Chapter 1625 Moving Out (Part 1)

Five minutes later, Laura returned. Cassie and the lawyer had finished reviewing the documents. "Everything looks good, let's sign."

After Laura, Cassie, and Michael signed the papers, Michael quickly said, "Today is an important day. How about I treat everyone to a meal at a nearby restaurant to celebrate the successful acquisition of DreamDazzle Beauty Co.?"

"Why don't we have our company's Theron Caudill accompany you? Laura and I have some important matters to attend to later," Cassie politely declined before Michael could finish.

"Ms. Brooks, are you disrespecting me?" Michael's expression darkened. "You should know that many companies, both domestic and international, are interested in acquiring the Ocean Blue group, but I didn't consider them. My first choice was DreamDazzle Beauty Co., and I didn't intentionally raise the price."

Laura couldn't stand it any longer and said disdainfully, "So, to thank you, I have to have dinner with you today, and maybe even sleep with you tonight?"

There were others in the conference room, and everyone immediately looked at Michael with strange expressions.

Michael didn't expect Laura to be so bold. His handsome face turned red. "Laura, that's not what I meant, and you know it. I just wanted to—"

"You just wanted to use moral standards to coerce us, right?" Cassie coldly interrupted him.

"No, I just wanted us to have a meal together. After all, we did make a collaboration today," Michael frowned. "Can you not think so poorly of me? I really know I was wrong about the past."

"I don't consider this a collaboration," Cassie shook the document in her hand. "Julia, your company has been losing money and couldn't continue operating. We just made an acquisition. Yes, I appreciate you signing quickly, but you need to understand that with my status, no one would dare compete with me. If I maliciously lowered the price and you refused the acquisition, the Ocean Blue group would be left isolated, and you would lose even more."

Cassie's beautiful eyes held the disdain of someone in power.

Michael gradually became stunned. He looked at Cassie and realized that she was no longer the Cassie of the past. She was Isabella's daughter, protected by Declan.

These two people could shake the global stock market with a mere stomp of their feet. Who would dare oppose Cassie?

Cassie said, "You should be grateful. Laura and I have no intention of seeking revenge. Otherwise, before you signed, I could have made you suffer significant losses."

Cassie paused and then added, "Also, with our current status, you don't have the qualifications to dine with us. At the very least, it should be someone of Julia's level."

With that, she and Laura left together.

Michael watched their backs, his face darkening.

The executives behind Michael whispered, "Exactly, we were acquired. He lost completely and still doesn't understand his situation."

"Maybe he still thinks he's part of the Jude family and the boss of the Ocean Blue group. He doesn't even realize he dragged the Ocean Blue group down."

"Yeah, and he ruined the Jude family's reputation. I heard the Jude family members see him as a nuisance."

"Get out." Michael couldn't listen any longer. He grabbed a cup from the table and threw it at the two people. "Say one more word, and I'll kill you."

"Do you really think you're still the boss of the Ocean Blue group? We need to curry favor with Cassie and Laura, not you."

The two executives walked away, avoiding him.

Michael leaned stiffly against the conference table.

This was the place he had once worked hard to build, and he couldn't understand why the employees now hated him so much.

Sometimes, he felt like such a failure that he wished he were dead.

In the parking lot downstairs

Laura gave Cassie a thumbs up. "You were so impressive just now."

"I was really annoyed by Michael. He still doesn't understand his situation, acting like we owe him for acquiring the Ocean Blue group," Cassie said as she got into the car.

"Exactly." Laura snorted.

Just as she fastened her seatbelt, Elliott called her. "The moving date for the new house is set. Next Monday, the Miller family will host a dinner at the hotel for some friends and relatives from Whisperlyn City."

"So soon?" Laura was surprised.

"Didn't you say you wanted to move out quickly? I had the renovation team work overtime. The house has been ready for a while, and it's been tested for occupancy. Mom and Dad will move from Silverwood the day after tomorrow, and we'll have a family dinner in the evening."

"Okay, okay. Is there anything I can help with?" Laura suddenly realized she hadn't contributed much to the Miller family's new home; Elliott had handled everything.

"No need, I've taken care of it all. Just let Carl and Violet know and thank them for their care during this time."

"Okay." Laura nodded. Although she was comfortable living in the Presidential Palace, she thought it would be more convenient and comfortable for both her and Derek if she moved out since they were dating.

After returning to the Presidential Palace, she told Violet and her husband about the move that evening.

Violet was reluctant. "With you and Maeve gone, this big Presidential Palace will feel even emptier. Why don't you just stay here? I'm not used to it without you."

"Godmother, I don't want to leave you either, but my parents are getting older, and I want to spend more time with them. They moved from Silverwood for me," Laura said, hugging Violet's arm. "Also, the security at the Presidential Palace is too strict. If we stay here, it will be inconvenient for my relatives to visit Maeve."

"That's true." Violet suddenly smiled and looked at her teasingly. "And it would probably be inconvenient for you to date your boyfriend too, right?"

Laura was speechless and lowered her head in embarrassment. "I hadn't thought about that."

"You should think about it. If you get a boyfriend, he probably wouldn't dare to drop you off at the Presidential Palace," Violet sighed. "I don't really like living here either, but there's no choice. When are you moving? I'll have Derek come to congratulate you."

"Next Monday."

"Alright." Violet was still a bit reluctant. "From then on, it will just be the three of us for meals."

"Godmother, I'll come visit you whenever I can." Laura felt very guilty.

Back in her room, she started preparing what she needed to take with her.

When Derek came over after work, she was bent over in the study, organizing books.

"When I come home from work, I won't see you anymore. And we won't be able to have breakfast together," Derek suddenly hugged her from behind, burying his face in her neck.
