Chapter 1165 Meet Trick With Trick

After wrapping up the interview, Joseph checked his phone and saw a new text. He read it and then deleted it right away.
"Joseph, the CEO of ElectraTech Innovations just called. They want to buy thirty thousand transformers and sign a five-year deal with us," Mabel said, walking in with a big smile.
The Hernandez Group had been through a lot lately, mostly because of her. Now that things were looking up, Mabel was over the moon.
"ElectraTech was supposed to work with the Chamberlain Group. We snagged the deal from them. Marcus must be fuming," Joseph said, leaning back in his chair.
Mabel smirked. "The Chamberlain Group always steals others' work. This time, they got a taste of their own medicine. They invested twenty billion in the electrical field, and now with our new product, they'll lose it all. Great job."
"It wasn't my idea; it was Dad's," Joseph said suddenly.
Mabel was surprised and felt a mix of emotions. "The Garrison Group signed a contract with the Chamberlain Group before. Will Dad be in trouble?"
"No," Joseph shook his head. "Dad's got it all covered. But you..."
He paused, looking serious. "I heard Marcus is planning to target you."
Mabel was shocked. After a moment, she clenched her fists. "What does he want to do, kill me?"
"Kidnap you, torture you, and force me to back off our new product launch. If I don't, he'll kill you," Joseph said quietly.
"Despicable," Mabel trembled with anger. "Can't he play fair?"
Even though she knew Marcus was ruthless, it was hard to accept he wanted to kidnap her. "Joseph, is this for real?"
"Absolutely. Don't tell anyone," Joseph said, standing up. "We have two options. One, I can have people protect you 24/7, but Marcus has sent top assassins. If they fail, they'll know their plan was leaked, and my undercover agent might get exposed. Two, you get kidnapped, and I'll place a tracker on you. When Marcus tortures you, I'll call the police and rescue you. We can catch Marcus and his assassins red-handed. Without Marcus, the Chamberlain Group will fall apart."
Mabel stared at Joseph in shock. After a long silence, she said, "I choose the second option. Marcus has hurt our family, Richard, and maybe even Liam. I want him in jail."
Joseph loosened his tie and sighed. "Mom, I have to warn you, once Marcus captures you, he won't hold back. He'll torture you, and it will be very painful."
"No pain compares to Isaac's. Since Richard's mental illness, he hasn't spoken to me. And nothing hurts more than Liam's disappearance," Mabel said, her eyes welling up. "Even if I die, I deserve it. But remember, even if you have to find me through my corpse, you must catch Marcus."
Joseph looked at her for a long time. "Later, pretend to feel unwell and go to the Nelson family's hospital. Lucas will inject a tracking device into you."
"Okay."
After Mabel went to the hospital, Joseph headed to Cameron's villa.
"Dad, did the Chamberlains contact you today?"
"Felix brought people to Yugrot to find me, but he doesn't know I never left Whisperlyn City," Cameron said, watering the garden. "Don't worry. Apart from some bad press, the Chamberlain Group can't do much with just one contract."
Joseph walked over and said, "The Chamberlain family plans to kidnap Mom to threaten me. She agreed to get a tracking device. When the time is right, we'll catch Marcus."
Cameron's arm stiffened. After a moment, he said, "This is the quickest way to catch Marcus. If it fails, he'll take the money and leave Madison. Catching him then will be tough."
Joseph frowned deeply.
"Joseph," Cameron put down the kettle and patted his shoulder. "This all started because of Mabel. If she doesn't do this, she'll never be able to face the Hernandez family."
"I got it, Dad," Joseph nodded but sighed deeply.
That night, Joseph returned to the Hernandez Villa. After a shower, he didn't join Sophia and Oliver for reading but sat alone in the study.
He didn't know how long he'd been sitting there when Cassie walked in. Warm light fell on her hair, and she smiled. "Mr. Hernandez, why aren't you going to bed? Too excited to sleep because you're about to become the richest man in Madison again?"
"Where are Sophia and Oliver?" Joseph reached out to her.
"I finally got them to sleep," Cassie said, sitting on his lap. Seeing his furrowed brows, she stroked his thick eyebrows. "You have something on your mind, don't you?"
"I'm worried about my mom," Joseph said, tapping his phone on the table. "I can't reach her, and her assistant isn't answering either. Something might have happened to her."
Cassie was startled and tried to get up, but Joseph held her waist tightly. "This is a plan my mom and I devised. It's the only way to catch Marcus. Cassie, I used to dislike her a lot. She never took any responsibility for me. But now I realize she's still my mother. I'm afraid something will happen to her."
Cassie looked at him, unsure what to say. "Nothing will happen. Marcus captured her to threaten you. If he hasn't succeeded, Mabel won't be in danger."
"Cassie, you're always so smart," Joseph cradled her face. "But Marcus will vent his anger on my mom since I tricked him this time."
Cassie held his hand tightly and asked, "When do you plan to act?"
