Chapter 654
Lucas was taken aback by Joseph's words, "Impossible, I love Megan."
"You love Megan, but you don't touch her," Lucas raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Joseph, don't you find yourself strange? And about that car accident, you felt jealous when you saw Sie and Billy together."
"Jealous?" Joseph reacted as if someone had stepped on his tail, "No, I just didn't want to be cheated on."
"Are you really sure you have no feelings for Sie at all? Then who were you thinking of last night when you were with her?" Lucas asked sharply.
Joseph's thin lips twitched slightly. To his surprise, after recalling last night, he felt a hint of satisfaction, a feeling he didn't have with Megan. Even when they were just eating pasta, he found himself wanting to kiss Sie.
"Lucas, I really don't know what's wrong with me," Joseph was conflicted and troubled.
In matters of his feelings, Joseph always thought he was clear - he loved Megan and despised Sie.
But now, he was getting confused.
Seeing him like this, Lucas furrowed his brow in concern. "Think carefully, even though I don't like Sie. You shouldn't hurt both women."
Before he could finish, Michael called, "Lucas, have you found Joseph? I've just landed in Madison."
Checking the time, it was only 8:30a.m. Lucas replied, "Michael, it takes 7-8hours to fly back from Country Y. Did you rush back here overnight after my unanswered calls last night?"
"Of course, you didn't answer my calls all night. If I hadn't rushed back, what would have happened to Megan if Joseph had been with another woman?"
"I was performing an important surgery overnight," Lucas explained and coughed lightly, "He's impotent, you know; there's nothing to worry about. And he's already had the necessary treatment."
Joseph glared at him, and Lucas winked at him.
After the call, Lucas sighed helplessly, "You should be grateful. If it weren’t Michael who came to find you, your trouble is not going to end today."
They exchanged a glance, knowing Michael's feelings for Megan well.
"What about Megan..." Lucas asked.
"Let's keep it from her." Joseph replied.
Lucas opened the car door, and Joseph got in.
As they drove out of the neighborhood, Joseph's phone rang. Megan was calling.
"Joseph, where are you? I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that last night," Megan's crying voice came through, "Where did you go afterward? I was worried and searching for you all night."
"I was... getting an IV at the hospital," Joseph heard her crying and felt overwhelming guilt.
"Really?" Megan murmured, "I was so worried you went to see Sie. Joseph, I'm afraid of losing you. I love you."
"I know, Megan. Go back and rest first. I have some work at the office. I'll be home early this afternoon." Joseph informed.
Little did he know, as he comforted her, Megan had just emerged from behind the security guard's office in the neighborhood, watching his car drive away. Her face contorted with emotion.
After ending the call, Megan screamed and smashed her phone.
She was furious. Her carefully planned scheme to put the philter Joseph's milk backfired, benefiting that wretched Sie instead.
What was even more unbearable was that Joseph had lied to her again.
Why did she feel like things were slipping out of her control?
