'm begging you."

For the first time, as a boss, he was so earnest in his plea to Nathaniel, which startled him.

"Mr. Hernandez, please don't say that. Actually, it was Mrs. Brooks who suggested pretending the children were miscarried because you insisted on having the children and giving them to Megan to raise. At that time, I didn't believe Megan would treat the children well. I was afraid they would end up like you did in your childhood, so I agreed to Mrs. Brooks's request. I couldn't do it alone, so Liam helped."

Nathaniel sighed. "Actually, you should thank Liam. It was Liam who sent Mrs. Brooks abroad and hired the top doctors to save the children. During that time, Mrs. Brooks was forced to take a lot of medication for mental illness, and the children's condition was very bad. Basically, after going abroad, Mrs. Brooks spent the last few months in the hospital to protect the pregnancy. The children were born prematurely and had to stay in an incubator for two months to survive."

Joseph listened, almost suffocating from the pain.

It turned out that Cassie and the children had suffered more than he had imagined.

No wonder she hated him so much.

He was a complete scumbag.

He had always cursed Liam, but he wasn't even as good as Liam.

Nathaniel said, "Mr. Hernandez, to be honest, your behavior back then made me very angry. It didn't matter if you wanted to be with Megan, but why did you have to hurt Mrs. Brooks like that? You even wanted to take her children away. You were really too much."

Joseph felt increasingly ashamed.

Looking back now, he felt like he had been insane.

If Cassie were in front of him, he would definitely kneel down and beg for her forgiveness.

"I actually knew a long time ago that Sophia was your child, but I didn't say anything because I knew if I did, you would use Sophia to threaten Mrs. Brooks or take Sophia away from her. That wouldn't be fair to her.

Nathaniel said very regretfully, "Mr. Hernandez, I sincerely hope you don't try to take Sophia and Oliver away. You have no idea how much Mrs. Brooks has suffered for them. You haven't even raised them. All your money was spent on Megan. From the moment Mrs. Brooks got pregnant, all you did was endlessly torment her. Mr. Hernandez, I know I'm being harsh, but this is what I've wanted to say for three years."

"Nathaniel, I don't blame you." Joseph's voice was hoarse. "On the contrary, I'm very grateful to you. Thank you. Don't worry. I won't try to take Sophia and Oliver. I don't have that right. But from now on, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to them."

Nathaniel breathed a sigh of relief.

Joseph suddenly said, "Drive over and pick me up. We're going to visit Mr. Garrison."

Nathaniel was stunned. "I thought you wouldn't be in the mood to go now."

"I'm really not in the mood, but I know my responsibilities are even greater now." Joseph's lips unconsciously curved into a gentle smile. "I have two children. I have to fight for them."

He glanced at the kindergarten behind him.

When he came, he felt like the world was collapsing. When he left, he saw hope for the future.
