Chapter 1222 Joseph Was a Wolf
Dale smirked. "Yo, haven't you checked out the latest buzz online? Everyone in Madison's backing the Hernandez Group now. Folks are saying the Morris family is gunning for them and messing with Madison's high-tech scene. If this keeps up, my grandpa's rep is gonna be toast."
"Alright, I hear ya. You can bounce now. This ain't on Stanley; we just underestimated Joseph and Cassie." Declan waved him off lazily.
"Declan," Olivia said, sounding kinda worried.
"What's up, babe?" Isabella's pretty face looked troubled. She thought taking down Joseph would be a piece of cake.
Declan waited till Dale left. Then he grabbed Isabella's hand and said, "I just found out. You all underestimated Joseph, or more like, underestimated Cassie."
Everett had already skimmed through the Madison news and got the gist.
"Mom, Dad's right. If this keeps up, Madison's in for a big shake-up," Everett said. "Check out this video, and you'll see."
Isabella opened the video and saw a drop-dead gorgeous young woman.
She was floored, staring at that face.
She thought, 'Is this Cassie? She looks just like me. How's that possible?'
"Mom, she's so sneaky." Olivia's angry voice snapped her back. "Cassie's always playing the media. Laura's her buddy; they must be in cahoots. Laura's the shareholder, but Cassie's pulling the strings. She knows we wouldn't mess with the Jude family."
Isabella snapped out of it, remembering what Cassie said in the interview.
"Mom, we can ditch the Peace Group. I've been pushed around by her for years and can let that slide, but I can't let go of Grandma's revenge," Olivia said, suddenly filled with rage.
A cold glint flashed in Isabella's eyes. "Don't worry. She won't get away with this."
Olivia felt a bit better hearing that.
Thinking about how Cassie and Joseph were still fighting back, she wanted to smash everything. But in front of the Wittelsbaches, she had to keep her cool, or it would all be for nothing.
"The Morris family said they want to back off for now," Olivia said, feeling frustrated. "Do we really have no way out?"
Isabella felt a bit humiliated. Internationally, she was a force to be reckoned with, but in Madison, she couldn't even handle Joseph. It was a hit to her pride.
"Of course, there's a way. I'll call Simone Serra."
"Isabella," Declan suddenly cut in, his tone a bit harsh, "You can't. Cutting off the oil supply to Madison would cause global chaos."
Isabella felt awkward, not expecting Declan to catch on to her plan.
Seeing Declan's displeased look, Olivia quickly said, "Mom, Declan's right. It's not worth it for my personal grudge. I'll find another way."
Isabella felt more and more useless as a mom. She turned to Declan. "Since you're against my plan, let's go with yours. No matter what, I want to avenge the Brooks family, and I don't want to drag this out. The longer we wait, the stronger Joseph gets."
With that, Isabella took Olivia upstairs, totally losing her appetite.
Downstairs, Declan stared at the food, feeling kinda torn.
"Dad, I think Cassie handing the company to Laura means she's planning to bail from Madison," Everett whispered to Declan. "She probably knows that after the Hernandez Group goes down, we'll target the Peace Group. So she gave the company to Laura. If we go after the Peace Group now, we'll be up against Carl."
"You're right," Declan said, not angry but more like impressed and a bit regretful.
He thought Cassie would cling to her spot, but she gave it up and even transferred the Peace Group.
She was definitely bold.
Plus, she used the sale of the Peace Group to boost the Hernandez Group's image.
And Joseph jumped on this chance, using his connections to strike back.
So, the Morris family got spooked.
He got why Everett chose to help Cassie.
Smart guys often dig smart and beautiful women, and Cassie was one of them.
Even he felt a bit hesitant to keep going with his plan.
"Dad, do we really have to go after Cassie and Joseph?" Everett felt more and more reluctant, especially after seeing Cassie's smarts, which made him admire her even more.
"Didn't you hear what your mom said?" Declan gave him a faint look. "But I'm worried that even if the Morris family backs off from the Hernandez Group for now, Joseph won't let the Morris family off the hook."
Everett was shocked and gasped. "No way."
"You'll see tomorrow." Declan looked out the window.
Everett felt kinda lost.
The next day, the news wasn't about the Hernandez Group anymore but about a bunch of scandals involving the Morris family, like tax evasion and corruption.
All of Madison was in an uproar, with some folks even calling for an investigation into Stanley.
Carl quickly put together a team to investigate Stanley and then moved into the presidential office ahead of schedule.
Everything happened so fast it caught everyone off guard.
By the time they realized it, Carl was already the president.
Everett was completely stunned until Dale came to him for help.
"Declan, you gotta save my grandpa and the Morris family." Dale was freaking out. He thought the Wittelsbach family's involvement would change his fate, but it had thrown the Morris family into chaos. He remembered fighting with Michael a few days ago and now had to be super cautious even when going out.
"I will," Declan said, sitting coolly in his chair, "But you're too useless. Joseph was already pushed to the edge, yet you still let him and the Jude family win."
Dale's face turned red. "We really didn't expect Joseph to have the guts, nor do we know how he convinced the Jude family."
"Tomorrow, I'll send someone to negotiate with the Jude family. You can leave now. At most, I'll save the Morrises, but as for the Morris family's power, I won't help you get it back," Declan said coldly, basically telling him to get lost.
