Chapter 1048 Joseph Was Heartbroken
"Dad, actually, I married David not because I loved him. His dedication moved me more. I just wanted to give him happiness. I thought he was someone I could rely on," Cassie lowered her head bitterly and said, "But recently, I realized that I might not know him very well. Being with him often makes me feel tired and stressed. Of course, I also should be blamed."
Aiden sighed deeply. He had also married a woman he didn't love, so he understood her feelings.
"Alright, whatever you decide to do, I will unconditionally support you. Even if you stay at home for the rest of your life and never marry, I won't mind. Besides, a man who hits a woman is not good." Aiden was very protective of Cassie. He used to like David a lot, but after David dared to hit Cassie, he no longer liked him.
He didn't care if Cassie was at fault or not; Cassie deserved to be cherished, and no one could bully her.
"Dad, thank you." Cassie sincerely thanked him. "But I hope you don't get involved in this matter. I will handle it with David slowly."
"Okay, I promise you," Aiden replied.
Oliver and Sophia, who were hiding at the door, heard footsteps and quickly sneaked back into the playroom.
Oliver's eyes were filled with endless anger and disbelief. "I can't believe it was David who hit Mom."
Sophia was extremely angry. "He hit Mommy. I will never like him again. I hate him."
"So do I." Oliver clenched his small fists. Although he used to respect David, no one could bully Cassie. For the first time, he deeply hated his weakness and inability to protect Cassie.
As he thought about how he had once brought Cassie and David together, Oliver was filled with regret.
He thought to himself, 'David is not worthy of Cassie. Neither is Joseph.'
He could only rely on himself to grow up quickly to protect Cassie.
"We need to avenge Mommy," Sophia said angrily, "I'm going to tell Joseph about this."
She quickly called Joseph.
Oliver didn't stop her.
Sophia quickly got through to Joseph.
"Sophia, do you miss me?" Joseph's voice came through, and Sophia immediately choked up with sadness.
"Why are you crying? Who bullied you?" Joseph immediately became nervous.
"It wasn't me who was bullied; it was Mommy," Sophia sobbed, "Mommy's face is so swollen from being hit by David."
"David dared to hit your mom." Joseph suddenly remembered seeing Cassie wearing a mask in the afternoon, probably to cover her injury.
His heart ached fiercely, and his hatred for David reached its peak.
"Mom is very sad. She even said she wants to divorce David," Sophia added.
"Sophia, that's enough." Oliver quickly ended her call.
Sophia glared at him. "What are you doing?"
"Don't tell him everything Mom said, or he'll think he has a chance. Mom is still married, and it's not good for her to be in contact with him," Oliver said seriously, "Besides, I don't want Mom to leave David only to go back to Joseph."
"You're right." Sophia nodded.
As soon as Sophia finished speaking, Joseph called back urgently. "Sophia, is it true that Cassie wants to divorce David?"
"Joseph, don't ask anymore. I need to be with Mom. Her face must hurt a lot." As Sophia said, Oliver hung up the phone again
Joseph stood beside the window, feeling enraged.
He cursed inwardly, 'David dared to hit Cassie. Damn it! David, I must teach you a lesson.'
Right now, he was more worried about Cassie.
He immediately got the best medicine from Lucas and headed to the Chapman Mansion.
When he reached the door, he called Cassie. "Come out. I bought some medicine for you. Lucas said it's very effective. Apply it for a day or two, and you'll be fine."
Cassie quickly understood that Sophia must have secretly reported to him. She said wearily, "Joseph, I already have medicine. You don't need to worry about it."
"Yours isn't as good as mine," Joseph said firmly.
Cassie was speechless. "How do you know mine isn't as good as yours? Is Lucas's medicine the best in the world? Joseph, please keep your distance from me. Every time I see you, something bad happens."
"Did David hit you because he found out about us in the restroom of the Dixon Mansion?" Joseph asked through gritted teeth.
Cassie was stunned. She didn't expect him to know that David had hit her.
She asked inwardly, 'Did he guess, or did Sophia overhear it earlier?'
"Don't make wild guesses. It has nothing to do with you," Cassie said.
"Stop lying to me. I went to the Peace Group to find you yesterday afternoon, but Coco said you didn't go. Did he hit you the night before, so you didn't come out?" The more Joseph guessed, the more guilty and angry he felt. "That bastard David, I won't let him off. I'm going to teach him a lesson right now."
"Joseph, are you crazy?" Cassie scolded anxiously.
"No, I'm not crazy. I'm useless, so David hurt you. I'll leave the medicine at your door and go." Joseph put the medicine down and slammed the car door hard.
Cassie quickly ran to the window and saw him really driving away. She cursed under her breath and hurriedly grabbed her car keys to chase after him.
Joseph drove fast, and she only caught up with him at the foot of the mountain, forcing him to make an emergency stop. She immediately got out of the car.
She had rushed out in a camisole nightgown without even wearing a mask. Her swollen face was exposed in the moonlight, making Joseph's heart almost break with pain.
"That bastard dare to hit you so hard." Joseph's eyes were filled with anger.
"Joseph, don't go looking for David," Cassie pleaded, looking at him, "Besides, it's not entirely his fault. Any man would be angry."
Joseph felt deep remorse and guilt. "Cassie, I'm sorry. It's all my fault. You must be in so much pain."
As he said, he slapped himself hard, leaving a handprint on his handsome face, even breaking the corner of his mouth.
Cassie was startled. "Why do you hit yourself so hard?"
She thought most men would pretend to do it.
"I just wanted to feel your pain." Joseph raised his hand, unable to resist gently touching her face.
Cassie looked at his deep, pained eyes and took a few steps back, feeling uneasy.
