Chapter 1332 Sudden Change
Derek stepped up, ice in his voice, "You seriously want someone from the Jude family to kneel? You tryna start a mutiny or what?"
Ralph chuckled darkly, "Nah, no mutiny here. But let's be real, Carl, I could run this place better than you."
Carl's face turned stormy, "So, this party's got a hidden agenda, huh?"
He strolled around, hands behind his back, sneaking glances at the guests.
Carl's crew stood there, all tense and silent.
Ralph laughed, "C'mon, it's my birthday. Honestly, that gift you gave me sucked. How about you hand over your power instead? You've had your fun as president. Remember, without my backing, you wouldn't be where you are."
Carl stayed quiet, but Derek lost it, "You're a joke! Without my dad, you wouldn't even be in Whisperlyn City! You should be grateful; you're already the second most powerful guy here."
Ralph smacked Derek's hand away, "I'm talking to Carl. Who do you think you are? Get lost! I don't wanna be under your dad's thumb. I wanna be the top dog."
Derek was shaking with rage, "You're asking for it."
Before he could do anything, David pulled a gun on him, "Nah, you're the one asking for it."
Derek froze, not daring to move.
Carl's eyes narrowed, "Ralph, you really think you can pull this off? You think I came here unprepared? Guards!"
He shouted, but got nothing but silence.
Ralph clapped his hands, "Looks like no one's listening to you. Guards!"
Suddenly, the guards who were supposed to be loyal to the Jude family surrounded them, guns aimed at Carl's people.
A captain stepped forward, kneeling before Ralph, "Squad Nine pledges loyalty to Ralph from now on."
Carl's face was grim, "Tommy Baker, I raised you, and you betray me?" Squad Nine was his most trusted team, his personal protectors. He never saw this coming.
Tommy sneered, "I made a smart move. It's not just me. Nine squads have already pledged to Ralph. He promised us better positions and more money, so we switched sides."
Carl looked at the guests, "And you? Gonna betray me too? Don't forget, I made you who you are."
The guests were shaking. One guy in his fifties spoke up, "Ralph, Carl's been good to us." Tommy shot him dead on the spot.
The guests were terrified, shrinking back. Some even started sucking up to Ralph, "I think Ralph's got what it takes. Carl, you should step down and let Ralph run Madison. I bet Madison will thrive under his leadership."
"Mr. Dixon, you should've been president from the start. Since Carl took over, Madison's economy's been in the toilet. You're the real deal."
"Mr. Dixon, we're ready to throw fifty billion your way to back you up."
The room buzzed with flattery.
Ralph laughed, super pleased. "Alright, since y'all got such good taste, I won't let you down. Carl, hand over the presidential seal, or I'll start taking out the Jude family right here."
At his signal, the guards aimed their guns at Michael and Derek.
"You!" Carl was shaking with rage, looking around at the guests who used to be his loyal supporters, now all turning on him.
"Move it!" Ralph warned, "Or Michael's first."
With a wave, the guards grabbed Michael.
"Stop!" Carl raised his hand, glaring at Ralph. "I'm curious, where'd you get the cash to bribe these people?"
His eyes landed on David. "It was him, wasn't it?"
David smirked. "Carl, before you were president, I had dealings with the Jude family at several banquets. But y'all looked down on me 'cause I came from nothing. Mr. Dixon saw my potential, and that's why I'm here now."
"Yeah, Carl, lucky for me, you didn't see David's worth back then," Ralph said, patting David's arm proudly. "David's a rare find. You backed Joseph, but now the business world is run by the Foster family. I'm planning to marry my daughter to him. Soon, all of Madison will be under the Dixon family's control."
"I really messed up," Carl sighed, shaking his head. "So today, I lost to you and David."
"That's why you're not fit to be president and should step down." David walked up to Michael, lightly patting his face. "Michael, you used to look down on me 'cause of your status and your buddy Joseph. How should I mess with you today?"
David reached out to Tommy, who handed him a knife.
David held the knife to Michael's ear, "How about I start with this ear?"
Michael stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly snickered. "David, you really think you're the top dog in Madison? You think the Wit Group's pharma business is all over the world, and Robert's got the Hernandez Group locked down, making you the big boss?"
"What else?"
Michael's sudden calm gave David an uneasy feeling.
David told himself Michael was just bluffing, that he had everything under control.
Michael smirked. "Why don't you call the Wit Group's overseas head and see if you can still reach your trusted guys? Or try calling Lars from the Hernandez Group and see if he picks up?"
