Chapter 1385 Husband
Laura followed where everyone else was looking.
By the roadside, there was this slick white convertible sports car, limited edition and all. Inside, a young dude was chilling. He had on a linen suit vest over a white shirt, hair styled up, showing off a smooth forehead and sharp eyebrows. He rocked black-framed glasses on his prominent nose, and his thin lips had this elegant vibe. He looked like he just stepped out of a comic book, all noble and stuff.
Even Laura, who was pretty used to seeing good-looking guys, got a bit thrown off.
She used to think some male celebs looked hot with glasses, but they had nothing on this guy.
But wait, he seemed kinda familiar.
The guy noticed Laura staring and smirked.
Then he pulled out a massive bouquet of pink roses from the back seat, opened the car door, and with this smooth stride, walked over to Laura.
Everyone around was watching, all envious and stuff, as he got closer and closer.
He stopped right in front of her, holding out the roses, their scent filling the air. "Darling, I love you," he said with a sweet smile.
Laura was totally stunned.
No wonder he looked familiar—it was Michael.
To be real, Michael used to dress all flashy, but today he switched it up, looking like a British gentleman. New car, new hairstyle, and even glasses. She was so caught up in how handsome he looked that her brain kinda short-circuited.
It was rush hour, and a crowd had gathered without her even noticing.
"What a shame! He's so handsome, but taken."
"He's not just handsome; he's loaded too. Look at that sports car—limited edition worth millions, not just anyone can get that."
"Oh my God. I'm so jealous of that woman."
Laura heard the whispers around her and looked up at Michael, who looked like a prince straight out of a painting.
Her heart started pounding.
Women love something new, and she had to admit, Michael's new look gave her all sorts of feels.
But when she saw someone starting to record a video, she instinctively grabbed Michael's hand and whispered, "Let's get out of here first."
After a pause, Laura told Brynn, "You head home first."
With that, Laura quickly got into the car with Michael.
Michael glanced at his hand that she had grabbed, still warm from her touch, but the flowers hadn't been given yet. "Darling, the flowers."
Laura quickly snatched the flowers, using them to cover her face, and mumbled, "Drive."
Michael was a bit frustrated; don't women usually love grand gestures?
He thought when he showed up with the flowers, Laura would be so happy she'd tear up, throw herself into his arms, and call out, "Darling."
Then he could hold her and spin around in joy.
He had totally overthought it.
As they drove off, they became the center of attention on the street.
Laura softly said, "Can you put the top up? I don't want everyone staring at us."
"Sure thing."
Michael pressed a button, and the convertible top slowly closed.
Only then did Laura move the flowers aside a bit to check them out. They smelled amazing, definitely some fancy imported stuff.
The vibe in the car was kinda weird. Laura awkwardly brushed her hair and glanced at Michael beside her. He seemed a bit different, "Why the sudden change?"
"Didn't you say I was too good-looking, making other women jealous? So I switched it up, went for darker colors," Michael said, a bit nervous and hopeful, "Do I look handsome?"
If any other guy asked that, Laura would’ve mentally rolled her eyes at their shamelessness.
But today, Michael was genuinely handsome, and his outfit wasn’t as flashy. He seemed more reserved and noble.
But she didn’t want him getting too cocky, "Not bad."
"No way." Michael smirked, "When I showed up, all the women outside were stunned, and so were you."
"I was just shocked by your sudden change, okay?" Laura turned her face away, denying it.
"Women are so contradictory." Michael didn’t buy it.
Half an hour later, the sports car pulled up to a swanky restaurant.
It was a members-only spot, super pricey, usually needing reservations days in advance.
When Laura walked in, she noticed the place was decked out with imported flowers and seemed to be cleared out.
"You didn’t book the whole floor, did you?" Laura blinked.
"Of course. It’s our first date." Michael quickly and gentlemanly pulled out a chair for her, "Darling, please sit."
Laura was nervous; she had only agreed to see a movie, how did it turn into a candlelight dinner?
"Here’s the menu." The waiter handed over the menu, looking enviously at Laura.
Laura glanced at the menu, "Which dishes come out fast? We have a movie to catch later."
The waiter smiled, "Tonight’s chef is only serving the two of you, so everything will be quick."
After ordering, Michael stood up, "Sit tight, I’m going to the restroom."
Laura sighed in relief; the atmosphere was pretty tense.
Just then, Cassie sent her a message on Facebook: [Wow, Michael is so romantic.]
Laura quickly replied: [How do you know? Did Joseph tell you?]
Cassie responded: [No, someone recorded a video of Michael giving you flowers with his sports car, and it’s got over a million views now. Check it out yourself.]
She quickly forwarded a video file: [A Stunning Scene of a Handsome Guy Confessing.]
Laura opened it and saw that the video indeed captured Michael’s tall figure like a scene from a drama.
Netizens were also commenting.
[Oh my God, he’s so handsome.]
[Please, let him become a celebrity.]
[He’s already rich. Why would he need to be a celebrity?]
