Chapter 1315 The Joseph I Like Is Not the One Now
Aiden was losing it inside, "I told her not to get back with Joseph. I'd rather she stay single forever than get hurt by him again and again."
The butler sighed, "Miss Cassie has had some bad luck in love..."
Cassie knocked on the door.
Aiden's face went stiff for a sec when he saw her, but he quickly slapped on a smile and greeted her warmly, "Cassie, you're back! Why didn't you give me a heads-up? Oh, you brought your luggage too. That's good. It's been pretty lonely here by myself."
He didn't bring up Joseph and Marigold, which made Cassie feel all warm inside. She knew Aiden was trying to spare her feelings and avoid making her sad.
"Dad, I heard what you said earlier. Actually, a few days ago, I made things clear with Joseph. He can date other women. He doesn't remember me and might never recall the past. There's no point in keeping him around just for the kid's sake."
Cassie said, "Besides, I don't like the current Joseph."
"Cassie, you..." Aiden sighed, "You're still defending him. I know you too well. Let's drop it. It's good that you're back. Staying with the Hernandez family would just lead to gossip, and there are plenty of other eligible guys out there."
"Thanks for understanding, Dad." Cassie smiled and linked her arm with his.
Aiden patted the back of her hand, "Hey, since you've got some free time, why not come work at the company? It's yours, after all. I'm getting old and could use your help."
Cassie frowned, "Dad, I can't. Olivia is dead, and Isabella probably hates me to the core. If I show up at the company, she'll target it. She's got a lot of pull overseas and could mess up your international business. Just forget it."
"How did your mom become like this?" Aiden looked disappointed and sad, "She can't even tell her own daughter apart and is helping our enemies against you. I should find a chance to talk to her."
"Her mind is completely controlled by the Robert couple," Cassie said, "She gave fifty percent of the Hernandez Group's shares to Robert, the guy who killed her mother."
Bringing up this matter made Cassie furious. The Robert couple had caused so much suffering for Cassie and her grandmother, yet Isabella kept helping them. She truly hated Isabella now.
Aiden saw the hatred in her eyes, and it made his heart ache in waves. But the more he felt that way, the more determined he was to meet Isabella.
The next day, at the Hernandez Group. Isabella was inspecting the company. The so-called inspection was actually not very thorough. These days, her headache has been getting worse and worse.
Helen on the side showed a concerned look. "Isabella, are you feeling unwell again? Declan is so cruel to have tormented you like this. I think you should go back to Emerald Haven Island for treatment. Get well first, and I'll take care of the company."
"I ain't leaving until I've avenged Olivia and found Everett." Isabella strutted back to her office in her high heels to catch a break. She had just closed her eyes to relax when Robert barged in with a sharply dressed dude. Robert looked rough, like he'd just crawled out of a hospital bed.
"Ms. Brooks, it's an honor to meet you." David quickly greeted her, all respectful-like, "I'm David Foster from the Wit Group." Isabella rubbed her temples. The name rang a bell, but she couldn't quite place it.
"He's Cassie's legal husband now, but she treated him like dirt," Robert quickly explained. "Mr. Foster and we are both from Silverwood. He's always had our backs. Recently, he couldn't stand Cassie's behavior and followed me to the Hernandez Group to help me take over Olivia's shares. But he got his butt kicked by Declan and ended up in the hospital for a week."
Isabella said, "I think you've mentioned this."
Robert sighed, "Declan not only beat him up but also trashed his overseas business. Now, no country wants to work with the Wit Group. Please help him."
Isabella looked at David without saying a word. She vaguely remembered Everett mentioning something about David, but the details were fuzzy. Whatever it was, it didn't sound good.
"If it's too much trouble, then forget it." David tugged at Robert and shook his head, then said to Isabella, "Sorry to bother you today. I'll take my leave." He turned and left, looking all dejected.
Robert anxiously approached Isabella. "Isabella, he's really had it rough. Cassie was with him while also messing around with Joseph. He waited for Cassie for years, and they finally got married. But on their wedding night, Cassie slept with Joseph. Later on, Cassie went and trashed his reputation just to get a divorce from him. Please help him. He's a good guy. If Declan hadn't pressured him to divorce Cassie, his company wouldn't be in this mess."
Isabella sneered, "Declan wants Cassie to divorce this guy so he can marry her, right? If Declan wants to ruin him, then I'll help David. I don't believe Declan would dare bring a married woman back to the Wittelsbach family."
"Isabella, are you agreeing to help him?" Robert was overjoyed, "But Declan, are you his match?"
"Robert, you really underestimated me." Isabella was immediately provoked, "I can handle Declan just fine."
She turned to her assistant, "Look into the Wit Group's situation. Let everyone know that any country that refuses to cooperate with the Wit Group is going against Emerald Haven Island." "Got it," the assistant said with a hint of complexity.
Robert was happy and secretly met with David downstairs. "Isabella agreed to help you." "Thank you," David said happily, but he tried to play it cool, "Let's work together in the future, and the business world in Madison will be ours."
"David, you're too kind." Robert thought of David's methods and felt a bit scared, "I don't understand any of this. The Hernandez Group will rely on you. I just want some dividends."
"That's no problem at all. You can be at ease with me around."
