Chapter 1709 Show Him Our Marriage Certificate
Julia has always been strong-willed and doesn't like being forced.
She stood up angrily, only to be pushed back down by Elliott.
"Sit down, don't move," Elliott tried to make his voice sound less cold. "If you don't finish your breakfast today, I'll drag you back from the elevator."
Julia calmed down, her beautiful face remaining motionless.
Elliott brought up the breakfast he had prepared. Considering she was still sick, he made a light breakfast: porridge, a poached egg, half a corn cob, and a meat floss toast roll. Another plate had sliced kiwi, oranges, and tomatoes.
His breakfasts were always well-made.
Especially during the time he lived abroad, even the plating was exquisite.
She used to be very picky, but during the time they were dating, she would always finish the breakfast he made.
After all these years, he still remembered what she liked to eat.
But why did he have to be kind after hurting her?
At this moment, Julia hated him a bit. If he was always cold and hateful towards her, she might have completely given up this time.
But instead, he had to turn around and be nice to her. Just a little bit of kindness, and she would foolishly start hoping again.
She resented herself for being like this.
"Eat." Elliott handed her a spoon and explained, "You had nothing at home, so I had these things delivered last night."
Julia's gaze was complicated.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang outside.
It was likely her secretary coming so early. As Julia hesitated, Elliott had already gotten up and walked to the door.
"Wait, you don't need to answer it. Just ignore it," Julia said.
"Am I that embarrassing to you?"
Elliott gave her a light glance, then walked to the door. From the screen, he saw a man in a sharp suit, wearing glasses, with a scholarly yet business elite demeanor.
Garth.
The name flashed through Elliott's mind, and he opened the door directly.
"Julia, I brought you—"
Garth hadn't finished his sentence when he saw a completely unfamiliar man opening the door. He instinctively froze.
This was the first time he had seen another man in Julia's apartment besides Aaron. The man looked younger, tall, with a great physique, and strikingly handsome features, a high nose bridge, and sharp eyes.
Garth quickly scanned his attire: a light-colored shirt and black pants, both wrinkled, indicating they weren't freshly put on this morning. This meant the man likely stayed over last night.
"Who are you?"
Garth was angry inside, but his calm face showed no emotion, as if he were looking at an irrelevant stranger. "Is Julia here? She's not feeling well, so I made her some breakfast."
He emphasized the word "personally."
There was a hint of ambiguity in his words.
"No need, I made her breakfast."
Elliott, being experienced in the business world, quickly deduced that this man was Garth.
A man bringing breakfast early in the morning made Elliott very angry, but he knew that showing anger in front of Garth would only play into his hands.
Elliott took a pair of shoes from the shoe cabinet and placed them on the floor. "You must be Julia's colleague. Come in."
His demeanor made it seem like Elliott was the master of the house.
Garth's expression almost cracked.
He could only put on the slippers and come in.
Seeing Garth in the dining room, Julia's face didn't look too good.
She hadn't expected it to be Garth. If she had known, she wouldn't have let Elliott answer the door. With Elliott's bad temper, she even suspected he might argue with Garth.
She instinctively glanced at Elliott, but seeing his usual cold demeanor, she relaxed.
After all, arguing with her privately was one thing, but causing a scene in front of others would be real trouble.
However, now that Garth had seen Elliott here, their relationship couldn't be hidden anymore.
"Julia, are you feeling better?"
Garth sat down next to Julia, his tone gentle and concerned. "How's your health? My mom heard you were sick yesterday, so she had me make some soup for you this morning."
He placed a thermos on the table. "Drink it while it's hot."
Garth didn't ask Elliott a single question, as if he didn't exist.
Julia looked at the thermos, instinctively glancing at Elliott, fearing he might smash it.
"Darling, who is he?" To her surprise, Elliott suddenly sat on her other side, affectionately wrapping his arm around her waist. "Your colleague? Aren't you going to introduce us?"
"Darling?"
Garth looked like he had heard something unbelievable. "Julia, I remember you're not married. And who is he? Why didn't you tell me?"
"Maybe she didn't have time to say it," Elliott said calmly. "We got married a few days ago. Darling, he doesn't seem to believe it. Should we show him our marriage certificate? I remember you carefully put it away on the day we registered."
Julia was silent.
"Julia, you're married?" Garth's face looked like it was about to crack. "Don't joke around. I saw your dad yesterday, and he said you didn't even have a boyfriend."
"I'm not joking," Elliott said lazily. "Haven't you heard of 'acting first and reporting later'? Julia loves me so much that she was afraid the Jude family wouldn't accept me, so she got the marriage certificate first."
Elliott paused, then looked at Julia with gentle eyes. "Darling, isn't that right? I haven't forgotten how you proposed to me. I'll never forget it."
Julia was speechless.
When did she propose? She had no idea.
Hearing these words from Elliott shocked her.
Wasn't he avoiding her?
And now he was making this public, wasn't it chaotic enough?
Garth stood up abruptly, his face dark. "I don't believe you."
"Believe it or not, it's none of our business." Elliott didn't look at him again, but propped his chin and asked Julia, "Darling, you haven't told me who he is. He seems to have a hard time accepting your marriage. Could it be that he likes you?"
Garth's mouth twitched hard.
Many people knew he liked Julia, but they hadn't made it public. If it had been revealed earlier, he would have been happy. Now it made him look like an adulterer.
It was too humiliating.
