Chapter 1704 Young Love is Beautiful

Garth stared at her for a moment, seeing her determined look, and nodded.

"Alright, but I hope you can contact me if anything happens. You are the company president; nothing can go wrong."

"Okay."

After signing, Julia had the secretary take the documents and leave with Garth.

She really needed a good rest.

The Miller Group.

Elliott stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, his eyes fixed on the endless stream of traffic below.

His mind kept replaying the chaotic scenes from last night. When he recalled it, he felt pain and confusion.

He had never believed that his usually calm and composed self could be so extreme and crazy last night, even to the point of making her bleed like a madman.

But was it his fault?

If she hadn't deceived him, if she had kept her distance from other men, if she hadn't forced him into marriage, maybe he wouldn't have turned out this way.

But why, after she left last night, did he stay awake the entire night?

The secretary came in again, seeing Elliott still in the same position. She couldn't understand what was so fascinating about the view below that kept Elliott motionless for so long, even neglecting his work.

She didn't know what was wrong with Elliott. When he arrived this morning, she felt something was off. The usually meticulous Elliott was wearing a wrinkled suit, no tie, unshaven, with bloodshot eyes.

Could it be related to last night's traffic accident?

She remembered Elliott asking her to find someone to delete the video of the Bentley female driver involved in the accident last night.

"Mr. Miller, Mr. Baskin is here," the secretary reminded.

Elliott moved slightly and turned around. Alphonse, standing behind the secretary, had a look of surprise in his eyes. "Elliott, I got a call this morning."

"You can leave now," Elliott said to the secretary.

After the secretary left, Alphonse closed the door. "What's going on? Didn't sleep last night?"

"What were you about to say?" Elliott asked.

"The driver involved in the accident contacted me. A woman driving a Bentley had an accident last night. The other party said you left a business card and asked me to handle it," Alphonse said playfully. "I've known you for so long, and the only person you'd handle a traffic accident for is Laura. But I remember she doesn't drive a Bentley."

"How's it being handled?" Elliott didn't answer the question.

"I know nothing about the car's owner, and I don't know if she reported it to the insurance," Alphonse shrugged. "We'll see how much it costs to repair the Bentley and which insurance company she reported it to."

Elliott pursed his thin lips and said after a long pause, "It's Julia's car."

"It's her? When did you two..." Alphonse looked surprised.

He and Elliott had met while studying abroad. Although they weren't in the same major, they both participated in the school's football program and were both from Madison, so they became friends. After returning, most of the Miller Group's cases were handled by him. He was one of the witnesses to Elliott and Julia's relationship.

He still remembered the day Julia got married. He spent the whole night drinking with Elliott.

Elliott was a drunken mess, completely out of it, but Alphonse clearly saw Elliott, a grown man, crying his heart out.

After that, Elliott never mentioned Julia again, but Alphonse knew Elliott's heart was truly broken. He hated Julia and didn't believe in true love or women anymore, which was why Elliott remained single.

"We got married," Elliott added after seeing Alphonse's shocked expression. "She forced me."

Alphonse was dumbfounded for a long time before saying, "It seems she never forgot about you."

Elliott laughed coldly, "A woman like her, she just thinks it's fun. Or maybe she has everything now and occasionally reminisces about her first love. She doesn't understand the meaning of loyalty."

"That can't be."

Alphonse thought his friend was being a bit extreme. "As you said, Julia has everything she wants. If she didn't still love you, would she need to marry you? Come on, marriage! You're a wealthy man yourself; you should know that wealthy people are very cautious about marriage. If she just wanted to reminisce about her first love, sleeping with you would be enough. Why bother getting married? She's much richer than you. If things don't work out in the future, she'd be the one losing out."

Elliott was stunned, his thin lips pressed together in a complicated expression.

Julia had said similar things last night, but they were arguing then, and he didn't believe anything.

Alphonse said, "Honestly, all these years, I know you hate her. But if you didn't love her, where would the hate come from? To be fair, she did wrong you back then. She promised to come back and meet your parents to get married, but within a month of returning, she decided to marry another man and was determined to break up with you. But from her perspective, she had her difficulties too."

"Difficulties?" Elliott looked at him coldly. "Who thought about my pain?"

"Elliott, do you think the Jude family would have agreed to you two being together even if Julia had brought you back then?" Alphonse asked. "Back then, the Miller Group was nothing compared to the Jude family. They wouldn't have agreed to your marriage. They would have thought you were beneath her. Don't be fooled by the Jude family agreeing to Michael marrying your sister. That was just to get rid of Megan. Besides, the Jude family doesn't need any alliances now."

Elliott was stunned and silent.

Maybe it was because he and Julia never got to that point, so all he saw was her kicking him aside to climb higher.

"Honestly, even if Julia hadn't broken up with you back then, your status differences would have led to no result. Dating abroad is different; it's free and youthful. Now that we're mature, looking back, we were too young and naive. Even if you had persisted back then, you would have faced the Jude family's ridicule and pressure. With your pride, you couldn't have handled it, and your parents couldn't have borne the humiliation."

"Also, after graduation, you had to return to take over the Miller Group. You were in Silverwood, and Julia was in Whisperlyn City. Would you have moved to Whisperlyn City for her? No, the Miller Group wasn't qualified for that. Would Julia have moved to Silverwood for you? Unlikely. She's a prodigy, and her parents wouldn't accept her marrying into a small place like Silverwood. Even if she went there, it would have wasted her talents."

"In your twenties, you were destined to break up."

Elliott was dazed for a long time. It was only a few seconds, but the thoughts in his mind made it feel like an eternity. "Why didn't you ever tell me this?"

"I thought you two had no chance, so I didn't say anything."
