Chapter 967 Joseph was Down and Out
Nathan was startled, but then he felt a surge of excitement. "Great, I've had enough of Joseph for a long time. Michael and Joseph are good friends. Will Michael give me trouble?"
Michael had just come back after hiding out for a while. If he provoked Michael again, he feared the consequences would be severe.
"You idiot. Joseph has always been arrogant and has offended many people. Sometimes you don't need to do it yourself; just say a few words, and someone will naturally teach him a lesson," Megan reminded him.
Nathan understood. "Got it."
In all of Whisperlyn City, Nathan knew exactly who disliked Joseph.
Nathan's eyes lit up as he dialed a number. "Leon, where are you hanging out?"
It was eleven o'clock.
Joseph, drunk, put down a stack of cash and staggered out of the bar.
In his daze, he seemed to bump into someone.
That person pushed him hard, and Joseph, whose legs were weak, fell into a mud puddle.
"Look, this is the once arrogant Joseph. He used to be so cocky. When we talked to him, he never responded. We're the same age, but Joseph always looked down on us," Leon mocked, pointing at Joseph and laughing.
Leon's subordinates laughed along with him.
"Mr. Baker, now that the Hernandez family is down, Joseph is no match for you." someone flattered Leon.
"Yeah, I thought I'd never get the chance to teach Joseph a lesson." Leon stepped on Joseph's chest with a smug look. "Joseph, do you remember who I am?"
"Get lost." Joseph gasped. His mind was already numb from the alcohol.
"You don't recognize me, but I know you," Leon said through gritted teeth. "You broke my leg on Michael's yacht before."
Joseph shook his aching head hard; he had no idea what Leon was talking about.
"Joseph, it's okay you don't remember me. I can remind you. Three years ago, we were watching Cassie dance and touched her a bit on Michael's yacht. You were so arrogant, had our legs broken, and threatened to make our families disappear if we told anyone." Leon pressed his foot hard on Joseph's chest. "You were so cocky back then. I didn't expect you'd end up like this. I've been holding that hatred for years. An eye for an eye."
With that, Leon stomped hard on Joseph's kneecap.
Joseph's face turned pale with pain. Despite being drunk, he instinctively pulled Leon down.
Leon, regaining his balance, was furious and waved his hand. "Get him! Tonight, I won't stop until Joseph is disabled."
Leon brought over a dozen men, who immediately surrounded Joseph.
Joseph, drunk and unable to see clearly, was quickly kicked to the ground. The group surrounded him, punching and kicking.
Initially, Joseph could still resist. But then, for some reason, he didn't want to move anymore and let them beat him.
Joseph thought, 'Go ahead. Beat me. My life was hopeless. I was deceived by Megan. That hypocritical woman ruined my marriage and made me lose my children. Now, Cassie is someone else's wife. The Hernandez family declined under my watch, and even Liam's death was partly my fault. More tragically, I was infertile.'
By the roadside, a sports car stopped at a traffic light.
Tonight was the birthday of the Peace Group's general manager. As the chairwoman, Cassie had booked a box and invited the company's top executives to celebrate.
It wasn't until just now that Cassie left the KTV.
As the light turned green, Cassie drove forward, catching a glimpse of a fight on the roadside.
Cassie stopped and took a closer look. A group of people were beating up one man.
Cassie frowned and immediately hit the brakes.
In the past, Cassie would have just called the police, but now, with her improved skills, she was willing to help if she could.
As she approached, Cassie realized the person being beaten looked familiar. Despite being covered in mud and water, she recognized the battered face. It was Joseph.
Cassie could hardly believe Joseph had fallen to the point of being beaten on the street.
She pondered, 'Isn't Joseph quite skilled? These people should be easy for him to handle. What happened? It seems he completely lost hope in life.'
"Stop." Seeing a man in a floral shirt about to hit Joseph's leg with a steel rod, Cassie immediately kicked him away.
"You're looking for trouble." The man in the floral shirt sneered when he saw Cassie. "It's you, Cassie. I heard you married another man, yet you're here to save Joseph. Do you have an affair with him?"
"Who are you?" Cassie found the man somewhat familiar as if she'd seen him before.
"Don't you remember me?" The man scratched his neck and laughed. "Three years ago, you danced for us on Michael's yacht. I still remember your looks and figure. I even tipped you a thousand bucks."
"It's you!" Cassie suddenly recalled it, her beautiful face turning grim.
Back then, when Cassie first came to Whisperlyn City, she was bullied terribly by these people.
"You finally remembered it. I am Leon Baker," Leon said, his smile turning sinister. "For the sake of you being Aiden's daughter, leave now, or don't blame me for being rude."
"What are you going to do to me?" Cassie laughed. "You're just a nobody. In Whisperlyn City's elite families, the Baker family is at the bottom. Don't talk tough in front of me; you're nothing to me."
Leon's face turned red with anger. "Fine. You ask for it."
Leon waved his hand, and over a dozen men surrounded Cassie.
Cassie clenched her fists and quickly took them all down.
Seeing the situation turn, Leon tried to run.
Cassie stepped on a steel rod, flipping it up with her foot. She caught it with one hand and smashed it onto Leon's back.
As Leon fell to the ground, Cassie walked over with a smile. "I almost forgot about you, but you just reminded me. Three years ago, you did bully me terribly."
