Chapter 79

"She was finally going to be free.

Forty minutes later, she arrived at Laura's place.

Laura, with messy hair, yawned and looked at her. ""Another conflict? Are you planning to stay here for a few days?""

""I didn't start it. And I really don't plan to go back,"" Cassie replied as she walked inside.

""You can't be serious! Have you given up on your marriage just like that?"" Laura was astonished.

Cassie pursed her pale lips and said with a bitter smile, ""Not every deal can be profitable. I guess I made a loss this time.""

Laura's mouth gaped in disbelief. ""Are you being serious?""

""Yes."" Cassie sat on the sofa, exuding an air of illness. ""I'm tired, really tired.""

Laura frowned. ""Are you sick?""

""Yeah."" Cassie almost wanted to cry. ""Everyone can see it, except him. I want warmth and care too. Even though he is Arthur's uncle, if I can't get his attention, I will probably be mocked to death by Olivia and the others. I don't want to bring trouble upon myself.""

Laura looked at her for a moment, realized that her friend had truly given up, and sighed.

""Alright, I respect your decision. Just stay here with me. After all, I live alone too.""

""That's not good. You and Benjamin haven't..."" Cassie hesitated.

Laura blushed and glared at her. ""I already told you, we haven't. Who says being in a relationship requires that?""

""But you've been together for a year."" Cassie blinked. ""I didn't know you were so conservative. It must be Benjamin's problem then. Is he incapable?""

""What do you mean?"" Laura crossed her arms. ""I've felt it, you know.""

Cassie let out a sigh.

""It's just that he recently took over the company, so he's really busy."" Laura sighed helplessly. ""We only meet once or twice a week now, so you don't have to worry. The reason I asked you to find a place before was because Arthur would always find me here, but now he's gone.""

Speaking of Arthur, the smile on Cassie's face turned into mockery. ""He's completely infatuated with Olivia now.""

""I just think he's brainless. He's getting engaged in a few days. Are you really leaving?"" Laura looked at her worriedly.

""Yes, once my grandmother's birthday is over, I'll leave,"" Cassie replied.

""I'm worried that the Brooks family might do something bad again. Unfortunately, I have an exam that day, so I can't accompany you. But Benjamin will be there, so I'll ask him to take care of you,"" Laura said with concern.

Cassie felt calm inside.

Well, revenge through Joseph's path is no longer an option.

She had figured things out now. Sideways revenge is not the solution she wants.

After having her dignity trampled upon, Cassie knew she needed to repay Joseph as soon as possible. On the third day, Billy returned from his business trip, and Cassie mustered up the courage to approach him at his office.

""Billy, could you advance me this month's salary? I owe someone money."" Cassie hesitated to ask.

""No big deal. How much do you owe? Just let me know, and I'll transfer it to you. The client was very impressed with you this time. I'll even throw in the villa project for you."" Billy generously took out his phone. ""Is a hundred thousand dollars okay?""

Cassie was taken aback. ""No, that's too much. Twenty thousand dollars at most would suffice.""

She still had the starting bonus from the Collins family, and David had also given her one yesterday. She intended to repay Joseph a bit more, so as to avoid him nitpicking.

""Don't be so surprised. The Foster Mansion renovation project cost over ten million dollars, and you'll receive a commission of one million dollars for the project."" Billy transferred one million dollars to her directly, encouraging her to do well.

Cassie was deeply moved. She decided to focus on her work and do it properly from now on."
