Chapter 644
An hour later, Joseph appeared at the police station.
Outside the station, on the chairs, Cassie had just finished a game. She was wearing no makeup. Her hair was tied up in a bun, revealing a pretty and innocent face. She resembled a harmless college student.
However, Joseph still vividly remembered how she had frantically tried to grab the steering wheel from him.
"Hi, we met again shortly," Cassie greeted with a smile, waving her hand.
"What have you done?" Joseph strode over and asked.
The police played a recording of a dispute between the two in the car. Joseph's face turned ashen ; he couldn't believe the woman had recorded it.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Joseph, but I must remind you that the recording implicates you in a possible kidnapping and confinement of Ms. Cassie. Since she grabbed your steering wheel, it could be considered self-defense and not a crime," the police officer explained.
Joseph fell silent.
"On the contrary, I can accuse you of attempting to kidnap me," Cassie grinned, revealing her white teeth. "Oh, and I also reported you for throwing things out of the window while driving."
"What did I throw?" Joseph was puzzled.
"My shoes," Cassie said, lifting her feet to showcase her alluring high-heeled shoes. Joseph was taken aback.
Moments later, Joseph glared at Cassie in frustration. He couldn't believe she was making a fuss.
The police intervened, "She reported it to the traffic police. According to traffic regulations, throwing objects out of the window results in a two-point deduction and a $200 fine."
Joseph remained silent.
"Alright, you two should settle this privately," the police suggested, eager to resolve the situation.
"Wait, he hasn't reimbursed me for medical expenses," Cassie swiftly scrolled through her phone and displayed a bill to the police. She added, "I spent a total of $800 on hospital treatment."
"This case is tricky. If you still have disputes, you can appeal. Involving lawyers might cost more than this amount. I recommend resolving this privately," the police advised.
"Sure, as long as Joseph is willing," Cassie said, looking at Joseph with a sly smile resembling a cunning fox.
"Money is not the issue, but why should I give it to you?" Joseph retorted coldly.
"In that case, I'll just post the recording online. People will hear that not only did we not divorce, but you also tried to confine me. That would be interesting," Cassie anticipated Joseph's reaction and rebutted.
Joseph felt a headache coming on. " Cassie, besides threatening me, what else can you do?"
"I can do a lot more. You want to find out?" Cassie smiled playfully, her eyes teasingly glancing at him.
Joseph, caught off guard by her flirtation, turned completely dark-faced.
