Chapter 1718 It's Normal for Her to Have a Bit of a Temper
Just like Derek said, Julia is making an effort to move towards Elliott, and he should do the same.
In the past, he accused her of being selfish for her own gain. Now, she has given up her career for him. If he still doubts her feelings, then he's a real jerk.
Actually, when he thinks about it, he hasn't sacrificed anything for her. He just kept blaming her for betraying their relationship.
"Elliott."
Julia's heart suddenly raced on the other end of the phone. She really didn't understand why Elliott had changed so much all of a sudden. "I still have an hour left at work."
"Then I'll wait for you downstairs," Elliott said hurriedly.
"Okay."
When they ended the call, both were still confused.
Upstairs in the office, Julia quietly held her phone and thought for a long time. She roughly understood that Elliott might have been moved, thinking she gave up her position at the company for him, just like Derek said.
Strangely, she found it both amusing and complicated.
Just yesterday, she was still troubled about their relationship and future, even considering that they might not be suitable for each other. She didn't expect such a drastic change overnight.
She should be happy, and the hurt from that night should be forgotten. But she still felt a bit uncertain and anxious.
There was a knock on the door.
"Come in."
She returned to her seat, and Garth walked in quickly, looking serious. "Are you really resigning? Julia, I can't believe you would do this. Do you have some other plan?"
Julia looked up at him slowly. "What do you think I should be planning?"
"You're always smart, I can't figure it out," Garth said with a heavy brow. "But I believe you're not a foolish person. In the current Jude Family, your dad can't do anything to you. Why give up the great situation you've worked so hard to create? If James regains power, he will definitely support Aaron."
"Yes, no matter how hard I try, I'll always be just a daughter."
Julia smiled noncommittally. "You see, thanks to you, my parents found out about Elliott and me, and they got angry. In their minds, Elliott is interested in the Jude Family, not me. They mean that as long as I'm in the Jude Family, my marriage is not up to me. I don't believe my judgment is that bad, so I resigned voluntarily. This way, no one should stop us from being together."
Garth looked at her in shock. "Julia, you're not a foolish person. I don't believe it. Is it worth it for a man?"
"Garth, many people covet my position because they haven't had it. But I've had it, and it's just so-so. Besides, I'm still a woman. I've been lonely for a long time, and I want to find a man I love, get married, and have children. That's my current wish."
As she spoke, Julia's eyes showed a hint of tenderness.
Garth felt like he had swallowed a fly. "I advise you to calm down. Maybe your parents are right. Elliott is not a simple person."
"Thank you for your advice."
Seeing her unmoved, Garth was furious but couldn't show it. "Julia, think it through. No matter what, I'm always the one who hopes you have a good life. When you see Elliott's true colors and regret it, you can always come to me. I'll always help you."
"Okay."
Julia nodded, not asking "why," as if she didn't even have the mood to understand further.
Garth felt like his passion was doused in cold water, utterly powerless.
"I still have a lot of work to do," Julia reminded him, hinting that she was busy.
Garth turned and walked to the door, took a deep breath, and turned back. "Julia, I don't believe you can't feel my feelings for you. When you married Orval, we at the Tovar Manor couldn't help you. I wasn't qualified. All these years, I've been waiting for you."
Julia's delicate body slowly leaned back into the leather chair, her beautiful, deep eyes calm as if she hadn't just heard a confession from a man. "Garth, I understand your feelings, but I haven't given you any ambiguous signals. If I wanted something with you, I would have accepted your affection long ago. But I didn't. We're both smart people; you should understand."
"I thought you were busy with work. I'm willing to wait for you," Garth said softly. "Besides, you're focused on your career. I admit you're great at it, but in terms of relationships, you're still a novice."
"Thank you for seeing me that way."
Julia smiled faintly. "But I had a boyfriend for several years when I studied abroad, and I got married once after returning. I believe I understand my feelings well. And any smart person wouldn't date a colleague or someone in the same industry."
Garth's brow tightened, forcing a smile. "Julia, what do you mean? You don't trust me? We've known each other for so many years."
Julia raised an eyebrow. "Garth, there's no absolute trust in business. For example, if I married you, you're very capable. When I'm pregnant, I'd worry if you'd take my power when I'm weak. I'd also worry if the ambition of one side would grow if the children of two board members married. No one can fathom human ambition."
"Julia, I'm not that kind of person," Garth's face almost broke, and under her sharp gaze, cold sweat broke out on his back. "If you don't trust me, I can resign."
"Even if you resign, I won't be with you," Julia remained indifferent. "Garth, please don't disturb my work. My husband is waiting for me downstairs."
Garth couldn't stay any longer and slammed the door as he left.
Julia squinted her eyes. She hated it when people slammed the door in front of her.
Especially since this was the second time Garth had done it today.
He really didn't understand his place.
In the evening, Julia came down from the private elevator with her bag.
She immediately saw the Porsche parked nearby.
Elliott also saw her, quickly got out of the car, and opened the door. His eyes moved from her face downward.
"What are you looking at?" Julia glared at him and then got in the car, slamming the door.
Elliott touched his nose. He could understand; she had just lost her job, and her injury hadn't healed. It was normal for her to be in a bad mood.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt guilty. He quickly got into the driver's seat but didn't start the car immediately. Instead, he looked at her.
