Chapter 929 He Loves Her
Sophia couldn't hold back her tears and started crying.
Oliver glanced at Sophia, his usually stern face showing a rare softness. "What's wrong? Missing Mommy? Don't worry, Mommy will still love us just like before."
"Don't lie to me. Mommy and Uncle Foster will definitely have more kids in the future, and then she won't love us as much," Sophia mumbled softly, feeling very upset.
Although Uncle Foster was very kind to her, he wasn't her real dad. It was all Joseph's fault. How could he be so clueless? She had already hinted at him, but he still had yet to come. Well, it was too late now; they were already married. She had to accept reality.
"It won't happen," Oliver said, pressing his thin lips together and grabbing her small hand. "Mommy isn't like that, and you'll always be my sister. I'll take care of you."
"Oliver," Sophia cried again. In her three years of life, it was the first time she had heard such tender words from Oliver.
After the ceremony, reporters uploaded the beautiful photos online.
David also posted a photo on WhatsApp of him and Cassie wearing their wedding rings.
#From the day I met you, I've been waiting, 1257 days in total. I'm glad I didn't give up.#
As the president of the Wit Group, he rarely posted on WhatsApp. To the public, he had always been a low-key person, and this post caused quite a stir.
One user commented: [Oh my God, Mr. Foster, you either don't post on WhatsApp or post something shocking.]
A second user chimed in: [Mr. Foster's wife must have saved the world in her past life. She's so lucky. Mr. Foster is a handsome, wealthy, and low-key business tycoon in Madison. Men like him are hard to find.]
A third user added: [Don't you know? The media just released photos of the bride. David's bride is Cassie.]
Someone else asked: [Which Cassie? It can't be the one I'm thinking of, right? That's impossible.]
That user replied: [Yes, it's her, Joseph's ex-wife and ex-girlfriend.]
A fifth user remarked: [I'm... I'm shocked. How did David and Cassie end up together and get married so quickly?]
A sixth user said: [It must be true. Many reporters have already taken photos at the wedding. Cassie is really a winner in life. Mr. Hernandez is still waiting for her, and she turns around and marries another big shot in the pharmaceutical industry. Amazing.]
A seventh user commented: [That's nothing. Cassie is beautiful and talented. Many people want to marry her. She deserves to be loved.]
One user said: [No wonder David never had any scandals with other women and never heard of him having a girlfriend. Turns out he always has Cassie in his heart, waiting silently for so long. Such a good man is rare.]
Another user guessed: [Cassie was probably deeply hurt by Joseph. When she turned around, she found David had always been waiting for her and was moved in the end.]
A user continued: [I'm curious if Mr. Hernandez knows about this. He posted on Facebook a while ago, implying he would wait for Cassie forever.]
Another user stated: [Mr. Hernandez is probably crying in a corner. He didn't cherish her. It serves him right.]
The heated discussion among netizens quickly pushed the wedding to the top of the trending list.
On the private jet, Joseph kept looking at his phone. It was already 11:50.
His heart felt like it was being tightly squeezed, and he had to take deep breaths to get enough air. He kept reassuring himself that this might be his wild guess. Cassie couldn't possibly have married David. They hadn't had any contact for three years. Since Cassie returned, there had been no sign of them communicating.
A sudden marriage was simply impossible.
He took a large sip from his water cup, only to find his hand trembling violently.
Lucas suddenly called, and he answered irritably, "What is it? Make it quick."
"Where are you now?" Lucas asked after a moment of silence.
"On the flight to Madison."
Lucas sighed. "You don't know yet?"
"Know what?" Joseph's heart skipped a beat, and fear crept in from Lucas's tone.
It was fear. Joseph was actually feeling fear again, a sensation he hadn't experienced since the last time he had pushed the pregnant Cassie and rushed her to the hospital.
It felt as if the most important thing was slowly slipping away.
"Today, Cassie and David got married in Madison," Lucas said helplessly. "The wedding is already over. David has publicly acknowledged it, and reporters have taken photos at the scene. If you don't believe me, check your phone. It's the trending topic; everyone knows."
Joseph rubbed his temples and laughed hoarsely. "You're lying. Today is April Fool's Day, right?"
"No, Joseph, Cassie really got married. It would help if you accepted it. Come back, and Michael and I will drink with you," Lucas said.
"Shut up! She can't be married. It's not even noon yet," he shouted, refusing to believe the truth.
"Thers is no rule that weddings must be held at noon." Lucas tried to reason. "Calm down. You could divorce and break up with Cassie before because your feelings for her weren't that deep. Maybe you just wanted what you couldn't have..."
Joseph hung up the phone abruptly.
Were his feelings for Cassie just because he couldn't have her?
Joseph loved her.
Even though this love came too late and too suddenly, Joseph had fallen for her.
He wanted to have children with Cassie and spend his life with her.
It was true that he had hurt her before, but he regretted it. These days, he had been filled with regret, so much so that he couldn't sleep at night.
His mind went blank for a long time until he finally mustered the courage to tap on his phone and check the news. There was no need to search; the news about Cassie and David was being discussed by everyone nationwide.
The internet was flooded with wedding photos. She looked stunning in her white wedding dress, her smile radiant. He had always known she was beautiful, but he hadn't realized how much more attractive she looked in a wedding dress.
As he scrolled down, he saw photos of her exchanging rings with David and of David kissing her.
Each photo felt like a knife cutting into his eyes.
The pain was suffocating.
He stood frozen, tears welling up in his eyes, unable to control them. She couldn't do this. They had only been apart for a few days, and in the blink of an eye, she had married David.
He knew he was wrong, but why wouldn't she give him even the slightest chance?
His eyes suddenly turned red, like a beast on the verge of losing control.
He disagreed. She was his woman. He would never let her belong to anyone else. Marriage meant nothing; she could only be his. Anyone who tried to take her away would suffer.
He looked up sharply and shouted at the pilot, "How much longer until we reach Madison?"
He couldn't wait another moment.
"Ten... ten more minutes," the pilot stammered, frightened by his expression.
"Get me to the hotel as fast as possible," he ordered.
After giving the order, Joseph dialed Wyatt's number. "Gather all nearby personnel and get to Madison as soon as possible."
Even if Cassie was married, it didn't matter. He would take her away no matter what.
