Chapter 1412 Her Bottom Line is Megan
Laura paused with the spoon in her hand and looked up. "You're not joining in?"
Michael shrugged. "I don't care how the photos are taken, as long as you like them."
"How about we go to the Maldives for our wedding photos?" Laura raised an eyebrow.
Michael was taken aback. "The Maldives? That'd take about a week. Maeve's too young right now."
"We could take a private jet and bring a couple of nannies."
"My work's pretty busy," Michael mumbled. "I can't leave everything to Aaron. We can take photos at a nearby beach, and later, I'll take you to the Maldives whenever you want."
Plus, he really couldn't leave Madison for the next month. If something happened to Megan while he was away, it would be a mess.
"Alright." Laura looked at him quietly for a moment, then smiled bitterly.
After breakfast, she went upstairs to change, grabbed her bag, and came back down.
"Wait, I'll drive you," Michael said, still in his pajamas.
"No need, it's easier if I drive myself."
Laura smiled faintly, took the car keys, and quickly left.
Michael stood there for a moment, then turned around and called Magnus. "How's Megan? Is she feeling better?"
"She still has a bit of a fever. I called the doctor to give her an IV," Magnus mumbled.
"Why didn't you tell me last night?" Michael was a bit angry.
Laura didn't go to the office. On the way, she called Cassie. "Let's go for a drive. I'm in a bad mood. Don't tell me you need to be with Joseph, or we can't be friends anymore."
"You hurt my feelings saying that. Of course, friends are more important."
Cassie said this while Joseph was right next to her.
Joseph's eyes widened in disbelief. "Cassie, that's harsh."
"I really think you've been home long enough. You should go to work; you look the best when you're working," Cassie said, holding his handsome face and giving him a kiss before leaving the house.
Joseph stood at the door, watching her car drive away heartlessly.
Joseph deeply felt Cassie's ruthlessness.
Last night in bed, Cassie didn't say that. She kept saying how handsome he was.
When Cassie arrived at the riverside, Laura had already been sitting there for a while.
It was cold, and hardly anyone would come to the riverside early in the morning. Laura's face was pale from the wind.
"You sure picked a great spot for a drive," Cassie instinctively wrapped her coat tighter. "It's freezing here."
"I suspect Michael is hiding Megan," Laura suddenly said, looking at the lake.
Cassie froze, her pretty face complicated. "Do you have any evidence?"
"No," Laura shook her head. "But Michael didn't come home the whole night before last. He told me he had a work event with Cassius, but I found out Cassius had already left Madison and wasn't in Whisperlyn City. He lied so smoothly. And when he said he was on a business trip to Emerald Lakeside, that was a lie too."
Cassie was silent.
Cassie looked at Laura's pale face and suddenly regretted convincing her to give Michael a chance.
But even Cassie didn't expect Michael to act like this.
How long has it been, and Michael's already lying to Laura?
Laura continued, "I've thought about it. Given Michael's character, it's unlikely he has another woman on the side. Except for Megan. You mentioned Megan recently came back and has been missing. Megan hurt him before, but you also said she once played Michael, Lucas, and Joseph. Michael is so stupid; he might be fooled by her again. It's not impossible."
"Don't be so sure," Cassie said, sitting next to her and pulling something small from her pocket.
"What is it?" Laura took it and found it was tiny, like an ant.
"A tracker."
Laura was silent.
Cassie coughed awkwardly. "I originally intended to use it on Joseph, but it seems you need it more than I do."
"Just say it. I'm not stupid," Laura said coolly.
"Alright," Cassie sighed. "Actually, when you first told me Michael's attitude towards Megan was a bit strange, and then he lied to you about going to Emerald Lakeside, I had someone make this tracker."
"So, you suspected him all along?" Laura stared at her.
Cassie was embarrassed. "You suspected him first. Actually, I've always had a question I couldn't figure out. Why did Megan come back? She escaped abroad, changed her identity, and we might never have found her. But she still took the risk to come back."
"Changing her identity means starting over. Life wouldn't be as comfortable as before," Laura muttered.
"Exactly. She came back, but why did she think she wouldn't get caught?" Cassie said. "David refused to implicate Megan even after being caught. He knew we hated Megan, and David hated us too. Do you think he deliberately left Megan out there? Maybe they had a plan we don't know about. Was David protecting Megan because he thought she could still fight us?"
"Who knows," Laura said, feeling hopeless.
"Test Michael," Cassie suggested. "You see him every day. When he takes a shower, slip this into his phone. Then you'll know where he goes every day. If he's hiding Megan, we'll find out soon."
Laura stared at the tiny device in her hand, feeling its weight. "If he's really hiding Megan, I'll never forgive him. I'll divorce him."
Cassie patted her shoulder comfortingly.
Laura felt miserable. "I can't believe I might lose to Megan again. What's so great about Megan? What do I lack compared to her? If I get divorced, I'll never marry again. I'll never trust men again."
"Don't think so absolutely. Maybe Michael has other reasons," Cassie tried to comfort her. "If he's hiding Megan, not only will I support your divorce, but I also won't let Joseph associate with him."
"Right. Let him spend his life with that bitch Megan. No, we won't let Megan live. We still need to avenge Nina and Esmeralda."
In the past, no matter how much Laura fought with Michael, she could forgive him because he hadn't crossed her bottom line.
Laura's bottom line was Megan.
No one could cross it.
Laura involuntarily tightened her grip on the tracker.
