Chapter 1753 Bernice would be furious, right?
Lucas puffed on a few cigarettes in his office, his ridiculously handsome face hidden behind a veil of smoke.
No one could make out his features or the icy look in his eyes.
Then, there was a knock at the door.
"Come in."
His voice was cold, and it wasn't until Erin walked in with Sarah that Sarah's masked and sunglass-covered face became recognizable.
"Mom, why aren't you resting at home? What are you doing here?" Lucas stubbed out his cigarette, frowning and looking impatiently at Sarah.
"Come on, Sarah, take off your mask," Erin said.
Sarah quickly removed her mask and sunglasses, revealing a swollen face as she fought back tears. "Lucas, you have to stand up for me."
Lucas's eyes swept over Sarah's face, showing clear disdain. "Pretty ugly."
"Lucas," Sarah said, her voice full of hurt.
Erin's face hardened. "How can you talk like that? Bernice beat her up. You need to teach Bernice a lesson; she's too arrogant, hitting people in front of everyone."
Lucas had heard about the incident in the conference room.
But Dreamscape Entertainment Group had a ton of issues, and he was too lazy to deal with them. Now that Sarah had dragged Erin to him, Lucas was genuinely annoyed.
He was fed up with Sarah's endless complaints.
He was fed up with Bernice's arrogant attitude.
These women, causing trouble at such a critical moment.
"If you don't believe me, watch the video yourself." Erin handed over Sarah's phone, which had surveillance footage from the conference room.
Lucas didn't take it. The video had no sound, but it was clear that Bernice had made the first move and was very cocky after hitting Sarah.
A hint of displeasure flashed in his eyes.
Sarah saw this and said, "I really didn't provoke her. Everyone in the conference room saw it. She knocked me to the ground and didn't even apologize. Then she hit me again. She's just bullying me because she's your woman."
Erin angrily said, "Bernice went too far. She even hired online trolls to smear Sarah, saying Sarah had slept with Herschel. Sarah's comeback plan was going well, but now the production team is delaying her entry, possibly wanting to terminate the contract. Lucas, you must teach Bernice a lesson this time."
"What do you want me to do?" Lucas raised an eyebrow, "You must have a plan if you both came here together."
Sarah felt a bit nervous under his gaze, but fortunately, she had the foresight to bring Erin along.
Erin said, "You know best whether Sarah slept with Herschel. If it weren't for Sarah continuously giving me blood transfusions over the past two years, I wouldn't be alive. Bernice first hit her, then spread rumors to smear Sarah. She must pay the price. To make people forget about Sarah's issue, we need to expose something even more scandalous to divert the public's attention. I heard Bernice had slept with Gary before."
Some things go without saying.
Lucas didn't look at Erin but stared at Sarah with cold eyes. "You want me to expose Bernice and Gary's affair?"
Erin frowned, "Why are you looking at Sarah? This idea was mine."
"Mom, you two are still too naive to play tricks in front of me." Lucas squinted, his voice cold, "I know Sarah better than anyone."Sarah felt super embarrassed. "I'm doing this for your sake. Lately, everyone's been talking about the company's artists, except Bernice. She's barely been affected. Lucas, Bernice is a superstar. Exposing a scandal now would shift the focus away from you, Dreamscape Entertainment Group, me, and even other artists."
"This plan is solid," Erin chimed in. "Bernice is just a star. We can always promote someone else. I heard tonight, major media outlets will report on Dreamscape Entertainment Group getting fined heavily. It'll be a hot topic. We need someone to divert attention, and Bernice is perfect for that."
"Lucas, Bernice was with Gary willingly. All the consequences are on her," Sarah added.
Lucas looked at Sarah with a cold smile. "Your plan is pretty good."
Sarah felt a chill under his gaze and quickly lowered her head. "Lucas, you promised me you'd support my comeback. I trust you'll keep your word."
Lucas's expression grew darker and more complex.
The office was quiet for a while before he said, "Mom, I still have work to do. Take Sarah and leave, don't bother me anymore."
Erin opened her mouth in dissatisfaction, but Sarah quickly tugged at her, "Let's go."
Erin frowned, "If you don't do it, I will. No matter what, I will protect Sarah."
With that, she pulled Sarah away.
Lucas tilted his head, pressing his long fingers lightly against his temple.
Ten minutes later, he contacted Max.
Max was shocked after hearing the plan. "If we really do this, Bernice will go nuts."
Lucas said indifferently, "She entered the entertainment industry for money. Problems that can be solved with money are not problems."
Max didn't know what to say.
From his interactions with Bernice, he felt she wasn't someone who could be bought off with money.
"Otherwise, do you have any other solutions?" Lucas asked.
Max sighed, "There are other superstars in the entertainment industry with some negative info, but those people have connections. Exposing them would offend some powerful folks. Only Bernice has the least background. Her original family situation wasn't great, and she came from a small place."
"It's settled then," Lucas said.
Max was frustrated, "This is really harsh. Should I give Bernice a heads-up?"
"Have her come see me tomorrow," Lucas decided nonchalantly.
That night, major media outlets focused on reporting that Dreamscape Entertainment Group was being heavily fined.
After seeing the news, Bernice drank some wine and went to sleep.
The next day, she was woken up by a knock on the door.
She put on her robe and, still sleepy, went to open the door. "It's only six in the morning. Why are you here?"
"Something happened," Gabriella said urgently, "Bernice, your affair with Gary has been exposed. Now the company's entrance is swarming with reporters, and there are reporters outside your neighborhood, too. The internet is flooded with news about you being someone's mistress. Gary is already engaged, and he even has a fiancée."
Bernice was fully awake now. She opened her phone and saw many people spreading intimate photos of her and Gary from college. A famous blogger revealed that Bernice was kept by Gary during her school days, and after she got into the entertainment industry through him, he dumped her. She even attempted suicide to force Gary to marry her.
There were hospital records and surgery proofs, making it almost certain.
