Chapter 954 Goodbye
"Liam, you're done for," Athena said with a cold smile, raising an eyebrow.
Liam felt a chill run down his spine. He hadn't expected everyone to be fooled by Athena.
Athena had made Liam's life a living hell, but right now, survival was his top priority.
Forcing a smile, Liam said, "Athena, I never blamed you. You did a great job. You did what I wanted to do but didn't dare to. We're on the same team. My dad is Marcus, and you're working for him. Let me go, and I'll make sure Marcus values you more in the future."
Athena chuckled. "Liam, you're so naive."
Liam's forced smile froze. A thought crossed his mind, but he didn't want to accept it. "What do you mean?"
"It's clear. Since I'm under orders from the Chamberlain family, without their command, I wouldn't have brought you here." Athena dragged him to the edge of the cliff. "Liam, take a good look. Below is your grave."
Liam's mind was spinning. His eyes filled with an unbearable redness. "My dad wants me dead? Why? I'm his son."
"Maybe you're useless," Athena said with a smile. "Liam, goodbye. You're doomed."
With that, Athena pushed Liam into the raging sea below.
After confirming that Liam had no chance of surviving the fall, Athena drove away.
In downtown Whisperlyn City.
Cassie didn't even go to the office. She, along with Spencer and Peter, searched everywhere for Liam, but after half a day, there was no sign of him, not even in the hospitals.
Cassie had to call Joseph. "Joseph, where exactly did you dump Liam? I can't find him anywhere. Are you lying to me? Is he still at Dragon?"
Joseph frowned. "I had Wyatt dump Liam in that old alley in the north of the city."
"We've searched there, but we didn't find him, and the hospitals haven't admitted him either," Cassie shouted. "I think you just want Liam dead. Aren't you afraid of delaying his treatment by dumping him there?"
"If I were going to teach Liam a lesson, I wouldn't beat him up and then take him to the hospital," Joseph said, getting a bit angry. "Maybe the Chamberlain family took him. Marcus is very powerful; he can even topple our Hernandez House. The Chamberlain family can do anything."
"No, it doesn't seem like the Chamberlain family took Liam," Cassie said, growing more anxious. "I had someone check. Marcus was at the company all day and didn't go anywhere. There's no movement from the Chamberlain family either."
Joseph's heart sank. Liam was, after all, related to him by blood. Joseph hated Liam but never intended to kill him.
"Joseph, have you considered that your Hernandez family has enemies? Dumping Liam in a secluded place, aren't you afraid something might happen to him? Moreover, someone might know Liam is Marcus's son and kidnap him," Cassie angrily hung up the phone.
Joseph was stunned. He hadn't thought much about it before, but after hearing Cassie, he thought she was right.
Joseph quickly called Wyatt over. "Go find out where Liam is and if he went to the Chamberlain family."
Wyatt was taken aback. "Mr. Hernandez, didn't you ask me to dump Liam this morning? Why are we looking for him now?"
"Liam might be missing," Joseph gritted his teeth, his face sullen with anger.
Wyatt spent the entire day searching, but it was as if Liam had vanished into thin air. No hospital had admitted a patient by that name.
"Mr. Hernandez, I'm sorry. I couldn't find Liam. It seems he's not with the Chamberlain family either. They haven't called any doctors for him," Wyatt said.
Joseph suddenly kicked over the table in front of him. "When you threw him out, were you followed?"
"No, it's unlikely someone did. The Hernandez family doesn't have enemies that would do that anymore," Wyatt said with a bitter smile.
"What about the nearby surveillance?" Joseph asked through gritted teeth.
"That area is an old district set for demolition. Hardly anyone lives there, and the surveillance cameras have long been out of order," Wyatt explained. "I chose that spot to avoid giving anyone leverage against you."
Joseph rubbed his temples. "Were you the only one who knew Liam was dumped there? Did anyone else at Dragon know?"
Wyatt hesitated. He had planned to go alone, but Athena had insisted on coming along. If Joseph found out he had taken Athena on a mission, it would surely make him discontent.
"It was just me," Wyatt answered.
"Keep looking for Liam," Joseph said, his voice hoarse with difficulty.
Joseph had a bad feeling. If Liam went missing, Marcus might blame him.
The more he thought about it, the more the oppressive anxiety gnawed at Joseph, making him smash the cup on the table.
A series of recent events had overwhelmed him. He hadn't finished dealing with company matters, hadn't visited Walter in the hospital, and now Liam was missing.
At that moment, a deep sense of fatigue and confusion washed over Joseph.
He couldn't bear to think about what would happen if Mabel found out Liam was missing.
At the Chapman family villa, Cassie was also distracted.
Cassie hadn't gone to the office today. The board members kept calling, urging her to attend meetings, but she had no time for that.
Liam was her friend, and his disappearance worried her. Moreover, Liam was Sophia's dad.
Without Liam, the Hernandez family would never let Cassie take Sophia out.
"Mommy, have some vegetables," Oliver said, worried, as he placed a forkful on Cassie's plate.
"Oliver, did you see Sophia at school today?" Cassie asked quietly.
Oliver shook his head. "Sophia has been on leave all week."
"I'll call Sophia," Cassie said. She got up and dialed Sophia's number.
"Mommy..." Sophia's choked voice came through quickly. "I miss you so much. I'm so jealous of Oliver. He can stay with you, but I can't. I haven't been able to reach Liam these past few days. I wanted him to bring me to see you."
Cassie felt a pang of sorrow. She didn't dare tell Sophia that something might have happened to Liam. "Liam... might be busy. Are you okay?"
