Chapter 897

"There is..." nbsp;Thomas had not finished speaking.

nbsp;

Joseph sharply interjected, "Mr. Allen, you mentioned a witness who saw Megan following two men into the woods early that morning. I recall that the early morning light is not very bright, especially in the woods where the incident occurred. You claim the witness saw Megan walking behind the two men without being bound. In such dim light, it would be impossible for them to see clearly that Megan's hands were not tied."

nbsp;

Thomas was momentarily at a loss for words. "I think we should let them testify in court first."

nbsp;

Joseph pressed on aggressively, "The local farmers must be in desperate need of money. It would be easy to pay them to change their testimony."

nbsp;

"I object." nbsp;Joseph sneered, "Mr. Allen, I don't need to remind you that bribing false witnesses is illegal. In fact, their testimony that Megan was not bound is utterly ridiculous. Your honor, please look at my client's hands. The bruises from the bindings are still visible."

nbsp;

As Joseph spoke, he lifted Megan's hand. Megan bit her lip, and her eyes reddened, eliciting sympathy from the courtroom.

nbsp;

Joseph continued his stern critique, "Whether as a lawyer or as a person, one should have a bottom line. My client has suffered greatly, and now you insinuate that she is framing Spencer on purpose. This is simply too much."

nbsp;

"Indeed, it's quite shameless." nbsp;The audience began to murmur among themselves.

nbsp;

Cassie glared at Joseph, her beautiful eyes filled with disdain.

nbsp;

Laura fumed, "This Joseph is truly despicable, manipulating the judge's emotions to cast a negative light on Thomas, making it impossible for Peter's hard-found witnesses to testify."

nbsp;

"With Joseph's eloquence and presence, even if those witnesses were allowed to testify, he would likely discredit them as fabricated. Fortunately, David found us evidence; otherwise, we would surely lose this case," Cassie remarked.

nbsp;

"David is the best. Joseph is just trash," Laura cursed.

nbsp;

Cassie furrowed her brows deeply, her entire being tense with anxiety.

nbsp;

Just when everyone thought Thomas was out of options, he spoke again, "Mr. Hernandez, we have never bribed any witnesses. You may not be aware, but we have located the vehicle used in the kidnapping of Miss Ray. It is this black one, correct?"

nbsp;

Thomas produced a photograph. Joseph glanced at it and nodded.

nbsp;

Megan, however, felt a deep sense of foreboding.

nbsp;

Thomas continued, "We had the legal department conduct an analysis. Curiously, the back seat of the kidnapper's car contained a large bag identical to one seen in the dashcam footage."

nbsp;

Thomas had the court staff display the first video surveillance submitted earlier. The screen paused, showing a delivery man and another man carrying a large bag identical to the one in the car photo.

nbsp;

Joseph's handsome face changed slightly, and his long fingers involuntarily gripped the pen on the table tightly.

nbsp;

Thomas said, "Additionally, the bag contains the fingerprints of the defendant, Spencer, but the handles of the bag bear the fingerprints of two other unknown men. In other words, you claim that Spencer kidnapped Miss Ray, but when Megan was taken, Spencer was actually stuffed inside the bag. There are no kidnappers like this, Mr. Hernandez. Or do you want to argue that my client orchestrated this entire scenario to confuse everyone?"
