Chapter 1433 Do You Need Me to Get Her Some Medicine

"You might think that, but Laura doesn't. She's asking for a divorce now."

Jonah scoffed, "She's probably just trying to scare Michael. Don't take it too seriously."

Megan's face went pale, guilt written all over it. "This is all my fault. I shouldn't have come."

"Take care of him," Jonah said, then turned and left without another word.

As soon as he was gone, Megan hobbled to the bedroom with her crutch.

The nanny came in with a basin of hot water.

"Just leave it there. I'll clean him up. You should get some rest," Megan said, gently caressing Michael's handsome face, her eyes full of affection.

The nanny's eyes flickered.

She had been around long enough to suspect that Megan was Michael's mistress, especially after what happened the other day.

But she wasn't entirely sure.

Still, it wasn't unusual for wealthy businessmen to have mistresses.

After a moment's hesitation, the nanny followed Megan's instructions and left, reminding her, "Call me if you need anything."

Once the door closed, Megan looked at Michael on the bed, a triumphant smile curling her lips.

She had been wondering how to get Michael to sleep with her.

She had even thought about using hypnosis if necessary.

She didn't expect Jonah to deliver him to her.

This was a golden opportunity.

Megan had come back to the country aiming to become Michael's wife.

She slowly climbed onto the bed, unbuttoning Michael's shirt one button at a time, her voice irresistibly seductive.

Michael felt like he was dreaming, with Laura calling out to him in the dream.

His whole body tingled with excitement.

When Michael woke up again, his head was pounding.

His stomach felt queasy, and he thought he might throw up.

He hadn't drunk this much in ages.

But when he opened his eyes, he found himself in an unfamiliar bed, with a feminine scent lingering in the air.

No, it wasn't that unfamiliar.

This was Megan's bed.

And he was only wearing his pants. How did this happen?

Michael's mind was a mess. He tried to get up but fell to the floor, still heavily intoxicated.

"Michael, are you okay?" Megan's voice suddenly came from the side.

He turned around, trembling, and saw Megan with slightly messy long hair draped over her shoulders, wearing a form-fitting silk nightgown that showed off her curves.

Glancing beyond her, it seemed she had gotten off the sofa. So, they didn't sleep together?

He was relieved.

He quickly stood up, using the bed for support. Not knowing where his clothes were, he awkwardly covered himself with the sheet. "Megan, why am I here? Nothing happened between us last night, right?"

He was anxious, feeling indescribably flustered.

Megan glanced at him and smiled. "You were so drunk last night. What could have happened?"

Michael sighed in relief.

"Don't worry. I crashed on the sofa all night," Megan said, rubbing her tired eyes. "But you did throw up, so I had to clean you up. You can ask Magnus to bring you some clothes."

"Okay." Michael sighed in relief, feeling guilty seeing her so tired. "Thanks for last night. I drank too much. Jonah probably thought something was up and sent me here."

"Don't blame him. You said you didn't want to go home, and he didn't know where else to take you, so he brought you here."

Megan added with a hint of guilt, "He said you were upset about Laura wanting a divorce, so you went drinking. Michael, should I go explain to Laura?"

"Forget it. Laura would probably get so mad seeing you that she'd lash out." Michael smiled bitterly. "I just don't get why Laura hates you so much."

"Maybe it's because of what Nathan did before," Megan said regretfully. "In the end, it's my brother's fault for messing with her life. If he hadn't drugged her, she wouldn't have had a child with you. It's understandable that she hates Nathan."

Michael's face darkened slightly.

Yeah.

Why did Laura hate so much?

Did Laura never want to marry him or have his child?

Because of what Nathan did, Laura and he were stuck together.

Michael used to hate it too, but later he didn't regret it.

He even felt grateful after having Maeve.

But Laura might not feel the same. She might never have liked him.

And she never said she liked him.

"Michael, are you okay?" Megan asked, worried.

"Nothing." Michael tried to stop overthinking. "Where's my phone?"

"Here." Megan handed it to him.

He took it and called Magnus.

After breakfast, Magnus arrived with clothes. Seeing Michael and Megan having breakfast together, a deep sense of helplessness flashed in his eyes.

After leaving the apartment, Magnus couldn't help but say, "Mr. Jude, about last night with Miss Ray—do you need me to get her some medicine?"

"Medicine?" Michael was stunned for a few seconds before he realized and angrily glared at Magnus. "Do I seem like such a jerk? I was just drunk last night. Jonah brought me here. I didn't do anything."

Magnus reminded him, "Mr. Jude, you might not like this, but if you want to stay with Mrs. Jude, you should keep your distance from Miss Ray. You're married, and spending the night at another woman's place looks bad."

Michael felt irritated. "I didn't want to. I was drunk last night. Besides, I'm innocent. Laura won't believe me. She doesn't like me. She just wants a divorce."

"Mr. Jude, I think Mrs. Jude was genuinely trying to make things work with you recently," Magnus disagreed.

"That's just what you think." Michael snorted, about to say more when Eric suddenly called.

"Grandpa." He answered, and Eric's voice came through, "After you left yesterday, we talked with Laura. Find a time to divorce her."

Michael was furious. "Why? It's not your marriage, it's mine. I won't divorce her."

Michael's words made Eric's blood boil.
