Chapter 1060 Are You Ignoring Me?
"Don't worry. We'll investigate again." Ian nodded seriously. If it were intentional murder, he would never let the killer escape.
Leaving the police station, Cassie kept a stern face. Joseph, afraid she was angry, explained to her, "I'm sorry, Cassie, I can't show the police the text messages Wyatt sent me. The Chamberlain family is too powerful right now. Without enough evidence, we can't bring them down. Wyatt can't be exposed, or Liam's death would be in vain."
"I understand. I'm not as dumb as you think," Cassie said irritably, "Even if the police continue to investigate, they probably won't find anything."
Joseph raised an eyebrow. "Not necessarily. Even if they can't catch the mastermind, they can still give them a hard time. David used the Chamberlain family's hitman. If the police keep investigating, Marcus will definitely notice. If someone causes trouble behind Marcus's back, do you think he won't get angry?"
Cassie was taken aback and glanced at him. "You're not as stupid as I thought."
Joseph's face turned sullen. He could tell she was mocking him for being deceived by Megan before. He would only allow her to say that; if it were anyone else, he would have dealt with them long ago. "Cassie, I'm not the same as before."
"I heard Megan hired Mark to represent her in court. You have a trial tomorrow?" Cassie suddenly changed the topic.
"Cassie, you seem quite concerned about my affairs," Joseph said with an ambiguous smile.
Cassie replied, "Of course, when we divorced, you gave me nothing. But when you broke up with Megan, you gave her one billion dollars."
Joseph was regretful. He actually hurt himself by his own doing. He looked at her and said earnestly, "Cassie, I was wrong. If I win the case, I'll give you the one billion dollars right away. I'll give you everything. If you're still not satisfied, you can hit me or scold me. If you're still angry, you can hit or scold me right now."
Cassie pondered, 'Right now?'
Cassie looked at the bustling entrance of the police station. If Joseph knelt, it would definitely make headlines tomorrow.
"Joseph, where's your arrogance?" she asked.
Joseph said seriously, "For you, I can give up my pride and dignity."
Cassie rubbed her temples. His interruption made her forget what she wanted to say.
She turned and walked towards the car. Joseph immediately ran over to open the passenger door for her.
"Cassie." David's car suddenly stopped in front of them. He stepped out in a black suit, his gaze gentle. "I guessed you would come to the police station. Is everything resolved?"
Joseph's face turned sullen. Just as he was about to speak, he heard Cassie apologize, "It's resolved. I'm sorry. I was so worried about Oliver and Sophia that I forgot to contact you."
"It's okay, as long as Oliver and Sophia are fine. Let's go home," David said, reaching out to take Cassie's hand.
Joseph grabbed his wrist, his icy eyes fixed on David. "She's not going back. Oliver and Sophia were frightened. She needs to come with me."
David met Joseph's gaze. "She's my wife. She should come home with me."
"Joseph, let go. David is right. I should go back home with him. You take good care of Oliver and Sophia," Cassie cut in.
Joseph looked at her in shock and disappointment. Her beautiful face was calm.
He thought to himself, ''What is she trying to do? Does she know what she is saying? I just told her that David might be the one who harms Sophia and Oliver, and she believed it. But why does she still side with David?'
"Let's go." Cassie ignored Joseph's pained expression and got into the car with David.
David smirked as he thoughtfully opened the car door for her and fastened her seatbelt.
They looked like a sweet couple.
Joseph angrily punched the car.
David's car quickly drove away.
In the car, David held Cassie's hand tightly. "Cassie, I'm quite happy. I thought you would stay with Oliver and Sophia tonight."
"I wanted to, but they also have Joseph. He should take some responsibility."
"True." David's eyes flashed. "By the way, what happened with the car accident today?"
"Brian said he mistook the gas pedal for the brake," Cassie said angrily, "But Joseph said it wasn't that simple. He found out that Frank had suddenly gone to Austin to buy a house and a car. Someone might instruct Brian."
David's fingers slightly curled on the steering wheel. He didn't think Joseph had investigated so quickly. "Joseph has offended too many people. You shouldn't have let Oliver and Sophia acknowledge him. You should bring them to live with us. It's not safe for them to stay with Joseph."
"I think so, but Joseph won't agree. You know, he's a lawyer. If we go to court, we might not win," Cassie said, pretending to be troubled.
"No worries. As long as you're willing, I'll help you." David patted her hand.
"I'll think about it." Cassie nodded.
Joseph returned to the Hernandez Mansion in frustration.
Sophia and Oliver immediately ran out. They were disappointed to see him alone. "Where's Mommy? Isn't she coming to stay with us?"
"She went back with David," Joseph said, holding back his sadness as he hugged Sophia. "I'll stay with you, okay?"
"No, I want Mommy. Mommy doesn't stay with me, so I'm angry." Sophia stomped her foot and ran upstairs crying.
Oliver frowned stubbornly. Although he said nothing, he was still upset.
Sophia and Oliver were frightened, so it was normal for them to want Cassie.
Mabel and Mildred sighed. They could only try their best to make Sophia and Oliver happy.
Sophia and Oliver had someone to comfort them, but Joseph had no one.
He irritably sent a series of text messages to Cassie: [Because you didn't come, Sophia has been crying, and Oliver is unhappy.]
[I'm also unhappy]
[We all miss you]
[We all need you]
[Are you ignoring me? If you ignore me, I'll keep texting until you respond]
[Respond to me, will you? Please respond to me]
When Cassie finally dealt with David and returned to her room, Joseph had already sent over thirty messages. She was speechless and replied: [Alright, stop texting. You are childish. I'll stay with Sophia and Oliver tomorrow.]
