Chapter 1437 I Know a Little Bit About Everything

"Cassie, zip it," Joseph blurted out, catching her dangerous glare. "I'll grab a bag of cat food later, and I'll even eat a pack as punishment, alright?"

"Smart move," Cassie snorted, crossing her arms and looking away.

Joseph was tormented. How many crazy stunts had he pulled in the past?

Right now, he hoped he wouldn't get his memory back.

At the Presidential Palace.

Laura rushed back to the building in the backyard, initially worried that Kennedy wouldn't be able to handle Maeve.

But when Laura stepped into the living room, Maeve was nowhere to be seen. Instead, she heard Maeve's laughter coming from the room on the right.

She quickly followed the sound and was stunned.

When Laura left in the afternoon, it was just an ordinary bedroom.

But now it had turned into a small pink playground.

The floor was covered with pink cartoon foam mats, and there were a pink tent, a rocking horse, a swing, and a ball pit.

Maeve was lying on the floor, laughing uncontrollably.

Next to her sat Derek, holding a cute teddy bear, making Maeve laugh out loud.

Laura stood there for a long time, almost thinking she had walked into the wrong place.

It wasn't until Maeve saw her and happily waved her little hand that Laura felt relieved.

Even though Laura and Michael had decided to divorce, her biggest concern was Maeve. Maeve usually relied on Michael a lot, and Laura was afraid Maeve would be upset. But it was clear that even though Laura had been away for an afternoon, Maeve was in a good mood.

"You're back," Derek said, putting down the toy. He was wearing a simple white silk pajama top and blue pajama pants, his hair casually dried and falling over his forehead.

Laura glanced at him and found Derek quite adorable.

Although Laura and Derek often met, it was the first time she saw him in pajamas.

The Jude Family's genes were indeed good. She had faced Michael's handsome face every day, and logically, she shouldn't be affected by good looks anymore. But Derek and Michael had different styles.

Michael liked to dress flamboyantly, as if afraid others wouldn't know he was handsome.

Derek, on the other hand, usually dressed modestly, with a warm smile and an elegant demeanor. Yet, Derek was several years younger than Michael.

Laura used to think Michael was young and handsome, but compared to Derek at this moment, she suddenly realized that being five or six years younger made a big difference. Derek stood in front of her with a clean face and fair skin. Even the handsome guys she saw at the club tonight seemed to pale in comparison.

"What are you looking at?" Derek asked with a gentle smile.

"I was just wondering why you're here in pajamas," Laura thought to herself. She was about to get divorced, so why was she still in the mood to appreciate good looks?

Could it be that she was really persuaded by Cassie and Bernice tonight?

"I was planning to read after taking a shower, but I heard Maeve crying, so I came over," Derek gently pinched Maeve's little nose. "Luckily, she stopped crying when I played with her."

"Thanks for keeping Maeve company again," Laura said shyly. "I should have come back earlier, but..."

"It's cool. You've been through a rough patch with the marriage, and it's normal to feel down. Sometimes it's good to hang out with friends, get some fresh air, and have a drink," Derek said, looking at her seriously. "But don't stay sad for too long. Maeve needs you."

Thinking of Maeve, Laura felt a sudden rush of emotion and quickly turned away. "I'll be strong for Maeve, but how did you know I went out drinking with friends?"

"The strong smell of alcohol on you," Derek said, taking Maeve from her arms. "Go take a shower. I'll keep playing with Maeve."

Laura opened her mouth, feeling shy. She wanted to ask Kennedy to play with Maeve, but seeing how happy Maeve was with Derek, she didn't say anything.

"By the way, don't breastfeed Maeve after drinking. I heard alcohol can seep into breast milk, and babies can get drunk easily," Derek suddenly said.

Laura blushed. Hearing a guy talk about such things was still embarrassing, even though Derek was technically her brother. "You don't have kids, so how do you know so much?"

"Do I need to have kids to know stuff?" Derek blinked. "I know a little bit about everything."

"Alright," Laura awkwardly scratched her head. "How did this room turn into a playroom?"

"Violet arranged for me to change it," Derek raised an eyebrow. "Satisfied? Don't worry; everything here is odorless and very safe."

"Very satisfied, thank you. Also, thank Violet for me."

Laura was genuinely touched.

In the past few days, the Carl couple had been very kind to Laura, caring for her while giving her enough space.

And the design of this playroom was very thoughtful.

Laura could tell that Derek was a very meticulous person.

"We're family; no need to be so polite," Derek smiled, stretching his long legs. "If you keep being so polite, I'll get angry."

"Alright, I won't. After all, Maeve is your niece," Laura smiled and went upstairs to take a shower.

Half an hour later, Laura came back, the smell of alcohol gone, replaced by a light fragrance. She took Maeve from Derek's arms. "You can go to sleep now."

"Call me if you need anything," Derek glanced at her burgundy pajamas.

Derek had seen Violet wear this color before. On a woman of Violet's age, it looked old-fashioned, but on Laura, with her good skin, big eyes, and bright features, it was quite alluring.

His gaze briefly swept over her chest.

Derek couldn't help but chuckle. Laura was quite guarded against him.

But it was understandable.

After Derek left, Laura called Kennedy to give Maeve a bath.

Kennedy said, "No need. Before you came back, Mr. Jude and I already bathed Maeve."

Laura was stunned. "He knows how to bathe a child?"

"He doesn't; but it's not too hard. He held the baby while I quickly bathed Maeve. Mr. Jude is very meticulous and learns quickly. He even said he could bathe Maeve by himself next time," Kennedy said with a smile.

Laura couldn't help but think that Derek would make a good husband someday.

Wait.

She held her head.

Before she got married, she also thought Michael would be a good husband.

Forget it, she shouldn't think too much.

After all, her judgment had never been that great.
