Chapter 962 Wanted to Help the Hernandez Family

The auctioneer looked embarrassed. It was the first time he had encountered such a situation.

Laura was indignant. "They are all powerful people in Madison, but they're so shameless. Damn it. If I had 6 billion dollars, I would definitely buy it."

"Many people want to buy it, but they can't do it because of the Chamberlain family," Cassie said helplessly.

At that moment, a voice came again. "Six billion and two million dollars."

Upon hearing that, Cassie's face changed.  As she was familiar with David, she could recognize his voice at once.

She didn't expect David to come, too. She asked herself inwardly, 'Does the Chamberlain family also threaten David?'

For some reason, Cassie felt a bit disappointed.

Cassie had thought David had a good virtue. Even though David hated Joseph, he wouldn't kick Joseph when he was already down.

But evidently, Cassie was wrong.

After the price reached six billion and two million dollars, no one else bid.

The auctioneer was quite frustrated. He wondered whether these rich people were here to cause trouble. "Is there anyone else? Six billion and two million once..."

"Seven billion dollars." Cassie suddenly lowered her voice, making it sound like a man's. But this low voice had already caused a stir.

Everyone looked towards Cassie's box, but the window was closed, and no one could see who it was.

Soon, there was the sound of something being smashed in one of the boxes, a clear warning.

Cassie raised an eyebrow, thinking, 'Marcus must be warning me.'

Laura widened her eyes at her and whispered, "Do you have seven billion dollars?"

"I could probably get it from my dad," Cassie said, gritting her teeth.

"Aren't you afraid of offending the Chamberlain family?" Laura winked. "You actually want to help the Hernandez family, right?"

"I want to uphold justice like you," Cassie glanced at her. "Besides, as long as I get it, I could resell it and make tens of billions."

"That's true," Laura replied.

But soon, someone outside said, "Seven billion and one hundred dollars."

It was Marcus's voice.

Laura almost spat out her drink. "Damn, Marcus is the richest man in Madison. "How does he have the nerve to add just a hundred dollars?"

Cassie curled up the corner of his mouth, feeling quite helpless. She realized that Marcus was not only shameless and despicable but also extremely... stingy.

She pondered, 'How Marcus became the richest man in Madison made no sense.'

"Seven billion and one hundred million dollars," Cassie said again.

"Seven billion and one hundred million and one hundred dollars." This time, it was David's voice.

Cassie rubbed her forehead, feeling a bit... disappointed in David.

At this moment, a man's low, cold voice suddenly came from the right direction, "Twenty billion dollars."

As soon as he said, the entire auction was into a stir.

Twenty billion, that was a very high bid.

Marcus had warned that no one could bid so high. If someone did so, he must be going against the Chamberlain family.

The auctioneer was stunned, then excitedly said, "Twenty billion dollars once, twenty billion dollars twice, twenty billion dollars... three times, done."

Laura was stunned in the box. "Who suddenly bid twenty billion dollars? Let me count. How much is that?"

"That amount of money... very few people can come up with it." Cassie was very surprised. For some reason, the mysterious man she had met outside earlier flashed through her mind.

"Isn't Marcus going to bid?" Laura sighed. "It's over just like that."

"Marcus is so stingy, there's no way he'd come up with twenty billion. You must be kidding." Cassie had just opened the door when two men blocked her way.

"So it was a woman." one of the men sneered. "Wait here. Marcus wants to see you."

"Cassie, so it was you bidding just now," Luna, who was passing by with Felix, suddenly came over to mock, "You're really bold. Even without Joseph backing you up, you should dare to go against our Chamberlain family."

"You're really overestimating yourself." Felix stared at Cassie, his lips curling deeply.

Cassie smiled. "Your Chamberlain family really surprised me, too, having the nerve to bid just a hundred dollars. I've really learned something new."

Felix's face turned sullen, and he sneered. "That cursed place, the Hernandez House, even adding a hundred is already quite generous."

"Exactly, whoever lives there is cursed. Look, now the Hernandez family is so poor they have to sell their house," Luna said.

"Alright, you guys can't afford to buy it, but you won't let others buy it either. Marcus must be causing trouble for the buyer now. Let me tell you, not everyone has twenty billion dollars to buy an estate, even the Chamberlain family," Cassie reminded leisurely.

Felix's brows furrowed deeply.

He pondered, 'Twenty billion dollars isn't much for the Chamberlain family now, but to raise that much money at once, the Chamberlain family would have to hold a meeting. The bigger the business, the more liquidity it needs.

'Other than old established wealthy families, there are very few in all of Madison who could come up with that money at once. But the problem is that voice... I have never heard it before. Could it be someone from abroad?

'But why would a wealthy person from abroad come to Whisperlyn City to buy the largest estate in Madison?'

People like Felix and Marcus, who had just tasted the benefits of being the top family, were very wary of being surpassed.

"Cassie, what are you doing here?" At this moment, David, who was passing by, saw Felix, and his expression changed subtly. He immediately walked over.

Cassie looked at David. David was accompanied by his secretary, Lola, whom Cassie had met before, so she didn't think much of it.

"Miss Brooks," Lola greeted with a smile.

Cassie nodded, but before she could speak, Laura interjected, "We were blocked by Felix. Felix wants to bully us and won't let us leave."

David immediately looked at Felix, who angrily said, "The person who bid seventy billion dollars just now was Cassie. She is still thinking about helping the Hernandez family. Be careful. She might betray you."

A shadow crossed David's face. Cassie interjected, "Don't jump to conclusions. My intention was to acquire it for resale and turn a profit of tens of millions."

"Didn't you receive the Chamberlain family's warning?" Felix said viciously.

"The Chamberlain family just wants to buy the Hernandez House but doesn't want to spend more money, so you threaten others not to buy it and not to raise the price. I know your scheme very well." Cassie sneered.

"Felix, you guys are just making money. As you're not the president of the country, you don't have that much power. Laura, don't you agree?"
