Chapter 1790 "You're pretty arrogant in front of me, huh?"

"What's it to you?" Nina said calmly, neither admitting nor denying her relationship with Gary.

This made Gary feel a bit uneasy.

"Bernice, let's go," Gary said, gently placing his hand on Nina's shoulder.

"Looks like Mr. Ross wants me to give the Kim family a call."

Lucas took out his phone with a smile, "Just so happens, I have some connections with the head of the Kim family. But Mr. Ross, being involved with another woman behind his daughter's back, might jeopardize the marriage."

Gary's eyes flashed with anger.

But he was helpless.

If the head of the Kim family called Gary's father, Gary would definitely get a severe scolding, and the relationship between the Kim family and the Ross family might fall apart.

"Mr. Ross, you should leave first," Nina said, brushing off the hand on her shoulder. "There are so many cameras here, and Mr. Nelson just got out of prison. I believe he wouldn't dare do anything to me."

"Alright," Gary found an excuse to leave, but before he did, he gave Lucas a warning look, "Mr. Nelson, our hotel is not a place for you to act recklessly. If anything happens to Bernice here tonight, I will fully cooperate with the police investigation."

With that, he turned and left.

Lucas watched him leave with a sneer, "Bernice, this is the man you once couldn't forget? He's nothing special. I'm your enemy, yet he just left you here. His final warning was just to cooperate with the police. What a joke."

"Funny? I don't think so," Nina said calmly.

Seeing this, Lucas's smile faded, replaced by a sharp and playful look in his eyes, "What, now that you've had your revenge on me, is Gary your new target?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," Nina replied.

"Don't deny it," Lucas said, taking a step closer to her.

He suddenly noticed she had cut her hair short. He usually didn't like women with short hair, but tonight, Nina was dressed to the nines, her cold eyes tinged with a hint of allure.

His eyes flashed, and he smiled, "Look at you, all dressed up tonight. You came prepared. But I've dealt with you a few times; you're not the type to reconcile with a jerk ex. Gary played you before, and you're not one to forgive easily, let alone be his secret lover."

A thought crossed Lucas's mind.

Gary didn't deserve her at all.

Even though Lucas hated Bernice now, he had to admit he admired her.

Nina looked up and met Lucas's gaze, secretly marveling at how well he understood her, despite his despicable nature.

But some things, she couldn't admit.

"Mr. Nelson, thank you for thinking so highly of me. But I'm just a woman with emotions and desires, and there are things I can't forget."

Nina looked Lucas up and down, "Looks like three months in prison did you some good. You've gotten a lot stronger."

"Not bad. I did a lot of hard labor. I've never experienced anything like it. Thanks for giving me such a memorable experience," Lucas said. "I thought about you every day in prison. The first day I got out, I couldn't wait to find you."

"Really? Too bad I didn't miss you at all," Nina said with a calm smile. "These three months have been very fulfilling for me, thanks to your generous donation of a billion dollars. I've helped a lot of people."

"Is that so?" Lucas said with a malicious smile. "Looks like it wasn't a waste to force you to be my woman. How about this: let's sleep together for a while longer, you send me back to prison for three months, and I'll give you another billion dollars. You can help even more people. After all, you love doing good deeds so much, sacrificing your body a bit isn't too much to ask."

"Sounds tempting."

Nina didn't get angry but raised an eyebrow, "But if I want to help others, I probably don't need that measly billion dollars anymore."

"What do you mean?" Lucas was momentarily stunned, his mind racing.

"Because I probably won't be short of money in the future," Nina smiled. "I invested in a business that's quite profitable. If things go well, I could get hundreds of billions in dividends every year. To be honest, your money doesn't interest me."

"Hundreds of billions?" Lucas scrutinized her, seeing she wasn't lying, and felt a surge of curiosity. "What kind of business is that profitable? Did you invest with Cassie and Laura?"

But he was still surprised. Even if Cassie was quite capable, making that much money right after investing seemed unlikely.

After all, the Nelson Group's shareholders only got that much in dividends annually.

"No, it's not with them," Nina said with a mysterious smile. "The CEO of the company I invested in is quite capable, ruthless, and unscrupulous. With such a CEO, I'm sure I'll make a lot of money."

Lucas grew more puzzled, "Could it be Joseph started a new company, and Cassie let you invest?"

"It has nothing to do with them. It's my connections," Nina said with amusement in her eyes.

She was particularly looking forward to the moment Lucas found out the truth.

But he had just gotten out of prison today and was probably very busy. He hadn't had time to discover that ten percent of the Nelson Group's stock was now in her name.

Interesting, very interesting.

Lucas rarely frowned, feeling that Bernice's gaze was strange.

"By the way, didn't you say you're quite wealthy? How come you didn't buy anything at tonight's banquet? Do you need me to get you something?" Lucas changed the subject.

"Sorry, too many people wanted to spend money on me tonight. If you want to buy me something, get in line," Nina said, walking past him arrogantly in her high heels.

A faint fragrance lingered.

Lucas felt a stir in his heart.

He turned around, grabbed Bernice's wrist, and pulled her close. His tone was gentle, but his eyes were cold. "Bernice, you're quite arrogant in front of me. Do you think I've forgotten that you sent me to prison?"

"I haven't forgotten."

Nina looked at him indifferently, "It's only right to go to prison for doing wrong. If you're unhappy, go find a judge, the police, or the president to appeal. With your connections, someone might take your appeal, and the country might declare that forcing a woman isn't a crime."
