Chapter 1123 Joseph Had No Shame at All
Cassie grinned, "Mr. Jude, you don't need to stress so much. You love Megan, right? Accept her flaws. Besides, she needs a man. If she messes up, so what? you and Megan are a great match."
"True. Go after Megan. She must be feeling down. Comfort her," Laura said, giving Cassie a thumbs up and thinking she truly deserved to be her best friend.
Michael was initially sad, but Cassie and Laura's teasing made him blush.
"Laura, that's enough," Michael said, looking dejected.
"Yeah, enough." Laura turned to Bernice. "Didn't you promise dinner tonight? Let's go. Cassie, want to join?"
"Sure." Cassie liked Bernice too. Just as she was about to nod, she saw Joseph's expression. She blinked and quickly said, "How about Joseph treats us tonight? We can celebrate his court win."
"Cassie." Joseph wasn't pleased; he just wanted to be with Cassie.
"Why always just us? It's more fun with more people," Cassie interrupted.
Joseph felt hurt. They had just reconciled, and Cassie already found being alone with him boring.
"Don't you want to?" Cassie raised an eyebrow when he stayed silent.
"No, just thinking where to go," Joseph forced a smile.
As long as Cassie was happy, Joseph was willing to do anything.
"Decided?" Cassie asked with a smile.
"Yeah, Michael took us to Flavors of Elysium last time. It was good," Joseph said quickly.
"Sounds good. Ms. Ramsey, okay with you?" Cassie asked Bernice.
Bernice looked at Joseph silently. She didn't want to go if Joseph was going, but seeing Laura and Cassie looking at her, she nodded.
"Then let's go." Joseph put his arm around Cassie's waist and walked out.
Laura and Bernice followed.
In the elevator, they noticed Michael had quietly followed.
Except for Joseph, everyone looked at Michael with disdain, especially Laura, whose eyes were full of hostility. "You don't plan to join us for dinner, do you?"
"Joseph is my friend. Isn't it natural to celebrate his win?" Michael looked at Joseph. "Joseph, you don't want to kick me out, do you?"
Joseph stayed silent.
He looked at Michael's shameless face, feeling a bit speechless. He knew Michael all too well. Michael probably accepted reality and now wanted to get close to Laura to return to the Jude family.
Laura scoffed, "You still have the nerve to celebrate? Weren't you on Megan's side in the last case? Didn't you want Megan to win? Now that you've been abandoned, you come back to find friends. I've never seen someone as shameless as you."
Michael's face burned with embarrassment. "Laura, why so sharp-tongued?"
"Sorry, just telling the truth," Laura retorted, "Do you know what friendship means? It's like Cassie and me, never abandoning each other, respecting her likes, and supporting her decisions. It's not about making her do what you want; that's selfish."
Joseph was pretty happy with this. Laura's words were sharp but honest, not manipulative. Plus, if it weren't for Laura, he and Cassie wouldn't have met and fallen in love.
Michael, a grown man, was blushing and speechless under Laura's scolding. In the past, he would've retorted, but now he realized he'd been too selfish towards Joseph.
"Alright, I know you're right, but this is between Joseph and me," Michael said sullenly.
Laura nodded. "You're right. I just can't stand how thick-skinned you are."
Michael was speechless.
If it were the old him, he would've argued with Laura.
But now, he just moved his lips and stayed silent.
When the elevator arrived, he followed Joseph and got into his car.
Laura got into Bernice's car.
They headed to Flavors of Elysium Restaurant.
In the sports car, Joseph held Cassie's hand with one hand and the steering wheel with the other. "Cassie, when the ten billion dollars come in, I'll transfer it to you."
"Okay." Cassie nodded.
Joseph's eyes widened in surprise. "I thought I'd have to convince you to take it."
"You're overthinking it. I'll keep it for Sophia and Oliver. Who knows what the future holds? Better to have more money for their security," Cassie said calmly.
"The only thing that will happen in the future is that I'll love you more and more," Joseph said tenderly.
Cassie blushed. "Please, Michael is still here."
Joseph didn't even glance at Michael in the back, smiling mischievously. "Really? I can't see him. I only have eyes for you."
"You're so cheesy," Cassie pouted.
"I'm only cheesy for you."
Michael, treated like air, stayed silent the whole way.
Had he known, he would've preferred to ride with Laura and face her sharp tongue rather than this.
Halfway there, Joseph got a call from Lucas. "I heard you won the case. Congrats. You have to treat us to dinner tonight."
"I was planning to. Why don't you come over?" Joseph said, "But don't bring Sarah."
"Sure."
After hanging up, Joseph looked at Cassie nervously. "Cassie, is it okay to invite Lucas? If you don't like it, I'll tell him not to come."
"It's fine. I even let Michael join in." Cassie smiled. "Besides, Lucas helped me deal with David last time. I owe him."
"Cassie, thank you." Joseph smiled affectionately.
Michael was speechless, thinking, 'Joseph has no shame at all.'
When they arrived at Flavors of Elysium Restaurant, Cassie, Laura, and Bernice walked ahead. Michael finally had a chance to grab Joseph. "Joseph, you're too much. Ever since you got back with Cassie, Lucas and I are dispensable to you."
"Good that you know. If you want our friendship to continue, don't offend Cassie," Joseph said seriously. "Otherwise, if she tells me not to get too close to you, I'll follow her."
