Chapter 770
A surge of icy blood rushed through his body as Joseph couldn't shake the thought of Megan waiting for him at home every day after work.
Megan was so kind, and innocent on the surface.
But the police had just told him that Megan had spent six or seven hours with another man in the apartment several times a week and each time she came out, her clothes were different.
Megan claimed Rex was her tenant, but the tenant didn't need to stay that long.
Why did Megan lie to Joseph? Why deceive him?
The answer was actually quite simple.
Joseph really didn't want to believe it, he realized he didn't truly understand Megan.
Thinking of how firmly Joseph had said he believed in Megan, he suddenly felt ridiculous. The mere idea of Megan being involved with such a disreputable man filled Joseph with gratitude that he had never been romantically involved with her.
Not only Joseph but Michael and Lucas were also stunned.
Michael was especially angry. “This doesn't make sense; Megan is not capable of such actions," Gilbert remarked. "Our investigations are based on concrete evidence. The narcotics team is currently tracking the drug trafficking network. Furthermore, Rex was fatally shot less than a week ago. Our law enforcement believes that Miss Ray is engaged to be married. To avoid the exposure of her inappropriate relationship with Rex, it is suspected that someone was hired to silence him.”
Michael shook, shouting, "How could Megan possibly kill someone? She wouldn't even harm a fish normally."
“This is merely a suspicion at this point and is currently under investigation. If Megan is found not to be involved in the murder, we will release her once the narcotics team's evidence is revealed," Gilbert stated.
"Okay."
Joseph didn't know how he walked out of the police station.
Megan told him that the man was just a tenant.
What a joke! A tenant?
"Joseph, you have to believe in Megan," Michael grabbed Joseph's shoulder, excitedly saying, "I don't think Megan is that type of person.”
“Michael, perhaps we have all overlooked the fact that Megan is just a regular woman," Lucas remarked with a frown as he lit a cigarette. "Megan also has ordinary needs, needs that Joseph has never met.
Joseph was taken aback.
Was it true?
Joseph made it clear to Megan that if she couldn't accept him as he was, he was willing to let her go.
It was Megan who said it was okay, that she didn't mind those things.
Which of Megan's words were true, and which were false? Joseph suddenly realized he might have never truly understood Megan.
"That’s bullshit!" Michael glared at Lucas and cursed.
