Chapter 515

Joseph's hand, which was clutching a wine glass, began to tremble violently. His gaze was locked onto Megan, his expression one of profound shock.

Megan, her voice laced with pain, took a sip of her wine. "The agony was unbearable," she began, recounting a harrowing tale of torture and escape. "I was tormented repeatedly, and escape seemed impossible. When I finally managed to flee, I discovered that I was essentially a dead woman walking. My visa had been revoked, and I was barred from returning. I reached out to the Zenith family for help, but they turned their backs on me. They even suggested that I should have died there."

Michael was incensed. "This is an outrage!" he bellowed, slamming his glass onto the table and rising to his feet in anger.

Megan, her eyes brimming with tears, continued, "I thought about reaching out to Joseph, but I felt... I felt I was no longer worthy of him." Her voice broke as she confessed, "I still love him. But I hope... I hope he finds someone better than me."

Joseph shut his eyes, a searing pain piercing his heart. He couldn't fathom the horrors Megan had endured, especially since he had believed her to be dead. Six months ago, he wouldn't have hesitated to marry her. But now, his priorities had shifted to Cassie and their children.

"Enough," Lucas interjected, offering Megan a tissue.

Michael, his heart heavy with sympathy, tried to console her. "Megan, I swear we won't think any less of you because of what you've been through. You'll always be the purest, kindest girl in our hearts."

"Thank you," Megan responded, her smile shining through her tears. "But there's another reason I've returned." She then distributed three business cards.

Joseph was taken aback as he accepted the card. "You're Nyasia, the globally acclaimed psychiatrist."

Megan laughed, brushing off the compliment. "Calling me world-renowned might be a stretch, but I'm quite proficient in my field." She extended her hand towards Joseph. "I look forward to collaborating with you, Joseph."

Joseph shook Megan's hand, his emotions a whirlwind.

Michael couldn't contain his excitement. "Megan, you're incredible. I remember you studying psychology for Joseph back in the day. Congratulations on your success."

Megan's smile faded into a grimace. "I didn't anticipate Joseph's condition deteriorating again."

Before Michael could respond, Joseph cut him off. "Drink your wine."

Megan chuckled at the exchange. "Speaking of which, I'd like to see Nina..."

Lucas furrowed his brow in confusion. "Why would you want to see Nina? She was so cruel to you."

Megan sighed heavily. "She's still my half-sister. And given her uncertain sentence, we may not see each other again. I hope she learns from her mistakes this time."

The next day, at the police station.

Nina huddled in a corner, her body and face marred with bruises.

A group of menacing inmates glared at her. Her martial arts skills were the only thing keeping her alive.

"Nina, you have a visitor," a voice announced from outside the door.

Nina struggled to her feet. No one, not even her parents, had visited her during this time. Who could possibly want to see her now?

Upon recognizing the visitor, Nina gasped in disbelief. "Megan, you're alive?"
