Chapter 964 I Heard You Got Hurt

Just after turning around, Lola's beautiful face fell. David had brought her to the auction. Just a moment ago, he was in the private room holding and caressing her.

As soon as they came out, David put on that gentlemanly mask again.

Lola knew she couldn't control David, so she was self-aware.

Besides, Lola didn't envy Cassie at all. On the contrary, Lola thought Cassie was quite foolish. Cassie probably still believed David was deeply in love with her.

In the car, David was driving.

Cassie occupied the passenger seat and retrieved a box from her bag, revealing a blue Patek Philippe mechanical watch.

"This must have cost a fortune," David remarked with concern. "Please don't spend so extravagantly on me in the future. It should be me spoiling you."

"It's okay. It is the first gift I've given you." Cassie took out the watch and put it on David. It looked very elegant and luxurious.

But as she touched David's wrist, she thought of Joseph's.

Joseph's wrist was truly beautiful. He never wore branded watches, but his watches were always designed by top watchmakers. They were understated yet elegant and noble.

But... why was Cassie thinking of that damn Joseph again?

Cassie sighed in frustration and complimented. "It suits you very well."

"Thank you. I really love it," David responded, taking Cassie's hand and expressing regret. "Cassie, I apologize. I acted impulsively that day, only considering my own emotions and overlooking the fact that you are Sophia's mother. Despite my disdain for Joseph, I will stand by your side."

"David, please don't say that. I was selfish and caused you a lot of distress," Cassie also apologized.

"Alright then, let's... reconcile and put our disagreements behind us," David suggested with a smile.

Cassie forced a smile, but after they drove a short distance, she asked, "I didn't expect you to come to tonight's auction. Was it arranged with the Chamberlain family? I remember you used to have a good relationship with Felix. You even attended his wedding."

"Felix is one of my business partners," David admitted, "Now, many people in Madison don't dare to offend the Chamberlain family. I can't go against them either. I didn't think much of the price Marcus offered tonight, but there was no choice. You don't... blame me, right?" David explained.

"I understand." Cassie shook her head. She didn't blame David; she just suddenly realized that David wasn't very assertive. If it were Joseph...

Why was Cassie thinking of Joseph again?

Cassie opened the window, pondering, 'Joseph grew up in a top-tier wealthy family, unlike David, who has to be cautious with every step. There is no comparison between David and Joseph.'

When they arrived at the villa, David parked the car and got out. "I'll stay here tonight."

David's tone was firm. Cassie was stunned for a moment and then said softly, "I'll prepare the guest room for you."

In the guest room, Cassie skillfully removed the bedspread.

Suddenly, a man hugged Cassie from behind.

Cassie knew it was David, and her body was tensed, but David didn't stop. Instead, he pressed Cassie onto the bed.

"Cassie, can you sleep here tonight?" David looked at Cassie with burning eyes. "We are married now. I've been holding back for too long."

Cassie's mind was in chaos, especially when David kissed her. Her body was extremely uncomfortable.

"Mommy..." Sophia's voice suddenly came from the doorway.

Cassie took the opportunity to slip out from under David's arm quickly. "I... I need to help Sophia with her bath. You go to bed early."

As Cassie hurriedly left, David's eyes turned sullen.

David wasn't a fool; he could sense Cassie's physical resistance to him.

He said to himself inwardly, 'Cassie, you resist me so much, but you are willing to accept Joseph. You keep saying you have no feelings for Joseph, but it's all lies.'

In the bathroom, Cassie was helping Sophia with her bath, feeling a bit absent-minded.

Cassie really didn't expect her body to resist David so much.

What should she do? Cassie was now David's wife, and doing it was unavoidable.

"Mommy, were you planning to have a baby with David just now?" Sophia asked, surprising Cassie.

Cassie blushed and pinched Sophia's little cheek. "What nonsense are you talking about? Who told you that?"

"Liam said that I shouldn't kiss or touch other boys at school. That's how babies are made," Sophia said confidently.

Cassie was exasperated, pondering, 'How could Liam tell Sophia such things?'

But thinking about Liam's disappearance, Cassie became worried and sad.

"Mommy, I don't like you being with David like that," Sophia suddenly said, frowning, "I like it when you sleep with me."

"Alright, sweetie, Mommy will sleep with you," Cassie said, her brow furrowing slightly. "Sophia, David will be staying here from now on. If anything happens, remember to call me back."

"Okay," Sophia nodded as if comprehending. "Mommy, you won't kiss or hug David either, right?"

"That's something for adults to deal with. Don't worry about it," Cassie sighed. She didn't want to involve Sophia, but she would shield her for as long as possible.

Maybe it was because Cassie had just slept with Joseph, and now sleeping with David felt too open for her conservative nature.

After dressing Sophia, Cassie went to the bathroom to wash Sophia's clothes.

When she came out, Sophia was sitting on the bed with Cassie's phone, chatting with someone.

"Sophia, you didn't call 911 with my phone again, did you?" Cassie shouted nervously.

"No, Joseph just called, and I answered。" Sophia handed her the phone.

Cassie took the phone to the balcony and put it to her ear, but there was no sound.

Cassie thought Joseph had hung up. She checked the phone and saw the call was still connected. "Joseph, I heard you were injured. Since that's the case, Sophia will stay with me for now."

"Sophia can't stay with you forever," Joseph's voice was hoarse. "Did Sophia... ask about her dad?"

Cassie was taken aback, realizing Joseph meant Liam. "She asks about him every day. I told Sophia the truth that Liam is currently missing. It upset her a lot."

"How could you... be so direct with Sophia?" Joseph was a bit anxious. "You... you didn't tell Sophia that Liam went missing after I beat him up, right?"

"Are you afraid Sophia will hate you?" Cassie sneered coldly.

Joseph was silent for a moment and then said, "No matter what, I am responsible for Liam's disappearance. I will treat Sophia as my own daughter from now on. I won't marry or have children again. Sophia will be my only daughter."
