Chapter 1217 Are You Isabella?

"Everett, are you seriously doubting Olivia for an outsider?" Declan stared at him. "What if your mom finds out?"

"I'm not doubting Olivia. I think there's a misunderstanding," Everett whispered. "She asked for help yesterday. I tested her by suggesting I could send her abroad, but she refused. She genuinely loves Joseph. From an outsider's view, she seems loyal and caring. Would someone like that harm her grandma and parents?"

"Everett, she might be fooling you. Cassie is very cunning," Declan said coldly. "Honestly, I don't care about the Brooks family's issues. It's just because they were once your mom's family. I want to sort this out quickly and take your mom back to Neya City. I don't want any complications."

Everett was taken aback. He wasn't dumb; he caught Declan saying "might", which implied a lot.

"Dad, I agree she must be cunning. She couldn't have become a company chairman without it. But you've met many cunning people. After talking to her, what do you think of her?" Everett asked.

Declan glanced at him.

Everett shrugged and smiled. "From a man's perspective, she's interesting. Even when asking for help, she didn't seem inferior. She's proud, kind of like Mom when she was young."

"Shut up," Declan snapped. "Your mom is unique."

"Yes, but she might resemble Mom a bit. Anyway, I felt close to her when we met," Everett said seriously. "I didn't say I'd help her; I just gave her a chance to meet you. If she can't seize it, that's on her. I've done my part."

"You didn't reveal my identity, did you?" Declan warned.

"Of course not. I'm not an idiot," Everett pouted. "I'm done talking. I'm going to check the construction site."

"Are you really planning to start a bank in Madison?" Declan frowned, recalling what Cassie had said. "We tried before, but it's tough for foreign banks to break into the market here."

"The main issue is the lack of connections. I'll give it a shot. Madison is growing fast and has a lot of potential. Ignoring it would be a waste."

After Everett finished, Declan fell silent.

He remembered what Cassie had said.

She wasn't simple.

If he didn't know about the Brooks family's issues, he would admire Cassie. He thought Joseph seemed capable. With Cassie's help, the Hernandez Group would thrive.

If only she were Isabella's daughter. This thought surprised even Declan.

"Dad, what are you thinking?"

"Nothing, go ahead and get busy," Declan almost told him to get lost.

Everett left feeling a bit frustrated.

An assistant approached Declan. "Should we keep an eye on Mr. Everett Wittelsbach to stop Cassie from bothering him?"

Declan paused, then sneered. "Yeah, let's watch. I want to see if Cassie is really that carefree. If she keeps pestering Everett, I'll deal with her quickly."

But if she didn't, he might have to rethink his view of Cassie.

After giving instructions, he called Isabella, his tone gentle. "Honey, when are you coming back?"

"We're still shopping," Isabella said, enjoying her time. "We're planning to stay in Whisperlyn City for a while, so I'm buying more clothes and skincare products with Olivia."

"Then buy me some clothes too," Declan said quickly. "Come back early; I'm waiting for you for dinner."

Isabella felt a bit helpless.

"Mom, I think this dress suits you," Olivia said, walking over in a blue dress, smiling.

Isabella glanced at it. The style was just okay, but seeing Olivia's interest, she said, "Then let's buy it."

"Aren't you going to try it on?" Olivia asked.

"No need," Isabella handed over her card.

Olivia was thrilled because she liked it. She knew she had good taste. She kept recommending things to Isabella, but their tastes were different.

Isabella felt a bit helpless. Olivia's taste was a bit tacky, but she didn't want to discourage her. After a while, she lost interest and suggested they go back.

"Mom, why don't we go back after dinner?" Olivia suggested. She still had many things to buy and rarely had Isabella with her, so she wanted to shop more.

"Forget it. Declan doesn't like eating out," Isabella refused.

As they left the mall, they stood at the entrance, waiting for the driver to bring the car around.

It was five in the afternoon, and traffic was picking up.

Aiden was in his car reading documents. Feeling tired, he rubbed his temples and opened the window. Outside was one of the busiest malls in Whisperlyn City.

When he saw a familiar figure by the roadside, Aiden froze and suddenly shouted, "Stop the car."

The driver was startled. "Mr. Chapman, we can't stop here for long."

"I said stop the car right now," Aiden opened the door.

The driver, surprised, hit the brakes.

Aiden ignored the traffic and quickly walked towards the figure. The closer he got, the clearer he saw the face. The woman looked just like Isabella from over twenty years ago.

Aiden felt like he was dreaming, his legs weak.

"Are you Isabella?" he asked in disbelief.

Isabella hadn't noticed him at first. When Aiden stood in front of her, she looked up, stunned.

Aiden, in his fifties with some wrinkles, still showed signs of having been a handsome and elegant man in his youth.
