Chapter 1396 When Will You Remarry Me?
"I was scared I'd mess it up, you know? You're not exactly Mr. Romance." Laura slipped on the watch, making her hand look all fancy.
She already had a watch, but come on, who didn't want more bling, especially surprise gifts from a guy?
"This must've cost a fortune," Laura said, a bit worried. "Last time at Silverwood, you bought me a ton of stuff too. You still got that much cash?"
"Don't sweat it, babe. I might not be rolling in it like Joseph, but I ain't broke either."
Michael hugged her and planted a kiss. "You dig it?"
"Love it." Laura nodded, then stood on her toes to kiss him back, whispering shyly, "I'll be waiting for you tonight."
Michael was stoked.
The next morning, Laura woke up to a pair of diamond earrings, super fancy and not even out in the country yet.
Day three, she got a diamond ring.
She griped about Michael blowing too much cash, but on day four, he still left a new designer handbag on her pillow.
When Cassie came to check out DreamDazzle Beauty Co., she saw Laura rocking a Patek Philippe watch, a massive diamond ring, and stunning earrings, with a luxury handbag on her desk. She couldn't help but be amazed.
"You're totally giving off rich lady vibes. I know you married Michael, who's loaded, but do you have to make everyone so jealous?"
Cassie glanced at her watch. "I saw this in a magazine. It's gorgeous. I wanted to buy it, but I haven't been abroad."
"You gotta go abroad for this?" Laura asked, surprised.
"Yeah, it's a limited edition, only thirty in the world." Cassie pointed at her bag. "That bag too, where'd you get it?"
"Michael gave it to me." Laura smiled, a bit smug. "The earrings, watch, and ring too. He's been giving me a little gift every day lately. Wonder what I'll get tomorrow."
"These are little gifts?" Cassie rolled her eyes. "Seriously, enough."
"I do think it's a bit much." Laura smirked. "I'll talk to him about it tonight."
Cassie was envious. "Okay, stop rubbing it in."
"What's there to show off to you? Joseph must be super romantic too." Laura pouted. "I used to see you guys flaunting your happiness, and I was jealous too."
Cassie felt a bit hurt. Comparison is the thief of joy. How could Joseph's little gestures compare to Michael's?
A gift every day, how romantic is that?
Joseph had never done anything like that.
"I never knew Michael was so generous and romantic." Cassie sighed.
"Of course. We weren't the ones he liked. He probably gave all his romance to Megan back then."
Laura said a bit bitterly, "Megan didn't even appreciate it. What was she thinking? Michael's pretty great, right? Born into the Jude Family, generous, and he can cook."
"Really?" Cassie teased. "You didn't say that before."
"Back then, I didn't know him well." Laura looked down, a bit awkward.
"It's not that you didn't know him well, it's that you hadn't hooked up with him yet, right?" Cassie giggled. "Honestly, things change between a guy and a girl after they sleep together."
Laura blushed, embarrassed. "He was drunk that day."
"Alright, enough about that," Cassie said seriously. "Anyway, as your friend, I'm happy to see you settled. Look forward to the future."
Laura was taken aback and nodded.
Laura had been through some dark times, especially when Nathan hurt her. She thought she'd never be happy again.
Cassie walked out of the company building.
Joseph quickly got out of the car and opened the passenger door for her.
Cassie glared at him, then opened the back door and got in, ignoring him.
The cold wind blew, and Joseph stood there awkwardly, suddenly feeling scared.
So, Joseph obediently got in the car and asked, "Cassie, what's wrong?"
Cassie looked at his handsome face without saying a word.
"Did I do something wrong?" Joseph reflected, confused. "Did I hurt you last night?"
Mentioning this made Cassie even more annoyed. "Just think before you speak, and maybe don't say anything at all."
"How can I know why you're upset if I do that?" Joseph tried to grab her hand.
But Cassie pushed him away, her eyes blazing. "I find you very unromantic."
"I'm not romantic?" Joseph was shocked. "I put you first in my heart."
Cassie pursed her lips. "We live like an old married couple, with no romance at all. Besides, we haven't even remarried. We're still just dating."
This was something that had always made Joseph uneasy. He had proposed several times, but she always refused.
Joseph was always careful, afraid that Cassie might kick him out one day if she got upset.
"Cassie, I want to be romantic too, but we have two kids. We can't just focus on our own world, and you like spending time with the kids too."
"Laura and Michael have kids too, but Michael is super romantic now. He gives Laura gifts every day, a watch today, a diamond ring tomorrow, a handbag the day after. I don't get that treatment." Cassie said resentfully. "When was the last time you gave me something?"
Joseph didn't expect Michael to be so romantic, but he got it now. Cassie was jealous. "Cassie, we just went shopping yesterday, and I bought you clothes. I even gave you my card."
"That doesn't count. I want surprises," Cassie said firmly.
"Alright," Joseph said, puzzled. Women are hard to figure out.
But as a man, he just had to meet her demands unconditionally.
"I'll think about it. I'll surprise you too."
"You can't copy Michael." Cassie added. "You're smarter than him. Think of something yourself."
Joseph was silent.
She wanted surprises but didn't want him to copy others.
Cassie's demands were high.
"Do you have a problem with that?" Cassie asked with a sly smile.
"No problem," Joseph quickly shook his head. "But Cassie, when will you remarry me? Look at Laura and Michael, they're married. I'm still single. Don't wait until Lucas gets married and I'm still not."
