Chapter 840
Laura shook her head, then rebutted, "I don't want to go out. I've been eating out every day recently, and my stomach doesn't feel good. I want to have a meal at home. Can you cook for me?"
"What?" Michael thought he was deaf.
"If you don't want to, that's fine. I just thought we could talk over a meal..." Laura said in amazement.
"I’m willing, I'm willing," he then yelled out.
Michael reluctantly caught up. He had never imagined that he would one day listen to Laura.
After going upstairs, Laura threw herself on the sofa, tore open the snacks on the table, and started eating, saying, "Hurry up and cook. If it's too bad, we won't have a chance to chat and don't even think about asking for help. I like sincerity."
Michael, feeling annoyed, opened the fridge. There were plenty of things inside, but only yogurt, milk, fruits, cheese, and no ingredients. After searching for a while, Michael found three steaks, sashimi, and frozen shrimp in the freezer.
Michael checked the dates, and they were expiring in two days.
Michael silently observed Laura and realized what kind of woman she was. She was simply not a domestic woman, and no one would want to marry her.
After finishing a bag of chips, Laura came in and found Michael thawing the steaks.
She had tried to cook them before, but since they were unseasoned steaks, they turned out to be particularly bad and undercooked.
"You're making steaks? That's really difficult," Laura kindly reminded. "Why don't you go downstairs and buy some burgers and hot dogs?"
"No need," Michael said expressionlessly.
That look made Laura think of Madison's dog.
Laura turned to Rose and video-called. "Mom, where's Plum? I saw a man who looked a bit like it just now, and suddenly, I missed our Plum."
"What kind of man?" Rose smiled and quickly brought a fluffy brown dog over. "If he looks like our Plum, he must look really strange. Plum is a dog."
"Not surprising. He looks quite girly," Laura answered.
"Are you talking about those effeminate men, Laura? When looking for a boyfriend, you should go for someone more masculine. Stop being single all the time. You should date!" Rose continued.
In the kitchen, Michael cursed his good hearing.
A man who looks like a dog?
That man looks quite girly?
Effeminate?
Michael was certainly sure that Laura was talking about him. This was an insult to Michael's soul. He gripped the knife tightly, took a deep breath, and endured it.
After chatting with Rose for forty minutes, until the kitchen was filled with aroma, Laura ended the video call.
Not long after, Michael came out with steaks, sashimi, and fried ribs, shocking Laura.
"Damn! You can actually cook?" she then exclaimed.
She stared wide-eyed as if she had seen a ghost.
