Chapter 1421 Truly Foolish
"But you're right; the Jude Family definitely doesn't want you to get divorced. Plus, the news about your wedding is already out there. If you suddenly get divorced, you'll be the talk of the town. But you can tell me first. Once you're sure about the divorce, I'll talk to my parents and my grandfather," Derek said patiently.
Laura stared blankly at Derek, who was a few months younger than her.
Derek was super handsome, young, dressed in a black jacket, and had this calm vibe about him.
Derek, being a leader in politics, had this composed demeanor that made people trust him.
Of course, it might also be because Derek was good-looking.
She naturally liked good-looking people. Otherwise, she wouldn't have fallen for Benjamin at first sight in college, and later, she wouldn't have been swayed by a few sweet words from Michael.
"Didn't I ask you to check if Michael was socializing? Today, I found out he was with Megan that night. He even secretly hid Megan and often went to see her. Last night, he stayed with her until the early morning before coming back." She struggled to speak.
As a woman, telling others that her husband was with his first love was truly humiliating.
Derek was completely stunned, "Are you sure?"
"I just came from Megan's place. Michael was afraid I would hurt his precious Megan, so he rushed over to protect her," Laura sneered. "When I left, he was still holding Megan tightly."
"Michael is truly foolish."
Derek, usually gentle, now showed disappointment and anger. Previously, for Maeve's sake, Derek had thought about Michael and Laura being married and had deliberately used the identity of a rival to provoke Michael.
Had he known this, Derek would have encouraged them to divorce earlier.

Derek's words were cold.
But Laura's eyes inexplicably welled up with tears again.
She had doubted Derek before, but now she truly believed him.
She believed Derek was on her side.
Laura said, her voice hoarse, "Derek, thank you. Actually, I don't need your support. It's enough that you understand."
Derek sighed softly, "If I don't understand you, it will be hard for you to get a smooth divorce. If James finds out about Michael and Megan, he will probably stop you from divorcing. They might think that with you and Maeve, at least you can make Michael come to his senses. But I don't agree with you dragging this out. The ones getting hurt are you and Maeve."
"I've thought about that too," Laura said bitterly. Despite their usual scolding of Michael, they still cared for him.
Derek paused and then said, "And this time, they probably won't kick Michael out in a fit of anger like before."
Laura looked a bit puzzled.
Derek reached out and ruffled her hair.
The gesture felt kind of intimate.
Laura suddenly remembered Michael's previous warning, but now it seemed like a joke.
Michael could spend the whole night with Megan, but she couldn't even have her hair ruffled by Derek.
Laura hadn't realized before how selfish Michael was.
"Because now Michael is involved in the core business of the Jude Family," Derek said seriously.
Laura suddenly got it, "You mean the new energy project?"
"Yeah," Derek nodded. "In recent years, technology has developed rapidly, and international competition is fierce. This project is the most important core project for Madison in the past decade. Even in the initial stages, my dad and James strongly supported it. Despite Michael's repeated foolishness with Megan, he still has a good business mind. This project, under the control of Michael and Aaron, has officially started, and Michael is the main person in charge. No one can replace him. Laura was stunned. She rarely asked about Michael's work, and he didn't talk much about it either.

Derek smiled slightly.
A trace of gentleness flashed in Derek's eyes.
Many women might have wavered after hearing what he just said.
After all, Michael was genuinely a promising person. Some women would choose to let him flirt with others as long as they could remain in the position of his wife.
But Laura was different. Power and money never mattered to her.
"I'll help you with this. You can't live outside alone with Maeve. Michael can enter your house without your permission. You move to the Presidential Palace with Maeve first. I'll persuade my parents," Derek said firmly.
Laura instinctively wanted to refuse.
But she remembered moving to Riverside Blossom before, only for Michael to move in shortly after.
If Michael intended to pester her, it seemed only the Presidential Palace would be safe.
"Let's see," Laura said hesitantly. "He has Megan now. I think if I propose a divorce, he should be happy. My main concern is still Maeve."
Derek looked at her helplessly.
