Chapter 1669 I'm waiting for you to propose!

"Two years, huh."

Laura murmured softly. She was twenty-eight at the time, neither too early nor too late.

"Sweetheart, that's too late. You won't look as beautiful as a bride then," Derek gently squeezed her small hand. "You've never been a bride before, don't you want to try? Look, Joseph and Cassie are even having a wedding ceremony again."

Laura was taken aback.

Yes, she had been married before but had never been a bride.

Thinking about it, she felt a bit tempted.

"Maybe I won't even need two years before I want to marry you," Laura blinked, wrapping her arms around his neck.

"That would be even better," Derek said with a smile. "Sweetie, I'm waiting for you to propose to me."

Laura was confused and then, coming to her senses, angrily punched his chest. "Derek, do you believe I won't marry you?"

It was really too much. He even wanted her, a woman, to propose. How shameless.

Maeve saw Laura hitting him and mimicked her, waving her little fists and hitting Derek.

"Maeve, don't learn from your mom, it's too fierce," Derek quickly hugged his two precious girls, one big and one small, to comfort them.

"Alright, so you think I'm fierce, I'm not talking to you anymore."

Laura pretended to be angry and tried to walk away.

Derek grabbed her wrist, pulled her into his arms, and kissed her on the lips. "I like you even when you're fierce."

Maeve saw this and also came over to kiss her mommy.

"Don't do this in front of Maeve," Laura said, embarrassed, glaring at Derek.

"Maeve should get used to it. There's no way around it, her dad loves her mom so much," Derek said, holding Laura affectionately.

At that moment, Laura's heart felt as sweet as honey. "So you really want to be Maeve's dad? Will James and his family agree?"

"Once I marry you, it won't matter if they agree or not," Derek said with a smile. "Besides, I'm their biological nephew. Once we get married, Maeve will eventually have to call me dad."

Laura didn't say anything. She felt it wouldn't be that easy to resolve, especially since James had given Maeve a significant amount of shares in the Jude Group.

Seeing her silence, Derek leaned in and whispered in her ear, "In the past, we didn't mind Maeve interacting with Michael. But after this incident, Michael has shown he's not a good person. He almost did something that could harm the country. When Maeve grows up and matures, she'll definitely feel uncomfortable about it. So, don't mention that Michael is her biological father in front of her anymore."

Laura's lips parted slightly.

She had thought Michael was just smearing her and Derek's family online. What else had Michael done that was so terrible?

Michael must have lost his mind.

Michael didn't think about himself, but didn't he think about his parents and daughter?

It was fortunate that Michael's uncle was the president. If it had been someone else...

Laura didn't dare to think further.

No wonder Derek said Maeve shouldn't know Michael was her biological father.

If Maeve grew up and learned the truth, knowing she had a father like Michael, how ashamed would she be?

Seeing her sudden silence, Derek hugged her tightly. "Don't overthink it. You have me."

"Okay."

Laura leaned against him, feeling a bit down.

By around eight in the evening, Rose couldn't stand it anymore and came in, saying, "Laura, I'll bath Maeve. Why don't you go for a walk with Derek? He rarely comes to see you, and you can't always have him looking after the child."

"It's okay, I really like Maeve. I'll give her a bath," Derek immediately stood up with the child. "I've given Maeve plenty of baths before."

Rose was stunned and quickly waved her hand. "No need, I..."

"Give me a chance to show off. I really want to be Maeve's dad," Derek said with a flattering smile.

His intentions were so obvious and direct that Rose couldn't help but laugh.

"Alright, Mom, let him do it."

Seeing Derek so eager, Laura didn't stop him and teased, "You want to be Maeve's dad? It's not that easy. Show us what you've got."

Derek enthusiastically gave Maeve a fragrant bath.

Bathing Maeve wasn't an easy task, but Derek was strong and patient. Afterward, he fed Maeve a bottle of milk, and only then did Laura see him out.

"Thank you, get some rest early," Laura squeezed his palm. "When you're done with your work, let's find some time to go on a date."

"Sure, once I finish these few days, I'll be free every day," Derek said, looking at Laura, who was illuminated by the moonlight, and had an idea. "After I resign, I won't have to stay at the Presidential Palace every night. I plan to stay at my other house three or four days a week. Would you like to join me?"

The last two words were said softly and suggestively.

Laura blushed. "That's not good. I'm living with my parents now, and I can't just leave Maeve at night."

"You can occasionally bring Maeve over, let me get used to being a dad," Derek hooked her little finger and whispered in her ear, "I miss you."

"Rogue, you should go."

Laura immediately understood, blushing as she shook off his hand. "I didn't sleep well last night either. I'm going back to sleep."

"Alright."

Derek bent down, leaned in, and stole a kiss on her lips. "Goodnight, sweetheart."

Laura looked up and met his deep, gentle eyes, her heart trembling, almost wanting to ask him to stay.

But she knew it wasn't realistic.

Although Derek was frustrated in his career, he was happy in love and had a good night's sleep.

On the other hand, Michael was tied up in a sealed room, unable to sleep well.

After two sleepless days, Michael looked much more haggard, his eyes full of bloodshot and hatred. When he glared at people, there was no longer any charm, only a knife-like, ferocious hatred.

At dawn.

When Julia came in, she saw Michael like this.

"Julia, let me go."

Over the night, Michael had thought through a lot. He had lost this battle completely. If he continued to make trouble, it wouldn't end well. He might as well temporarily give in, go abroad, and find a chance for revenge later.

After all, Michael knew many secrets about the Jude family.

When the time came, he would make Derek and the others pay a heavy price.

If he couldn't have a good life, no one else would either.

"Julia, I've thought it through. I'm willing to go abroad. Anyway, I can't beat you guys in this lifetime. I don't want to come back to this miserable place anymore."

Michael showed a face of despair and frustration, as if he had really given in.
