Chapter 1084 Give Joseph a Chance

Cassie felt helpless.

Before she could speak, Mildred's excited voice came through. "What? You two got back together?"

Rosalind couldn't stop smiling. "It's good that you reconciled. If it weren't for all those misunderstandings, you wouldn't have broken up in the first place."

Mabel sighed deeply. "It's for the best. Sophia and Oliver will grow up healthier in a complete family."

Walter, sitting in his wheelchair, coughed lightly. "Since you two are back together, don't separate so easily in the future."

Cassie looked at the Hernandez family behind her, feeling utterly speechless.

What made her even more speechless was Joseph's serious expression as he said, "I will definitely treat Cassie well from now on. After going through so many ups and downs, I have deeply realized my mistakes..."

Before he could finish, Cassie unexpectedly stomped on his foot with her heel.

"You all misunderstood. We didn't get back together. I'm just here to see Sophia and Oliver," Cassie explained calmly.

"Yes, not yet, but I won't give up." Joseph nodded vigorously despite the pain. "Cassie, can you please move your foot?"

"You deserve it." Cassie mouthed silently, but everyone could see it clearly.

"Alright. Joseph deserves it," Mildred said with a laugh, "Come on in and eat. Sophia and Oliver have been talking about you all day."

"Mommy, let's go inside," Oliver and Sophia said, each holding one of her hands.

Cassie walked in. She didn't hold much resentment towards the other members of the Hernandez family.

Although the Hernandez family initially disapproved of her marrying Joseph, they supported her after she became pregnant. Unfortunately, Joseph didn't listen to anyone at that time.

Once inside, Cassie noticed that the villa was filled with toys everywhere.

When she came in earlier, she even saw a slide on the lawn.

It was clear that Sophia and Oliver were living well here, and the Hernandez family treated them very well.

"Cassie, thank you for giving birth to Sophia and Oliver," Mildred said sincerely. "Their arrival has brought us a lot of joy. They have also made Walter and me feel less lonely."

Walter nodded in agreement. "The Hernandez family owes you too much. You are a good person."

"Mildred, Walter, the past is the past," Cassie replied calmly.

Mabel smiled gently. "It may be the past for you, but not for Joseph."

Cassie felt awkward.

Fortunately, Mabel didn't say much more, only sighing. "We've heard about your situation. You're smarter than me; you discovered it early and had evidence of David's infidelity."

Cassie had heard about Mabel's situation. She felt a sense of relief, thankful that Arthur had left her a final warning and Kayla had informed her. Otherwise, she might have ended up like Mabel.

"Mommy, will you draw with us?" Sophia ran over with a paintbrush, clinging to her.

Cassie's attention immediately shifted to Sophia and Oliver.

With Cassie there, Sophia and Oliver obediently ate their meal.

After dinner, Sophia and Oliver pulled her to play soccer.

By the end, Cassie was exhausted, so she watched from the sidelines while Joseph played with Sophia and Oliver.

Mabel walked over, looking at them on the field, and said with a smile, "Sophia and Oliver haven't been this happy in a long time. They say their dad is a jerk, but they're slowly accepting him, even Oliver."

Cassie pursed her lips. "Mabel, what do you mean?"

"I just hope you give Joseph a chance," Mabel said bitterly, "It's my fault that Joseph and you ended up like this. I didn't take care of him much because I had another family, leaving him lonely and lacking love. Megan appeared when he was most vulnerable, and he saw her as sunshine in his life. However, he didn't realize that some people might have approached him with ulterior motives from the start."

Cassie was stunned. "Pardon?"

"I investigated. Back then, shortly after Joseph was admitted to the psychiatric hospital, Megan also went in. It is said that she voluntarily sought treatment due to the trauma of losing her mother. However, among all the children in the hospital, she specifically chose to befriend Joseph and played only with him," Mabel remarked.

Cassie was shocked. "Do you mean Megan knew Joseph was there and deliberately went in to get close to him? How is that possible? She was just a child back then."

Mabel shook her head. "At that time, Megan wasn't valued in the Zenith family, especially with Nina around. Megan needed a backer. To her, Joseph was an opportunity. Even if Joseph had a mental illness, he was still part of the Hernandez family, with countless possibilities for the future. And Megan seized that opportunity."

Cassie was silent for a moment, then said, "But how did Megan know Joseph was in the psychiatric hospital? His condition was kept secret."

"Megan's relative worked as an office manager at the psychiatric hospital for a year before being transferred," Mabel said, looking at her.

Cassie was speechless for a long time, pondering, 'Megan was so young back then, yet so scheming.'

"Does Joseph know about this?" Cassie asked.

Mabel shook her head. "No, I haven't told him. He already resents Megan enough. I don't want him to know that Megan manipulated him for over twenty years."

Cassie was also speechless. She thought if she were Joseph, she might be furious.

"If I could have given him a complete family, maybe he wouldn't have been so easily manipulated." Mabel suddenly looked at her. "When you married David, Oliver and Sophia said they were happy for you, but they didn't want to live with you. They're young, but they know that's your home, not theirs."

Cassie's heart inexplicably tightened, and her face turned slightly pale.

Mabel continued, "I talked to Sophia. She's actually afraid that if you have a child with David, you won't love them as much. But they don't want to tell you, fearing it would make you unhappy. Joseph has made many mistakes. It's normal if you don't want to forgive him. But at least you both understand each other. If you find someone else in the future, can you be sure you'll understand each other? Won't there be another David?"

"Grandma, Mommy, did you see that? I just scored a goal!" Sophia suddenly ran over excitedly.
