Chapter 1520 You're Annoying

Derek walked in and saw Laura with wet hair, wearing just white pajamas that barely reached her waist, and a pair of light yellow panties underneath.

A few buttons on her pajamas were undone, showing off half of her chest.

He almost dropped the porridge he was holding, his breath quickening.

Their eyes met, and Laura, realizing what was happening, screamed and dove under the covers, her face turning bright red. She was flustered, "Derek, why are you still here?"

"Where else would I be? I've been downstairs the whole time," Derek replied.

Derek took a deep breath to calm himself, set the bowl on the bedside table, and glanced at Laura hiding under the covers.

He closed his eyes for a moment, and when he opened them again, they were clear, "I made you some porridge."

"Thank you," Laura said.

Laura's face was flushed, and her wet hair clung to her cheeks, making her look even more irresistible.

Derek guessed she had no idea how seductive she looked, "I'll step out. Put on your pants."

He stood up straight, turned around, and closed the door behind him as he left.

Laura awkwardly emerged from the covers, looked at her sexy appearance, and felt extremely embarrassed.

She closed her eyes and told herself, 'Derek likes men.'

Maybe he even found her body disgusting. But would Derek really be disgusted?

She suddenly felt a bit uncomfortable.

She glanced at the steaming porridge, took a spoonful, blew on it to cool it down, and tasted it. Even though she had no appetite, she could tell the porridge was rich and flavorful.

Five minutes later, Derek knocked on the door again, "Are you done?"

"Yes," Laura replied.

Laura took a deep breath.

Derek opened the door and came in. She was now wearing thick winter pajamas, holding a bowl of porridge, and sitting on the sofa sipping it.

They made eye contact, and Laura felt a bit awkward. Her face was red, either from the bath or embarrassment, glowing enticingly under the light.

"I thought you had gone back." She lowered her head, drinking the porridge, almost burying her face in the bowl.

"You have a fever. How could I leave? The doctor said it might come back," Derek said, touching her forehead again.

She shivered, not sure if it was an illusion, feeling his hand very hot, "I should be better now. I sweated a lot earlier."

"You seem better, but you just took a bath, so your temperature isn't accurate," Derek asked, "Where's your hairdryer?"

"In the bathroom. I'll dry my hair after I finish eating."

After she spoke, he went to the bathroom, got the hairdryer, plugged it in, and stood behind her to dry her hair.

Laura was stunned. The situation between them felt strange.

"I'll dry my hair myself later. It's long, and it takes a while." She turned her head to say.

"Turn around and drink your porridge. Don't move."

Derek turned her back around, "Do you know that if you don't dry your hair promptly after washing it, you'll get headaches?"

Laura, who was already sick, was blamed and looked unhappy, "It's none of your business."

"If I don't take care of you, who will?" Derek said, blowing the hairdryer in her face.

"Derek, you're so annoying." She reached out to hit his arm but didn't use any force.

Derek felt his whole body tense up at her playful tone.

He thought, 'She's going to be the death of me one day.'

Her long hair was indeed hard to dry, taking nearly ten minutes to get it completely dry.

Laura had only finished half a bowl of porridge and didn't want any more.

"Is that all you're going to eat?" Derek frowned, "Have some more."

"I don't want any more, I have no appetite." Laura turned her face away, curling up on the sofa like a child.

"I made this porridge myself. Have some more." Derek sat beside her, coaxing.

Laura was stunned, "You made the porridge?"

"Of course," Derek raised an eyebrow, "Food from outside isn't sanitary."

Laura opened her mouth, her throat feeling blocked, "I thought we were out of ingredients."

"I had the nearby supermarket deliver them. You had a fever, so I didn't dare go out," Derek sighed, "I also bought breakfast for tomorrow, so we don't have to go out."

"Are you planning to stay here tonight?" Laura stammered.

"Of course," Derek smiled, "I'll stay by your side. If anything happens, I can take you to the hospital right away."

"That's not necessary," Laura said softly, "It's not my first time having a fever. I usually get through it alone."

"That was before you met me. If you had met me earlier, you wouldn't have been alone," Derek said.

Derek scooped a spoonful of porridge, "Open your mouth."

She looked at his gentle expression and obediently took a couple more bites.

"Rest for a while. I'll go downstairs and take a shower." Derek stood up.

"Do you need a change of clothes?" Laura asked impulsively, looking at his back.

Derek turned around.

Laura turned her face away, "When I was pregnant, Michael stayed here with me for a while. After we divorced, he never came back, but he left some clothes here."

Derek was taken aback, feeling uncomfortable, but quickly let it go. Michael had been part of her past, so did this house, but Derek could slowly replace them.

"Sure, where are they? I'm about the same size as Michael, so his size should fit me."

"In the closet of the guest room. You can sleep there tonight," Laura said.

Derek went over, opened the closet, and was a bit troubled. The clothes were all very colorful. After his shower, he put on a set of green pajamas.

Laura played on her phone for a while in the bedroom before crawling back into bed to sleep.

She was half-asleep and a bit dizzy when she felt something cool on her forehead.

She opened her eyes and saw Derek sitting beside her in the dim light, gently touching her head, "You're running a fever again. I put a cooling patch on you."

"I feel stuffy in my chest and want to throw up," Laura said.

"Go ahead, you'll feel better after." Derek brought over a trash can.

Laura leaned over the bed, took a while to gather herself, and then threw up.

As she vomited painfully, she felt a hand gently patting her back.
