Chapter 989 Are You A Pet Dog?
Finally, he drove to the Ocean Blue group.
Upon arrival, after making a round, Michael ran into Diane, who was holding two packs of snacks, hurriedly came out of the elevator.
"Aren't you Laura's assistant?" Michael couldn't recall her name for a moment, having only seen her a few times in meetings before.
"My name is Diane," Diane said. "Ms. Miller ordered some takeout and asked me to get it for her."
"Is this what you're talking about?" Michael pointed to the snacks in her arms, his face darkening.
"Yeah, the Ocean Blue group doesn't have a rule against eating them, right?" Diane was intimidated by his expression.
Of course, the Ocean Blue group had no such rule, but Laura was pregnant, so she couldn't eat them.
Michael suddenly remembered something. "Ms. Miller is still working?"
"Of course, it's not break time now." Diane looked at his increasingly grim face, not understanding what she had said wrong.
"Give it to me. I'll take it to her. Where is she?" Michael snatched the snacks from her.
"She is in the lab," Diane replied.
Michael strode towards the laboratory building. He walked into the lab to find Laura, who was wearing a lab coat and glasses and focused on mixing products.
It was the first time he had seen her like this.
Although they both worked at the same company, he rarely visited the lab, and they often met each other beyond worktime.
At this moment, Laura was wearing a light yellow plaid shirt underneath, but the lab coat completely obscured her curvaceous figure. In her work suit, she was far from "fashionable."
However, her serious and meticulous demeanor made her look like a sacred and rigorous researcher, making Michael not dare to underestimate her.
They say men are very attractive when they work, the same were women.
Hearing footsteps, Laura thought Diane had returned. Without looking up from her work, she raised her hand towards the sound.
Michael looked at her beautiful, clean hand and then at her serious expression.
He was momentarily stunned, then hesitantly placed his hand in hers.
He asked himself inwardly, 'Is this what she meant?'
Laura squeezed the hand, finding it much larger.
She suddenly turned her head, saw Michael's bewildered face, and then looked at his large hand in hers.
After a moment of confusion, Laura angrily threw his hand away. "Michael, are you crazy? What are you doing?"
"You reached out your hand. Isn't that what you meant?" Michael retorted, feeling wronged. "I didn't even mind, and you're yelling at me."
"Are you a pet dog?" Laura scolded. "Only pets respond when their owner reaches out."
"Say that again, I dare you." Michael's handsome face turned red with anger. "I'm your boss. Is this how you talk to your boss? Besides, you reach out to me for no reason first."
"I wasn't reaching out to you. I thought Diane had returned and was asking her to hand me the food."
Speaking of the snacks, Michael coldly snorted. "I threw them away."
"Michael." Laura's bright eyes glared at him angrily. "What right do you have to throw away my stuff?"
"What right?" Michael looked at her belly as if hearing a joke. "Because you're carrying my child, I have to ensure the food for my child is safe."
Laura rubbed her temples. Her mouth was bland and tasteless, and she just wanted something spicy to stimulate her taste buds, but he had ruined it.
"And," Michael continued. "You're pregnant and still working in the lab. Go home and rest."
"Come on." Laura was speechless. "I'm only a little over a month pregnant. If you make me stop working now, I'll die of boredom and get depressed."
"Don't be ungrateful. I'm doing this for your own good," Michael said angrily. "Many women stay home to rest after getting pregnant. Our child is destined to live a life of luxury. The Jude family won't let you suffer. You can enjoy life without working for the rest of your life."
Those words from his mouth made Laura feel strange. She never thought she and Michael would be so entangled.
It made her emotions suddenly complicated.
"Why did you suddenly go quiet?" Michael asked, seeing her staring at him, confused.
Laura sighed. "Michael, even without the Jude family, I could live a life of luxury with the Miller family. But life isn't just about fun. You have to enrich yourself. For me, developing cosmetics that make women beautiful or skincare products that delay aging is a success. When I walk into a store and see the products I developed on the shelves, that pride is something no one can give me."
"So?" Michael was stunned.
"So, even though I'm pregnant, I will still work. It won't affect my pregnancy because I'm doing something I enjoy, and I will also protect the baby." Laura pushed him away, put on gloves, took out a test tube, dipped a cotton swab in the contents, and sniffed it.
Behind her glasses, her long eyelashes were as dense and deep as brushes.
Michael was momentarily entranced, then suddenly shouted, "Laura, you're pregnant and still wearing makeup."
Laura, who was interrupted again, was thoroughly furious. "Are you blind? Where am I wearing makeup?"
"Your eyes." Michael pointed at her. "You have eyeliner and mascara on."
He remembered Megan needed makeup to have such dense lashes.
"I was born with this. I never wear makeup on my eyes," Laura said through gritted teeth.
"I don't believe you." Michael frowned. "You can't fool me."
"Check for yourself." Laura took off her glasses and stared at him without blinking.
Michael had to bend down to look closely at her. He touched her long eyelashes, finding nothing on them.
And it was quite interesting. Every time he touched them, her lashes fluttered like little butterflies.
He poked a few more times until Laura's bright eyes opened, reflecting his childish behavior like a mirror.
Michael suddenly felt embarrassed. He thought he must have gone crazy just now.
Laura was also speechless and a bit embarrassed.
After all, Michael's face, especially when he leaned in close, was more attractive than many celebrities.
Laura said to herself inwardly, 'No wonder idols are so popular. Good looks really are pleasing to the eye, especially since Michael favored bright colors, making him look far younger than his early thirties.'
