Chapter 1289 Even Mr. Hernandez is Jealous

The lawyer sighed, "Look, they're probably looking at a year or two tops. They didn't mean to beat up Robert and Helen. Dude just bumped into them and stepped on 'em a few times. They're ready to pay up, admit they messed up, and say sorry."

David smirked, "She really went all out this time."

"You mean Cassie?" The lawyer eyed him carefully.

"How can you just throw Cassie's name around like that?" David shot him a look.

The lawyer shivered and shut up real quick.

David opened the window and loosened his tie. These days, he was as powerful as Joseph used to be. Even with his bad rep, once he got power, people started kissing up to him. Even those women who used to be scared of him were now all over him.

If he just wanted a hookup, no problem. But if he was talking about someone he really liked, it was still Cassie.

Cassie was smart, wise, patient, cunning, and drop-dead gorgeous. She was the best woman he'd ever met.

Too bad, though.

She'd rather stick with a fool than admit she messed up.

David couldn't help but chuckle darkly.

David had turned Joseph into a fool. In the end, he was gonna take everything from the Hernandez Group.

Didn't Joseph used to push him around just 'cause he was the big boss of the Hernandez Group?

Making Joseph a fool was just the start.

Nighttime.

At the villa, after dinner, Cassie sat by the basketball court, watching Sophia, Oliver, and Joseph shoot hoops.

After a bit, Nathaniel came over, "Got news from the cops. It was some gang leader who just got out of prison. He confessed. Said he had beef with Olivia. Robert and his wife wouldn't drop it and wanted the cops to look into you, but the evidence was solid, and the cops closed the case."

Cassie was a bit surprised, "It wrapped up that fast? I thought David would have the cops come after me."

Nathaniel grinned, "You don't know, the cop who came to the hospital today is actually Police Chief Adrian's son. After hearing you out, he checked Robert and Helen's records and didn't like what he saw, so he didn't follow David's orders."

"That's good." Cassie nodded, "I was worried David was setting me up. Guess I was overthinking. I'm kinda curious who did it today. If I knew them, maybe we could be friends."

Nathaniel said, "Who knows, Olivia's pissed off a lot of people. Ever since she became Isabella's daughter, she's been super cocky. Plenty of folks can't stand her."

Nathaniel paused and said, "Just got word, the Hernandez Group's having a board meeting the day after tomorrow. It's probably about Olivia's mess and the company's next leader. I checked, and Olivia's still listed as Robert's daughter."

Cassie rubbed her temples. She knew it would go down like this, which was why Robert and his wife were so full of themselves.

"Cassie, why are you hanging with him again?" Joseph suddenly ran over with a basketball, glaring at Nathaniel. He was rocking a blue jersey, had a buzz cut, and his handsome face was drenched in sweat. With those innocent eyes, he looked like a high school kid.

Nathaniel felt awkward, not expecting Joseph to get all jealous, "I was just updating Ms. Brooks on some company stuff. Ms. Brooks, it's getting late, I'll head out now."

Cassie watched Nathaniel leave in a hurry, then grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat off Joseph's face, "Joey, you gotta be nice to Mr. Garcia. He's done a lot for the Hernandez family and always has your back."

"I don't even know him that well. Why would he care about me?" Joseph asked, all curious.

Cassie sighed and explained, "Your last name is Hernandez. Your family has a big company that's in some trouble right now. Mr. Garcia is super capable, and lots of people want him on their team. But he's loyal to the Hernandez family and stayed to help me out. If he leaves, I'm in big trouble."

Joseph listened, looking a bit lost.

After a moment, Joseph nodded and pouted, "I didn't mean to. I just made an awesome three-pointer, and you didn't even see it."

"Three-pointer?" Cassie was surprised, "That's impressive."

"Yeah, I'm just that good." Joseph puffed out his chest proudly.

"Mommy, Joey is really good." Sophia ran over and whispered in Cassie's ear, "Didn't you say he has the mind of a two-year-old? I thought I could bully him, but he's still as good at basketball as before."

Cassie laughed and poked her head, "You always bully people."

"No, he bullied me." Sophia stomped her foot.

"Your basketball skills just suck." Joseph looked at Oliver with a smug grin, "Oliver's barely better than you, Sophia."

Feeling insulted, Oliver was speechless.

"I'm done playing. I'm gonna find Spencer to practice combat skills." Oliver coolly tossed the ball and walked off.

"Combat skills? I wanna go too." Joseph's eyes lit up, "Once I learn, I can protect Cassie."

Half an hour later, Cassie sat on the side and watched Joseph land a punch on Spencer. She couldn't help but smirk.

"Joseph, please stay away from me. Don't make me teach you anymore." Spencer was on the verge of tears. Joseph was even better than him. Was he here to cause trouble?

Joseph pouted and ran to Cassie, "Cassie, his combat skills aren't that great. It's a waste to let him teach us. Don't let him teach Oliver either."

Cassie was silent.

It wasn't that Spencer wasn't good; it was that Joseph was too good.

Spencer's face turned red with embarrassment, "I can rank in the top twenty globally in combat skills. Few people in Dragon can beat me. You're just too good."

"Alright, alright, you keep teaching Oliver."

Cassie quickly dragged Joseph away from the scene.

Oliver, left behind, looked at Spencer with a complicated expression. Spencer sneered, "Oliver, do you not want me to teach you? Fine, but you have to see if Joseph can teach you."

"Forget it, let's continue." Oliver sighed.

Spencer was super frustrated. Lots of people offered him big bucks to hire him, but today he felt rejected by a kid.
