Chapter 1098 Cassie Was So Cool
"I just complimented Francis on his looks. Is that such a big deal?" Cassie said, feeling a headache coming on from his words.
She thought Joseph used to be so quiet, but now he talked more and more nonsense.
"I'm upset because you've never complimented me like that," Joseph said, looking at her with a face full of grievance.
Cassie was at her wit's end.
If it weren't for the fact that Joseph still had the same face, she would have suspected he was possessed.
However, she had to admit that it was hard to resist an extremely handsome man being cutesy with her.
Especially since Joseph, despite being a man, had such big eyes and thick eyelashes.
"Joseph, do you know you're being more childish than Sophia right now?" Cassie said weakly.
Joseph immediately responded with a romantic line, "Falling in love is like a rebirth for a person. Love makes us feel like we're back in childhood. When I see you, I feel like a big boy—innocent, pure, childish, and playful."
"Alright, you don't need to say anymore, I get it," Cassie said, feeling faint.
Joseph ignored her and continued, "And stubborn..."
This time, he didn't get to finish because Cassie grabbed his collar and kissed him to shut him up.
Sure enough, Joseph went quiet the next second.
Cassie was so cool that it made his heart skip a beat.
"Baby, please stop talking," Cassie said, her charming big eyes blinking mischievously.
Even Joseph, with his thick skin, blushed.
He was thirty years old and still being called "baby" by Cassie.
He felt like he was not thirty but three years old.
"Aren't you guys cooking lobster?" Laura's voice suddenly rang out from the doorway.
Cassie, flustered, quickly pushed Joseph away as if she had been burned.
Joseph stumbled back a couple of steps and saw Cassie, her face blushed, stammering, "Didn't you see we had the pot covered?"
"I get it. As the waiting is long, you kiss in the meantime. I didn't mean to intrude; I just smelled something good and came to check. I won't disturb you," Laura said, sensibly retreating and even thoughtfully closing the door.
As she lay back on the sofa, eating fruit alone, she realized she was all by herself.
It was too tragic. As a single pregnant woman, she suddenly wanted a sweet romance, too.
She cursed in mind, 'It was all Michael's fault for getting me pregnant. Michael, you'd better not fall into my hands, or I will kick your ass!'
In the kitchen, the only sound was the boiling water in the pot.
Cassie's face was blushed, her mind blank.
"Cassie, what did you just call me?" Joseph leaned in again. "Wasn't it too childish? You can call me Joey."
"Joseph, I just wanted you to shut up, okay?" Cassie glared at him angrily.
She didn't realize that her pretty face was puffed up with anger; she looked even more radiant.
"You can make me shut up like you did just now." Joseph chuckled. "I'll give you another chance."
"Give you a..." This time, before Cassie could finish, Joseph took the initiative to kiss her.
At first, Cassie resisted, as they were in Laura's house.
Cassie thought to herself, 'What if Laura comes in again? She will laugh at me.'
However, Joseph refused to let go, and she didn't want to make too much noise, so she had to let him be.
Half an hour later, they came out of the kitchen, and Cassie's lips, though not wearing lipstick, were red and slightly swollen.
Laura was triggered.
While eating lobster, she was triggered again.
As Joseph didn't like eating lobster, he spent the whole time peeling it for Cassie.
"No need. I can do it by myself," Cassie said, noticing Laura's jealous look and trying to persuade Joseph.
Joseph shook his head. They had just kissed, and his tone was so tender. "No, it is my pleasure."
Laura shivered and made a vomiting gesture.
Cassie's face turned blushed. She glared at Joseph, signaling him to tone it down.
"What's the big deal? Ms. Miller has been in love before," Joseph said nonchalantly.
Laura was speechless.
"Alright," Cassie thought it was better to talk less.
Not long after, Cassie took the lobster from her hand. "You've had two already. You can't eat anymore; it's not good for the baby."
Laura looked at her, feeling down. "I'm already pitiful enough being alone. Can't you let me eat one more?"
"You have a baby. Babies are so cute, much more interesting than men." Cassie comforted her. "After you give birth, won't there be plenty of excellent men? You're going to be the president's daughter, with a whole bunch of men to choose from."
"You're right." Laura felt comforted.
Joseph watched them silently for a while and said, "In a few days, you won't be alone. If Michael wants to return to the Jude family, the only way is to marry you."
Cassie and Laura were both stunned.
"Don't scare me. Didn't Michael get whipped?" Laura asked.
"It was just the Jude family's way of giving him a chance to pursue you," Joseph said with a playful smile, "The Jude family is quite righteous."
"Righteous?" Laura was almost depressed to death. "They clearly want me to be with Michael. I don't want to be with him."
Joseph raised an eyebrow. "The Jude family isn't forcing you. On the contrary, they're giving you a chance to get back at Michael. Since he wronged you before, you can let him pay the price now. After you're done, kick him out."
Laura's eyes lit up. "Isn't Michael your friend? Is it appropriate for you to encourage me to get back at him?"
"Cassie is the most important person to me," Joseph said, looking affectionately at Cassie, "I have no choice, as Cassie cares so much about you."
