"Eat something." Violet picked up a fork. "I haven't had breakfast outside in a long time. I heard the food here is pretty good. Have you been here before?"
"No." Laura shook her head, mechanically picking up the fork to grab some food, even forgetting that she was already quite full.
After taking a bite of cake, Violet looked at her and suddenly smiled, "You're very nervous."
Laura felt awkward. Was she that obvious? She decided to cut to the chase, "Godmother, if you have something to say, just say it. I'm mentally prepared. You can scold me if you want."
"You don't look like you're mentally prepared."
Violet took a sip of hot milk calmly. "In fact, you seem very stressed. Have you suddenly realized that dating Derek isn't that easy?"
Laura lowered her shoulders and didn't answer the question. "Godmother, I'm sorry. You and Godfather have always been good to me. I shouldn't have deceived you, but I was afraid that if you found out, you would oppose us being together."
"If you were afraid of opposition, why did you still get together?" Violet asked calmly.
