Chapter 558
Joseph's voice was icy as he retorted, "This is none of your concern. It's all Sarah's doing." His words hung heavy in the air, a bitter accusation. "Can Lucas find no other woman to entangle himself with, save for one from the entertainment industry?"
Megan glanced at her wristwatch, her voice casual as she responded. "Lucas has always been a womanizer. Perhaps he's merely toying with her and they'll part ways in a few days." She shifted the conversation back to the matter at hand. "Let's focus on the treatment for now."
"Very well," Joseph agreed, rising from his seat.
In the treatment room, Megan unlocked her phone and began to play a song. The melody was foreign to Joseph, an ancient tune that echoed through the room. "Why the music today?" Joseph inquired, his curiosity piqued.
"I'm experimenting with a different treatment method," Megan explained, producing an aged coin from her pocket. "This is a Sanskrit song. Observe the coin closely later."
Three minutes passed before a single "ding" resonated in Joseph's ears. His consciousness slipped away from him, his dark pupils emptying.
Megan confirmed Joseph's unconscious state with a series of questions before leaning down to whisper in his ear. "Joseph, Megan is the woman you love most. You love Megan the most, and you dislike Cassie the most."
At four in the afternoon, nestled in the quiet of the back mountain, Cassie delicately picked a flower. Rosalind approached her, concern etched on her face. " Cassie, why don't you return to the villa? Joseph has been upset by your absence."
"Do you wish for him to be angry with me upon my return?" Cassie retorted, lowering her head to inhale the sweet scent of the flower. "No, every time I see Megan, I end up quarreling with Joseph. I refuse to let it affect my mood."
"But aren't you worried that by ignoring the situation, Megan will truly steal Joseph away?" Rosalind sighed heavily. " Cassie, to be frank, if you and Joseph divorce, the Hernandez family won't allow you to take the children. You've endured so much to bear them. Can you stand to hear them call Megan 'mom' someday?"
Joe chimed in, nodding in agreement. "If Megan treats the children well, then it's acceptable. But if not... Joseph suffered an abusive childhood, and the old lady is too frail to provide much care."
A chilling calm settled in Cassie's eyes. She would never allow Megan to become a stepmother to her children. She was certain that Megan, that cruel woman, would mistreat them. Cassie had been evading the issue in her exhaustion, but Rosalind and Joe's words served as a stark reminder.
"Alright, I'll return," she finally conceded.
Avoidance was not a solution.
